5 Things Going On Around Here

Hey! Check it out, it’s almost Friday!

Today I’m just chatting about a few things going on around here…

1. I’m Feeling Under the Weather

The last three or so days I have been feeling pretty under the weather. Stomach issues, sleep issues, allergy issues… everything acting up all at once!

sdfI just need to make it until the weekend so I can CRASH. I know I can’t be the only one looking forward to THREE days off!

2. Story of My Life

These shirts accurately tell the story of my life.

LOL!

But seriously I want both of these!

3. Little Black Skirt

A couple of weeks ago I asked for recommendations for nice running skirts that have no shorts underneath or that have 5″ or longer shorts underneath. If my shorts are any less than 5″ I am super prone to chafing in the thighs which is no bueno.

Alison at JWalking Designs was kind enough to send me a Little Black Active Skirt to try!

The skirt has built in shorts with 5″ inseam… and so many pockets for your phone, gels, keys, cards, etc. I will pop up a full review soon!

It’s quite a bit longer than the Sparkle Athletic skirts I wear (that have no built in shorts), but the length isn’t bothersome at all.

So far I’ve only taken the Little Black skirt on one treadmill run, and I want to test it outdoors before I share my final thoughts!

4.  FINALLY a New Nail Polish

I must confess I wore Essie’s Fashion Playground nail polish for about 3 months straight. Literally. I really like the color a lot for spring, but I finally decided to go for a change.

I wanted something neutral – either a light pink or a light beige. I finally ended up with Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in Pink Blink!

20150516_213942It’s honestly not my favorite pink. I thought it would be more sheer. I don’t think this picture really gives you the best view of how thick it is, but you can see Cecil in the background and that’s really what’s important 🙂 .

5. FLOTUS Kicking Butt

Did you see Michelle Obama’s video where she gives us a glimpse into her workout?

I love it! Whether you voted for her husband or not, I think you’ll kind of like this video!

Do you have an activity tracker? If so which one? I used to have a Jawbone UP but it kept breaking so I threw it away. I want something new. I wish the Garmin 225 came in different colors!

Would you rather have a shirt that says Suns Out, Guns Out, I Flexed and the Sleeves Fell Off or Will Run for Wine? 🙂

I have a Jawbone UP24 which really does encourage me to walk more and it’s great to see how much sleep I’m getting. How did you keep breaking your Jawbone?

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

We had the very early version of the Jawbone and it would just always stop working. Like completely stop charging and working period. They sent us 2 replacements each and when those both stop working we just gave up on the whole thing. It seems like Jawbone and all the other companies have vastly improved over the last couple of years though and we’re ready to jump back in! 🙂

    I hope you feel better.
I would like an activity tracker, but I don’t have one! (apparently I am more into the “data” than I thought!
I think I would wear the “will run for wine shirt”, my arms are scrawny, which I suppose would just make the shirt more funny!

I like Suns Out Guns Out the best. 🙂

I have the Garmin Vivofit..I like that is shows me my stats right on my band! And of course I would have to go with “Will run for wine!”:)

I’m eyeing up the Vivofit 2 but I just keep picturing myself running with the Forerunner, Vivofit 2 and Mio heart rate band on and I feel like that arm party is a bit too much LOL

  5. Maddie @ Dixie Runs

I have a garmin vivofit and I love it! Suns out, guns out all the way 🙂

I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well, but it is ALMOST friday!!!

I like that the Vivofit 2 comes with a variety of different band options, although I like the plain white the best I think. I just can’t picture wearing my Vivofit 2, Forerunner and Mio Link all at once during a run – that’s THREE bands! The Forerunner 225 sounds like the perfect fit for me, but I hate that it only comes in black/red 🙁

  6. Karen

I hope you get some good quality rest in this weekend and feel better 🙂 Pushing through the day feeling blah is the worst. I went through that a few weeks ago, crazy allergies.
I have a hulk shirt lol I will have to post a pic of it at some point. I laughed when hubby gave it to me, but I really haven’t worn it .
I am curious to see if you liked the skirt 🙂

OMG yes I need to see that!!!! Hahah your hubby is awesome! The perfect shirt for you!!

  7. Ali @ Hit the Ground Running

True story: I hate light pink nails on myself. I think it makes it look like my nails fell off!

I’m also just trying to make it til I can crash. I’m traveling this weekend and. Red to catch up on sleep beforehand!

  8. Amanda @ Slimplify Life

Will Run for Wine is basically my life in a nut shell. And I can’t do one pull-up (literally, can. not) so I think I better stick with wine. The only weight I lift 😉

    Feel better girl!

  9. Annette @ Sweating Through Life

I have the FitBit Flex and I just recently tried the FitBit Surge (and wrote a review on my blog). I really like the flex, but I have some issues with the design that I think, is the reason it doesn’t work all the time. I mean, it appropriately tracks steps and such, but it doesn’t vibrate anymore and sometimes has issues charging. I blame it on my crazy amount of sweat.

Thank you for linking to your review – I’m off to read it right now! 🙂

  10. Jenn @ Running on Lentils

That picture of the “cat scan” cracked me up! I’m excited for your skirt review. I haven’t heard of that brand before. Feel better!

  11. Stephanie @ Sweat & Sass

Will Run for Wine is my favorite!

I used to have a FitBit as an activity tracker but the band bothered me when I sweat and the app froze a lot, so eventually I stopped using it.

Hope you feel better soon 🙂

I hear ya – the constant freezing and other issues I had with the UP band is why I stopped using it back in the day. A lot of the newer trackers sound pretty solid though!

  12. Lizzy

#4 – good to know! Right now I literally have 8 unpainted nails and 2 nails that are partially painted different colors because I was trying on some new colors trying to find the right shade of sheer-ish neutral, which for me would be a beigy-pink. I saw Pink Blink and thought it might work, but it sounds more opaque than I wanted.

Thanks for sharing the video! Watching it made me miss the boxing classes I used to take. I did regular (not kick-) boxing classes for awhile a few years ago and I LOVED it so much. I think because it involves a serious level of cardio endurance, which is definitely one of my fitness strengths.

My initial reaction when I applied Pink Blink was that it looked like a color only a little girl should wear!

I’ve been wearing it for a few days now and it’s growing on me, but I still don’t love it.

I love that the First Lady is so into fitness and healthy eating! Thanks for sharing that video, Kristina!

    Hi Kristina-
I saw your comments about the skirt sports skirts on Jennifer’s blog. I have never experience any riding up with them I think you would be very happy with them. If you’d like a 25% off code I’d be happy to share my ambassador discount. Just let me know!
