11 Things About Me You Might Not Know (Liebster Award)

Happy Wednesday! Last night I enjoyed a short, breezy run to shake up my legs. Nothing too interesting happened there to blog about BUT I will be coming atcha with some thoughts about the Palm Beaches Half tomorrow!

Yesterday Meg nominated me for a Liebster Award! Thank you, Meg! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I thought I’d give it a go today!

As part of the Liebster I have to answer the 11 questions Meg gave me and then nominate 11 other bloggers to answer a new set of 11 questions I have written. Here we go!

1. What is your current health related goal?

I really want to get back into a 3-day-a-week strength training routine. I usually run six days a week so my current norm is 1 to 2 days of strength. I need to figure out the best schedule for properly mixing in an extra day!

Maybe someday I can get back to squatting this:

Actually that left me really sore on running days, so maybe just get back into a solid squatting routine period.

2. What is your biggest irrational fear?

I am scared of the vampire that lives in my closet. And the monster that wants to grab my feet when I get out of bed in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

3. Do you enjoy wrapping presents?

Does artfully arranging colorful tissue paper in the cutest bag I can find count as wrapping? Because that is my signature way to give gifts : ).

4. What’s your favorite cross training activity?

Kicking my legs around in the pool on a sunny day with a cold glass of unsweet iced tea. It might not be the most strenuous thing but I like it!

5. If I came to visit you, what would we do?

Run at the beach, of course!

6. You have 2 weeks off of work and 2 round trip plane tickets ANYWHERE. Where would you go and who would you take?

I would take Adam and probably go to Korea (I was born in Seoul). We have talked about going for a few years but the plane tickets are really expensive!

7. What’s the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you during a run or race?

Having to run off the race course and into a Subway to use the bathroom. It was an Emergency with a capital E.

8. Tell me the 3 best days of your life. Or at least the first 3 that pop into your mind.

The first things that popped into my mind:

1. The day I met Adam.

2. The day we adopted our baby cat.

Picture 7

3. The day I started watching The Mindy Project.

9. Okay, you HAVE to eat a fast food meal. What restaurant would you choose and what would you order?

Does Chipotle count as fast food? Isn’t it technically classified as “casual fast?” I would definitely get a chicken or steak burrito bowl!

10. Have you ever met a celebrity?

JOEY FATONE from *NSYNC! It was such a great day in my 15-year-old life!!!!

11. Share a picture of yourself in non-workout clothes!

Me and Alice the Camel at the Miami Metro Zoo:

Me being super fashionable in teal tights at Centennial Park in Atlanta:

And now it’s my turn to nominate other bloggers!

Today I want to nominate a few of the blogs I’ve started following since the last time I did a Liebster: Simple RunnerFairweather RunnerRun, Jenny, RunLily Runs the WorldWhy Mom Runs and Simplify Life!

There are about 10 other blogs I WANT to nominate so if I didn’t name you know I stalk read your blog every day, you are nominated too!

My 11 questions for the nominees:

1. If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you choose?
2. If a movie of your life was made, what would the focus be on and who would play you?
3. What is your DREAM job?
4. Describe yourself in just three words!
5. If you could be anyone else for a day who would you be?
6. What item that you don’t already have would you most like to own?
7. If you were a fruit, what type of fruit would you be?
8. If you could break any running world record, which one would you choose?
9. What is the best joke you’ve ever heard?
10. What is your typical morning routine like?
11. What is the most recent movie/book you’ve seen/read?

Seriously though, I have to know, what is your DREAM job???

  1. Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine

Dream job would be something that didn’t feel like work. I would love to only work part time, and do something related to health/nutrition/running. Also working with kids. It’s not that don’t love my current job, it can just be really stressful at times!

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

I can only imagine how stressful your job can be! There is no doubt that kids today need assistance with forming healthy habits at an early age. There is so much opportunity for you in that space!

  2. Staci @ Hoosier Running Mom

I never really think about a dream job. I would like to have a fitness/wellness center, with more than just the equipment and a few classes. Something personal, women oriented, helpful, supportive etc. Things are just so darn impersonal at places it is almost as if you are on your own from the moment you step in the door. I would like to change that.

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

I’m so with you on that Staci! I’ve thought about that, too. Not only are most wellness centers impersonal but they can also be intimidating. A place that is really supportive would be amazing. If only we lived in the same city and could work together on it! That would be so much fun! I’ve actually scoped out a nice dance/fitness studio that rents out rooms fairly inexpensively that could be good for a small start 😉

  3. running schlub

I actually get a kick out of reading these.

    The Mindy project really????

Hell yeah chipotle counts, I had it yesterday for lunch, absolutely love that place. Sorry for cursing lol.

I cannot explain how much I really love the show 🙂

Chipotle is so amazing. I get extra corn on my burrito bowl LOL. I wish other places offered corn, I really think that’s what makes it the best! haha

  4. Amanda @ Slimplify Life

Hahaha I can’t believe you ran into a Subway, that’s hysterical. When ya gotta go, ya gotta go.

Thanks for the nomination!!!! I’ll answer the dream job question in tomorrow’s post =)

I HAD to run into the Subway, there were like no port-o-potties for at least 3 miles! Thank goodness for that beautiful sub shop! 😀

  5. Jess

Thanks for nominating me, Kristina! 🙂 Keep an eye out for tomorrow’s post. I can’t believe you met Joey Fatone. Super jealous about that one!

