5 Things Since We Last Spoke (I’m SORE)!

Hi there!

I hope you had a fun weekend ;). Today let’s catch up! Here are five things that have been going on with me since we last spoke:

1. GIRLS ONLY weekend!

Adam went out of town last Wednesday to visit his mom. While he was gone I had a fun girls weekend!

In particular Barbara decided to come down and we watched a bunch of chick flicks (classics like Two Weeks Notice and Sweet Home Alabama) and played tourist in Fort Lauderdale.

We vlogged all weekend (and of course Cecil vlogged too):

I can’t believe we went on a ghost tour, hahaha!

2. MIAMI Marathon Training Starts Sept. 26th.

I’ve decided to follow the Hal Higdon Intermediate marathon training plan for Miami. I’m going to put myself through a full marathon training cycle and that will begin on the 26th of this month. When the race finally rolls around I am going to be the most well prepared person at the starting line!

Also, just had to share this pic:

^ She brought her own fan to the gym! I LOVE IT!

3. I’ve Said Goodbye to Hansons

Since I’m going with a Hal Higdon plan for Miami obviously I am done with Hansons. I don’t think it made me any faster, although it did make me a stronger runner. I’m no longer afraid of doing consistent weeks of 35-40 miles and I think that’s a good thing.

I’m sure Hansons works for a great many people, but I’m also sure other training philosophies work too. At the end of the day it’s all about finding what works best for each of us.

4. I’m SORE From Lifting!

Now that I’ve got a couple of weeks free from marathon training I’ve decreased my mileage and have started lifting more. I love being able to lift multiple times per week and to push myself doing it.

Last week I lifting 3X and crushed leg day! There’s nothing like being sore from an extra long run or some serious squats :).

5. I’m READY for the Week!

You know I’ve been really stressed out lately. After a fun long weekend I’m feeling more refreshed than I have been in a while. I’m ready to tackle this next week head on!

What do you have going on this week? Anything exciting?
How was your long weekend?

I’m glad that you are feeling less stressed! I’m not sure I could do a ghost tour… Things like that scare the $h!t out of me. But a girls weekend sounds fabulous! I’m looking forward to hearing about your training now that you’ve switched up methods. It’s all about what works for you!

They scare me too! This one was much more historical than scary!

Also the tour guide kept saying “just sayin'” over and over again which I found to be so annoying that I could barely pay attention to the ghost stories, haha!

I’m always so impressed with your enjoyment of strength workouts! That ghost tour looks fun/scary. I need to get over it and just do the one we have here in Seattle.

Ohhhh I bet Seattle gives a great ghost tour! The brisk air would totally add to the spookiness!

Adam and I did a ghost tour in Vegas which was pretty fun! It was really interesting to learn about the mafia happenings in Old Vegas!

I’m glad you are refreshed and ready for the week ahead! A long weekend will do that for ya. Can’t wait to watch your vlog when I get home tonight. 🙂 That girl w/ her fan is freaking awesome.

So much to say about the video! Are there alligators in that river? Watching you with your friend Barbara made me miss having girl friends. I don’t hang out with any of my friends anymore. 🙁 For some reason I laughed so hard when you played that campy Halloween music on the ghost store and your guide was bustling up ahead in her read skirt. So funny for some reason! Cecil is sooooooooooooo freaking beautiful, I want to eat him! He looks so innocent. Tell me what he does when he is being a dick… because I KNOW all cats are dicks sometimes! Even my beautiful Jelly Boy.

I have no idea about the alligators! I don’t think there are any though. Most gators are out in the Everglades!

Hahahah yay, I knew you would notice the Halloween music! I wasn’t sure if anyone else would but I knew you would 🙂

When Cecil is being an asshole he bites … really hard …and doesn’t let go. He has drawn blood on both Adam and I several times! He is really kind and sweet to most people, but when he wants something from Adam or I and we’re not paying attention his first instinct is to bite! I have no idea where he learned his bad behavior from as Adam and I are not biters lol.

“I have no idea where he learned his bad behavior from as Adam and I are not biters” <—- BAWAHAHAHHAHA!

I actually pay very close attention to your vlog music and 99% of the time I approve and enjoy every decision. The 1% I did not agree with was one of your beauty vlogs where you put some background music to your talking. I REALLY like listening to your voice (selfish) so I was like noooo music! The music sounded fine and I normal person would not have noticed it but I did. Sorry if I sound creepy. I can't help it.

AHHHH now I am so stressed out about my music choices! Picking music is the last thing I do before uploading my video and by then I am usually tired and choose really quickly! Now I will have to start picking the music first thing so that I make better choices!

Glad you are feeling refreshed and have a plan for your next marathon! I love that feeling of being sore from a good strength workout.

It’s the best! It’s like you can FEEL the gains happening! hahah

  5. September 6, 2016 / 2:18 pm

Well, today is the first day of grad school. Does that count as something exciting going on this week? I think so because I’m a total nerd and am very excited for class 😛

I used Hal Higdon Intermediate the first time I trained for a marathon. I have to say trained for because due to an injury I never made it to the starting line. But overall, I really liked the training plan! The progression up to 20 mile runs felt natural and was very manageable for a first timer. Since you’re a marathon veteran I’m sure you will absolutely crush it with the plan!

That definitely counts!!!! I was always super excited for the first day of class too. I loved school, especially grad school, and I loved buying new notebooks even more! 😀

Your girls weekend sounds great! Just what you needed. My excitement?= I was on a running high after a super great race on Saturday, but now I’m on the major suck boat because my heel/arch hurts. Bad. Never had this pain, and it reminds me of a stress fracture. Isn’t that great with only 5 more days until the marathon? holy crap, not a good day. But I digress… I’m glad you are switching to a plan that you feel comfortable with! Not sure if my Hansons book will get any further use after this marathon. That is, if I ever run again. (oh, the drama!!!).

Oh no!!! At least you are in the taper now and can rest your ankle all week until the race. My fingers are crossed that it starts feeling better asap!

Lift all you can 🙂 That is great to have a little break before training starts. You will be strong and ready!
The TM gal and I would be best buds! I need all the cool air I can get LOL
SHA was a cute movie 🙂
