5 Things From My Weekend!

Hey there! Today I thought we could do a quick weekend catchup!

1. I got my hair cut and colored!

I had Friday off of work due to the hurricane and the possibility of our area still receiving tropical storm force winds. We ended up having a beautiful day though, so in the afternoon I went to the salon to have my hair cut and colored.

^ New hair + my favorite snapchat filter. If we’re friends on Snapchat please know I will never get tired of the deer filter!

This is really something I have been NEEDING for quite some time now, but the idea of sitting in the salon for four hours always kills me. Since Friday was sort of a freebee day, I decided it was the perfect one for getting caught up with my stylist, Richard!

If you follow me on Snapchat you’ve probably already seen what my hair looks like, if not I’ve got a vlog coming tomorrow :).

2. The storm did NOT bring in cooler weather.

I didn’t think it would, but a coworker told me that he was predicting a day or two of cooler fall weather. Unfortunately it was BLAZING hot out this weekend.

On Saturday I went out for my run at around 6pm and it was still 88*F (feels like 95*F). When my run ended about two hours later it was STILL 90 degrees out. I’m seriously over this weather.

3. This is why I won’t move even though I dislike the heat.

I got to watch the sun set during my run on Saturday and it was the prettiest thing I’ve seen in a while.

The storm did kick up a lot of seaweed onto the shore, and there was quite an interesting smell coming from it, but what a view!

I ended up having a heart to heart with myself during this run (and then texted every single thought to Megan to get her opinion).

Before I started this blog I never thought I would have “Internet friends.” I actually thought that was really weird, but now I have such an awesome group of Internet friends.I know it’s cheesy to say, but making friends is definitely the biggest benefit of this blog.

Snapchat has been so instrumental in helping me get to know a lot of other bloggers and members of the internet running community on a more personal basis since we can video chat every day. If you’re on Snapchat add me: KristinaRunning!

4. When I got home Cecil reminded me to stretch.

This guy sees me doing pigeon pose ALL THE TIME so I guess now he’s doing it too :).

I was hanging out at my desk, turned around and saw him stretching his hips. What a good boy. I got down and did pigeon pose too because it never hurts to get in an extra hip stretch if you’re me! Right now my hips are feeling loose and great, which I am sure is because I do pigeon like 30 minutes a day in total.

5. I didn’t forget to get in a lifting session!

With all this running, stretching and sitting in a salon it may have seemed like I didn’t lift, but of course I did!

While I was at the gym a girl was on the elliptical singing her heart out. Her voice was really pretty, I should have stopped and said something!

Before I go I have to give a big congrats to all my friends and fellow members of Team PAWS who ran the Chicago Marathon yesterday!

A huge congrats to my good friend Claire who ran 4:43 for a 9 minute PR! I’m so proud of you!

(She followed Hansons and it paid off big time!)

I’m looking forward to all of the Chicago Marathon recaps this week!!!!

How was your weekend?
Are you big on Halloween?

I haven’t been but I want to buy a bunch of decorations after Halloween this year on sale and go crazy next year!
Did you race this weekend?! How did it go?

Sorry to hear that it is still so hot there! I would have thought the storm would cool things off a bit. That beach sunset looks amazing!

It’s amazing how much a small change in temp can really affect how I feel on a run. Last week it was in the mid-80s all week and I was feeling great! Then Saturday it was back up to upper 80s/90s and I was just roasting! I am looking forward to the days when we’re in the lower to mid 80s consistently!

I freaking love your hair. I need a Richard in my life. 🙂 The sky is soooo pretty! Do you have off today? We normally do but because of having days off for mold earlier in the year today is a makeup day. BOO!!!!! I never knew I’d make internet friends from my blog too! Though I don’t consider you an internet friend, I consider you a real life friend who just lives in the wrong state! 😉

Hahaha yes you have a Paul in your life! In my opinion Richard is the best colorist around though. If you wanted a special dye job or highlights I would recommend flying down and spending time in his chair, haha! One of my favorite things about him is that he doesn’t make me do a lot of small talk LOL! He’s happy to work away in silence while I sit in silence – we chat sometimes about work, life, relationships, but mostly he lets me just sit there 😀

I consider you a real life friend too since we met in person and because I see you every day! haha

I love your hair!!! I feel the same way about the salon and sitting there while my hair is colored. I have purposely gotten balayage color in the past so that I don’t have to go as much to get it touched up. I’m glad you guys didn’t get hit by the hurricane! That has got to be scary living in Florida when hurricanes are coming.

Thank you! Yeah, sitting in that chair for hours makes me wish I didn’t have so much hair! The amount of foils I always end up with is just insane!

  4. October 10, 2016 / 12:03 pm

It is so crazy the storm didn’t give you a break in the heat. That sunset was really pretty! We got crazy wind from the tail and very cool air, it was a nice break.
I think i’m becoming addicted to snap chat lol
The internet friend things is quite interesting to me. I have become quite attached to several of you! I did not expect that to happen. I don’t have anyone around me who really cares about fitness stuff on a daily basis so it is really an enriching experience.
I have struggled at times to keep up with blogging, well all the time lol but I really missed it when I have taken a long break.

Hahaha I’m glad you joined the snap family!

I agree with you about the fitness stuff. Adam is into lifting and I have friends into other sports but I don’t know very many other runners so having blog friends is so nice!

  5. October 10, 2016 / 12:14 pm

Crazy that it is so hot there. Glad you missed the storm! We are definitely having some chilly temps here. I did race this weekend (race recap just posted!), but it was just a 10K. I was tracking a few Chicago runners. One of my internet friends ran 2:43. Can you imagine?? I cannot!
I hate going to the salon. What a time suck. I only go for highlights every 12 weeks or so, and then have my daughter cut my hair. Anything to avoid the trip. haha!

Going to check out your race recap NOW!

whoaaaaa a 2:43! you have a very impressive friend!!!!!

  6. October 10, 2016 / 12:26 pm

Did pigeon pose at yoga on Saturday and had an awful realization about how tight my hips are. Apparently going to yoga twice did not magically make me flexible.

I added you on snap 🙂

Hahahaha pigeon will get your hips right! It has yet to fail me!

      Welcome to the snap family!

  7. October 10, 2016 / 5:47 pm

Your hair looks SO good! I wish I wasn’t so bothered by upkeep…I’d totally try highlights or lowlights!

I met my first online friends through livejournal (remember that?) and the first time I met one of them in person, it was because she flew down for my wedding! I think online friendships can be more sincere than face-to-face because you learn so much about each other and share a lot about your life and interests before you even meet!

I definitely remember livejournal. Mine was always private but I documented a couple of years in there. I went through and read a few entries a while ago and they were so sad. The years I wrote in it I was really deep into my ED and the posts just make me feel sick now but I can’t bring myself to delete the account.

That’s so cool that you met someone through LJ and became just such friends that she came to your wedding!

  8. October 10, 2016 / 10:27 pm

Yay for unexpected productive days! Love the new hair and can’t wait to see a proper photo without snap chat filter, haha! I guess I’m a bit old school on appreciating snap chat! Keep up the great work with getting your runs and strength work in!

  9. October 11, 2016 / 5:25 pm

I’m big on ALL holidays, LOL. I totally decorated our house this weekend 🙂