It was kind of odd…. my friend heard he was doing an autograph signing inside of a K-Mart in Orlando so we went. How weird that at the height of NSYNC’s craziness he would agree to sign autographs inside of k-mart! Not a lot of people showed up so we got back in the autograph line a couple of times, haha 😀

  6. Amy

I love Chipotle. Why is it so good? So that picture of you and Alice is awesome! But we can’t really see your non-workout clothes! haha. It is snowing in Colorado today! Wouldn’t you like to come here and run in the snow instead of the beach today?
Amy recently posted…Denver Urban Half Marathon and 7 MilerMy Profile

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

The corn. The corn is why Chipotle is so good! I am convinced this is the case which is why I always get extra corn 🙂

I don’t have enough fashion sense for it to be worthwhile for anyone to see my non-workout clothes!!!

  7. Kim

So fun – I’m hoping to answer Megan’s questions next week!!
I love that you listed the day you started watching the Mindy project in your top 3 best days!!!
Both my dad and Chris spent a year (not at the same time) in Seoul. I think that overall they both really liked it.
    Kim recently posted…Best FriendsMy Profile

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

That’s really cool that they got to spend a year in Seoul. I left when I was three months old so I have no recollection of it whatsoever and since I was adopted I have no point of reference for anything over there. I’d really love to explore it one day. The plane ride is just so expensive and long though!

  8. Lizzy

I love when your cat makes an appearance! He was such a cute kitten!

Fun answers, I will answer your questions and Meg’s questions, hopefully tomorrow!
OK, now I am going to have to start watching the Mindy Project!

I love it so much! Adam thinks I only like it because the Mindy character is similar to me in real life, but really I love it because the Danny character (Mindy’s boyfriend) reminds me of him 😉 haha.

  10. cheryl

Now I see the glaring grammatical error…WHAT ARE 6 miles… errr!

  11. Megan @ Meg Go Run

My dream job is to perform on BROOOOOOOADWAY! Elem. music will have to do!!!

A few things… You met Joey Fatone!!?? Do I know this story????

No, Chipotle does not count as fast food unless there is something FRIED involved. 😉

You squat 140lbs?????????????????????????? If I told you how much I used to be able to squat (pre knee surgery) you would laugh so hard. Post knee surgery I can only squat like half what I used to! I know all the big lifters say everyone should be able to squat their bodyweight but I don’t ever think I will be able to do that!

I love that you got Cecil a baby’s first Christmas stocking. 🙂 Our kitties have stockings too. 🙂

Thanks for filling out my survey!

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

I did meet Joey!!! In a K-Mart of all places! I have no idea why he was doing an autograph signing at a K-Mart in the heyday of NSYNC…

If Chipotle doesn’t count I would have to go with Arby’s …. whatever that special sauce is that they put on Beef and Cheddar sandwiches has my heart.

I USED TO squat 140lbs… my max was 160, which I think I only got up one time and Adam said my form was atrocious. After that I started training for my first half marathon and stopped lifting heavy. Today I usually do 3 X 5 @ 60lbs … but I want to work my way back up to 100 just for the triple digit factor 😉

Cecil has too many stockings! Every year I get him a new one! I bet you and Paul spoil Jelly and Christmas so much during the holidays!

      1. Megan @ Meg Go Run

A Kmart, that is awesome 🙂 I was a huge Nsync fan. You have some awesome squatting accomplishments. I wish my IT band were cooperating and I could lift lower body more. Every time I try (like, once every 8 days) it is so sore afterwards. We actually do not get the cats presents for Christmas, can you believe it? We do sometimes get them a fancy wet food for a treat. 🙂 They are just spoiled so much every freaking day of their lives I don’t know what is left to do for them on Christmas hehe.

  12. Jennifer @ The Final Forty

Yay! I love these posts. I would really, really like to be better about strength training, too.

How cheesy and ridiculous is it to say that I have my dream job? Except with a few modifications…instead of writing the kinds of stories for a bunch of local magazines I usually have to churn out in order to feed myself or pay my bills, I really, REALLY want to be writing for running magazines. They’re tough to break into, but, I’ll get there. 🙂

Superfun! I guess I’ll have to save my answer for my post : ) Thanks for nominating me – these are always fun and you learn so much about the author! Haha you cracked me up with “3. The day I started watching The Mindy Project.”

I can’t wait to read your answers!!!

  14. Jenn @ Running on Lentils

Loved this! Now I want to come visit you so I can run on the beach, ha ha! My dream job would be to run an animal sanctuary to give a happy forever home to abandoned and homeless animals. 🙂

You are welcome to come visit! I would be happy to take you on a tour of my favorite running route along the beach 🙂

I love your dream job! I tell Adam all the time that if I ever won the lottery big time I would open a cat sanctuary!

  15. Kristen @ Glitter and Dust

My dream job is already a reality for me. I get to teach college classes on topics I am very passionate about and have a flexible schedule while doing so. I am in charge of overseeing an entire program through Ecampus and get to work on the administrative side as well, helping out with marketing and advertising. It honestly can not get much better, especially being right out of graduate school not too long ago. 🙂

Otherwise, I would love to travel the world and blog about it. Seems like a good backup.

  17. Karen

Love your real clothes pictures 🙂 You are so cute! I love baby’s first stocking lol Squatting that weight would leave you really sore, good gosh!! You will look like a total bad @$s “) doing that! I can’t squat, I wish I could.
Karen recently posted…Half Planning & Heart ChartsMy Profile

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

      Haha, thank you!

Lifting that weight was REALLY tough. I had to stop doing it because it left me way too sore to properly run. I thought I could maintain both lifting heavy and training for races at the same time, but apparently I am not that strong! I’d love to go back to it at some point, but I don’t see myself quitting running anytime soon so ….. 😀

  18. Ali @ Hit the Ground Running

Aw, that picture of Cecil as a baby!!

Chipotle totally counts as fast food in my opinion!
