10 Miles? No Big Deal :)
Happy Monday! Only three days in the work week for me which means this is really my Wednesday : )
Over the weekend I watched the Heat kick the Pacer’s butt while eating way too many snacks. It was a great way to spend a Friday night with Adam, but my stomach was a little unsettled when I started my 10-miler late Saturday afternoon.
I’ll leave out some of the more unpleasant details, but the second half of the run went perfectly!
This run marked my fourth Saturday in a row running 10 miles. Double digit miles used to really intimidate me and I would always slow down — mentally and physically — around mile eight.
After a month of running Double Digit Saturdays I am feeling so much more confident about 10 mile+ runs. I no longer slow down considerably or walk a lot during the last couple of miles. And mentally I am no longer worried/anxious/nervous about completing the run because I know I’m going to finish strong.
Overall, I’m feeling really good about heading into marathon training next month which was the whole point of doing more double digit runs. The idea of running 15+ miles still sounds absolutely insane… but it sounds a little bit less insane than it did a month ago.
Aside from running, I also did a little shopping this weekend. This year I started a thing where I allow myself a $100 clothing budget per month — with that $100 I can get running stuff or regular people stuff. Last month I overspent because I ended up buying a new pair of Brooks Adrenalines along with some casual clothes. That meant this month I only had about $50 to spend.
My favorite brand is called Bar III which can be found at Macy’s. However, ever since I started losing weight I’ve found it increasingly more difficult to spend a lot of money on clothes since I know I won’t be able to wear the pieces for long. So, right now I’m buying most of my normal people clothes at Target, where I found this pretty dress and necklace that I’m going to bring on the cruise!
The dress, which looks pink in the picture but is actually more of a coral, was only $25 and the necklace was $16. Together they fit right into my reduced monthly budget for April!
Naturally, Cecil assumed the necklace was a cat toy and pounced on it right away.
Luckily for him, I find it impossible to be mad at this little face:
He’s too much!
What’s your favorite store to shop for clothes on a budget?
– Target. Stores like Ross/Marshalls/TJs stress me out because they feels so unorganized!
Do you watch/like basketball?
I’m so ready for the playoffs to begin! Let’s go Heat!
