Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! I hope you have something fun planned for today even if it’s just treating yourself to a Reese’s pb cup :).

How was your weekend? Here’s what was on my plate…

1. Running in the wind is my new thing. Not by choice! It’s hard to tell from this picture but the wind has been whipping around for the last week, and it’s supposed to stick around for at least another week.

A few days ago Ali said the wind made each run feel like a resistance workout and I couldn’t agree more!

According to exercise physiologists, “A substantial wind (i.e. one approximately equal to the pace you are running at) will set you back 12 seconds per mile with a headwind, and aid you by 6 seconds per mile with a tailwind.”

If you’re racing in windy conditions “up to 80% of performance decrement can be eliminated by drafting about a meter behind another runner.”

Good to know!

2. Friday was National Cat Day. We celebrated by giving Cecil four dental treats instead of his normal two, but I think he may have also eaten Georgie’s dental treats. (I don’t think Georgie likes them?!).

3. Painting Will Give You a Good Leg Workout. I did a lot of squats this weekend while paining our living room!

Honestly, I’m not sure that I’m very good at painting …

But I am really happy with our decision to go with Edgecomb Grey. It was overcast yesterday so the lighting in this pic isn’t very good/doesn’t do the paint color justice, but I love it!

The color that was on the walls before was a beige with a pink undertone … that’s not my jam at all. I’m so happy it’s GONE! I love the way the white on the trim and crown moulding stands out now.

We still need to do the trim along the floor sometime this week, but I’m excited to have the walls done. All of the things we’ve done up to this point have been important but small and not very noticeable. Now with the walls painted we can finally point to something and say “hey look, we did that!”

4. I VOTED! Florida is an early voting state, so I went on Sunday morning to cast my ballot.

This was my first time voting in person; I’ve always sent in an absentee ballot. I was excited to finally get an “I Voted” sticker :).

5. This is the love of my life. That’s all.

If you follow me on Snapchat you probably saw a lot of the pics in this post already – sorry about that! I will get better at keeping Snapchat content on Snapchat, and blog images on the blog, I promise. That’s my goal for the week.

I hope you had a great weekend!

Did you go to any Halloween parties?
Best part of your weekend?
Does your state have early voting?
It’s so convenient!
Do you get to dress up at work for Halloween?

  1. October 31, 2016 / 5:11 am

We have early voting but the locations are not really convenient for me. I hate running in the wind! But it is a good challenge I guess. Hope you enjoy some Halloween candy today!

      Thanks Lisa!

Oh man, that stinks that the locations aren’t convenient for you. I hope you don’t have to wait in line too long on election day!

I love the paint! I wanted to paint our house when we first moved in but because they had repainted it before selling, Matt didn’t see a reason to. Now we’ve been in it so long that the idea of painting is daunting. But we did move some things around and get new-to-us furniture this weekend, so that was exciting. Painting and moving furniture is a great workout!

Thanks Ali! Matt was probably smart to recommend skipping the paint to be honest, it’s such a pain. I’m happy with the color, but I said to Adam last night “I don’t know if I have the stamina to paint the upstairs next weekend!” haha

That’s so exciting about new furniture. I cannot wait until the day we’re finally ready for ours to get delivered!

  3. October 31, 2016 / 6:59 am

I wish PA had early voting!! Instead I will probably have to wait in line a long time on Nov 8th but I would wait all day if I had to! I keep forgetting Goat along means greatest of all time. On survivor a goat is someone you take to the final 3 who has no chancell of winning! I believe that about the wind! I will have to remember that because a lot of the Harrisburg races are along the river and are very windy. I could dress up for work but I am sure you know I’m not going to!

Hahahah oh no, Cecil is not a GOAT in the survivor sense! I think people would definitely want him to stay on the island because he is very soft and who doesn’t want to pet a soft cat?

I can’t believe PA doesn’t have early voting. I hope you don’t have to wait too long on election day!

  4. October 31, 2016 / 8:35 am

I forgot about early voting and got an absentee ballot. I wonder if I can still just go to the poll if I haven’t sent it in yet?!

Ahhhh I don’t know! I bet if you call your closest early voting location they would know though!

  5. October 31, 2016 / 9:50 am

I decided last minute to run a 15k trail race on Saturday and I got first place female! Not because I was fast, there just weren’t many females, but it definitely still counts as my first win! 🙂 I sent in an absentee ballot which I love because I can actually look up candidates that show up on the ballot that I don’t know anything about…I do not enjoy the fact that I don’t get an “I voted!” sticker though! I’m a grad student, so I suppose I could dress up for Halloween, but I think I’d be the only one and I’d feel a little strange. 🙂

CONGRATS!!!!!!! That’s so exciting! Way to go!!!

Voting absentee definitely has its perks. I looked up everyone before I went, but that made it feel like studying for a test and hoping you got a 100% after filling in the scantron haha!

  6. October 31, 2016 / 11:33 am

I’m going to early vote this week! The tip on drafting behind a runner in high winds is true! I ran a half marathon in May with 25-35 mph winds and definitely did better because of my drafting. The other trick is to practice running with a group, as that was the part I found most challenging!!! Love the new paint color!

Holy cow, 25-35mph winds sounds crazy! It makes my 20mph winds sound like nothing. I’ll stop complaining now! 🙂

  7. October 31, 2016 / 11:40 am

That is good to know about the wind. I have had a few windy runs, my 20 miler was in done in big gusts.
I love the paint color! haha, I look like that when I paint, it is all over me lol
    I love Cecil’s picture. I don’t think I even posted anything for cat day LOL I wasn’t feeling good…
I don’t know if we had early voting. I didn’t know that was such a big thing, but it seems a ton of people have posted they voted!

Awww I’m sorry you weren’t feeling good on cat day. Hopefully the cats did their duty and cuddled you until you felt better!

  8. October 31, 2016 / 2:14 pm

Whoa Adam made it in today, so excited. Its like a sasquatch sighting lol.

We did go to a party this weekend, I may post about that just for fun. Best part of the weekend was 24 miles yesterday 🙂

We do get to dress up but honestly I completely forgot. Dressed up as an office guy I guess lol

      November 1, 2016 / 8:24 am

Hahahahaha I am trying to convince Adam to be on the blog more! He is worried about becoming too internet famous though LOL!

      24 miles!!!! Way to go!!!!

  9. October 31, 2016 / 2:56 pm

    Happy Halloween!

My state does not have early voting, boo to that!

we are not allowed to dress up for work… our boss thinks our participants would not take us seriously. I think they already don’t take us seriously, a hat or costume wont’ make it worse.

      November 1, 2016 / 8:25 am

Oh man that does stink. I hope you don’t have to wait too long on election day!

  10. October 31, 2016 / 5:07 pm

I already voted too! Technically, I am still a Florida resident, so I sent in my absentee ballet there. Can’t wait until all of this election stuff is over. I was pretty excited to send my vote in and be done with it all.

I spent my weekend exploring caves in southern Kansas. It was pretty awesome! Sounds like your new place is coming along really well!

I hear ya! Hillary, Trump and Obama have all been coming into Fort Lauderdale and Miami making traffic a nightmare at times!

Exploring caves sounds like so much fun! I hope you took some pics (and post them)! 🙂

  11. October 31, 2016 / 6:05 pm

The paint looks great – on the walls and on you :O). No party plans here. I think we’re going to watch Hotel Transylvania and go to bed early – we’re real party animals.

      Hahahaha thank you!

You sound like the same kind of party animals that Adam and I are 🙂
