13 Miles Later

This past weekend was one of the laziest I’ve had in a VERY long time. It stormed out almost all day Saturday and Sunday which led me to do only three things:

1. Run 13 Miles.

Despite the crappy weather you gotta do what you gotta do. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t really feel like running. Mentally I wasn’t into it at all, but sometimes you do just do hard things because it’ll benefit you in the long term.

I’ve run 12 miles a handful of times since my last half marathon in February, but never 13…

Pardon his french.

Why yes, I do want a medal ; )

2. Take Cecil to the Vet.

It was time for his annual checkup … I always have to prepare myself for visits to the vet because Cecil HATES going.

He got a clean bill of health (except he needs to lose 3lbs), but it took the vet tech and I 45 minutes to get him back in his carrier.

Once we got home he went completely back to normal and got directly into my lap and went to sleep.

(The green thing is a $10 off coupon for my local running store … I believe new shoes are in my near future!)

3. Marathon Watch Orange is the New Black.

I started with Season 1 on Friday night and as of Sunday night I am on Season 2, Episode 11.

88

Each episode is one hour long so please don’t do the math or you’ll be sad for how many hours I spent on the couch this weekend.

I have SO many favorite characters though! Poussey is definitely my #1, but I also really like Taystee, Watson, Sophia, Cal (Piper’s brother) and Miss Claudette (I was sad to see her go).

So, all in all I had a really low key weekend and really liked it. I think I just needed to recharge my batteries after last week.

Do you watch OITNB? Favorite character?

What is your favorite TV show right now?

– I’m currently in that lull where basketball is over and football hasn’t started yet, so I need recommendations for shows I can watch : )

Wow 13 miles, that is awesome. Great job. I love Chef Ramsay lol. Great news for Cecil at the vet. I don’t watch OITNB but everyone says it’s a really good show. I’m a big Walking Dead fan so I’m waiting for that to start back up later this year.

Thank you! 🙂 I really wanted to like The Walking Dead but I couldn’t get into it … the story line just moved too slow for me. I watched all of season one and part of season two and stopped.

I’ve been saving that Chef Ramsay image for this occasion! haha

OMG, i just started OITNB this weekend too! i haven’t gotten quite as far as you have, but it’s so good :). it actually stresses me out a bit because i feel like i would be so out of place there too.

in the summers, i LOVE so you think you can dance. it’s amazing. i just love dancing….

Dawn! We need to be friends in real life 🙂

I like the show a lot (obviously), but some of the scenes really stress me out too. I’d be terrified if any of those women yelled at me. Plus I always kind of thought if I went to prison I would want to be in solitary so that I wouldn’t get beat up, but they make it seem SOOO awful! I can’t imagine spending more than 24 hours in there!

That is A LOT of Orange hahahaha. No judgement here, though. I would do the same thing if I didn’t have to wait for Paul to watch the eps. Fav characters: Morello, Poussey, Yoga Jones. I haaaaaate Daya and all the baby drama. Oh I like Pornstache too. FAVORITE CHARACTER IS PENNSYLTUCKY lol I love her!!!

I don’t like Daya and all the baby drama either, but that whole thing has really made me like Pornstache! Season 1 obviously I hated him, but the way he is with Daya is hilarious!

I like Pennsyltucky too – she’s freakin crazy – but fun to watch!

Umm…I still haven’t watched Orange is the New Black.
Glad you had a relaxing weekend (and got in 13 miles!!!). I tried to do the same – Saturday my FitBit barely got to 2000 steps!!!

Relaxing and recharging… that’s what Saturdays are for!

  5. Helly

    I’m in a similar lull 🙂
I don’t watch a whole lot of tv besides sports. And Sesame Street. A lot of Sesame Street.

This time of year is such a killer. Can training camp please start already?!

HAHAHA sesame street!!! Too funny 🙂

Congrats on your 13 miles! And in the crappy weather too!? Yes, yes you do deserve a medal (hint, hint, Adam, lol…). 🙂

Sometimes a recharge the batteries weekend is very much needed. I have been having that the last two days (belated weekend feeling perhaps?), and yes, the weather is still crap here.

Haven’t seen that show, but have seen lots of references to it on various blogs. Umm, I have a weird addiction to a show I found on youtube: supersize vs superskinny, it’s an English show, so perhaps reminds me of home? And is all about food/overeating/undereating etc… I watch too many episodes of that at a time. Think I am almost out of ones to watch, oops…

Poor Cecil! Glad his ‘ordeal’ is over and he is a healthy, happy cat. 🙂

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

He is healthy, but I don’t know if he is happy about his diet 🙂

He’s been meowing and walking around the treat drawer a lot, haha.

Did you/do you watch Made in Chelsea? It’s kind of over the top, but I (not so) secretly like it!

  7. Karen

Awesome 13 miles 🙂 That’s determination! Okay I am out of the Orange chat, just lost, lol Trips to vet are always pretty taxing. I always what they are really thinking when they have to gets shots, etc…and I really hate to think about cute Cecil on rations lol

If you have time this summer you should watch Orange, i think you would like it!

Pretty sure the meow Cecil let out when he was getting his shots would translate to “traitor” as he was staring right at me as it happened. Poor baby!

Haha the diet is very necessary. He’s a big cat in general but last year he was only 13 lbs and this year he is 15lbs! I may have gotten a little heavy handed with the treats … the vet wants him to be 12lbs.

  8. Ali @ Hit the Ground Running

We’ve been marathoning Dexter. We stopped watching it in season 4 and now are enjoying getting to finish it in one fell swoop. Also on the list this week: packing. Which totally sucks.

    Great work on 13 miles!!
