A Day in the Life Vlog!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a “Day in the Life” post here on the blog.

Today I thought I’d share an update in vlog format!

Just FYI, it’s a bit dark for the first few seconds but then I turn a light on :).

Sadly Duke doesn’t make an appearance in this video, but Cecil is in it since he’s always around me!

Also, I noticed that it may seem kind of weird that you only see one toothbrush and lots of feminine things in the bathroom. This is because Adam and I use separate bathrooms so we stay out of each other’s way when we’re getting ready in the morning. Do you do that too or is that a little weird? We’ve always operated this way, it’s so efficient!

Oh, and of course running is normallyΒ a part of my day, but since I’m currently resting my calf there was no running yesterday.

I was planning to go pool running last night but a slight cold front decided to roll in and I just can’t get in the water if it’s colder than 80 degrees!

I hope you’re having a great week so far. We’re just two days out from the weekend! Whoo!

I love that you guys use separate bathrooms to get ready because Rob and I do the same thing! Right now we have 2 bathrooms in our apartment so why not? When we move this spring and have a master bath in our bedroom we will probably start sharing and that will be interesting:)

    • January 8, 2015 / 7:58 am

Oh good!! I am so glad to hear that we’re not the only ones! It does get interesting when we have guests over and have to share. I am a single child so I never really learned how to share my space, hahah.

How exciting that you’re going to move this spring, into a house?!

  2. January 8, 2015 / 8:40 am

Using separate bathrooms is ideal for any couple (at least I think so). Those are some very creepy faces as well! I would have nightmares if I had to see them everyday. I know I already said this but quartz is so stinking great!! I hope you calf is starting to feel better so you can get back to running soon!!

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:15 pm

      Thanks Staci!

Wasn’t that second face just awful? WHY would anyone make that?!

  3. January 8, 2015 / 9:07 am

I wish we could use separate bathrooms! I have yet to live in an apartment that has more than one…

  4. January 8, 2015 / 9:15 am

If you have the luxury of your own bathroom–by all means! I share with my hubby, and now that the kids are getting older often one of the girls uses our bathroom in the morning too.
Those heads are funny–kind of ominous!
I like the new apartment–thanks for the tour!

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:16 pm

Oh man, I don’t know if I could share with two other people even if I did like them a whole lot because they were my husband and kid! πŸ˜‰ You’re a saint!

  5. January 8, 2015 / 9:39 am

I usually don’t like vlogs that much but I’ve been enjoying yours a lot! The new kitchen looks AMAZING.

I have no idea how you do the Ft. Lauderdale to Miami commute. I visited Miami with some friends back in May, and I decided to fly into FLL and rent a car one way to Miami (only ended up being like $25, kind of unexpectedly awesome). Hellacious. Not as bad as driving around Atlanta, but if I had to do it every day I would probably go nuts! Major props.

Also, Cecil is adorable! I hope we’ll see Duke on camera soon πŸ™‚

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:18 pm

      Thanks Jess!

The commute becomes more tolerable once its just a normal part of your routine. I’ve been traveling down there for almost three years now so I’m used to it. I just settle in each day for the long ride. It only really sucks now when there’s an accident and I’m stuck in the car for much longer…. like yesterday morning when it took me over 2 hours to get to work! UGH!

  6. January 8, 2015 / 10:17 am

Your apartment is so cute! I love the floors and kitchen. My husband and I have a very spacious bathroom, so we share. We have three bathrooms, but don’t really use the other two accept when guests are over. You have such a LONG commute every day. Do you listen to music, books on tape, or… what do you do to pass the time? I remember when I lived in Houston and had to battle traffic, I would use that time to make phone calls (hands free) and catch up with friends.

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:19 pm

I love to call and catch up with friends and my parents during the ride home!

I also listen to sports talk radio every day and I kind of feel like the hosts are my good friends since I spend so much time with them every day, haha

I sometimes listen to books on tape or podcasts (like Serial), but mostly I prefer to chill out and just listen to the sports news πŸ™‚

  7. January 8, 2015 / 10:37 am

I wish we had separate bathrooms! Our house is 3 bed 1 bath – ugh. We do ok with just the two of us, especially because I work from home a lot and he works from home 2 days a week, so we usually don’t have to do a mad morning rush (lots of sweatpants in this house, lol). Over the holidays we had a house full of guests though and that got pretty tricky. It seemed like no matter what we did there was always one person who needed to use the restroom while someone else was in the shower.

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:21 pm

That’s great that you can make the morning rush thing work! Last year Adam started working from home 4 days a week so we probably wouldn’t have that many issues anymore, but we’re just so used to using separate bathrooms we’ve kept it up!

Oh man, that’s the worst when you have to go and someone is taking a long shower!!! I remember dealing with that my freshman year of college when I shared a bathroom with three other girls!

  8. January 8, 2015 / 11:21 am

Separate bathrooms is fantastic. Wow those heads are creepy.

How in the world do we get a Day In The Life vlog without a shout if the beach. You know some of us don’t get to see the beach all that often lol.

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:21 pm

I KNOW, I KNOW, no beach! But when I’m not running I don’t go down to the beach very often. I can’t wait to get back to it next week!!!

  9. January 8, 2015 / 2:05 pm

I love Day In The Life but I especially like them when they are video! Thank you, Kristina! πŸ™‚ Your kitchen IS beautiful. If I lived there, I would spend all my time in the beautiful gym or the beautiful kitchen. πŸ˜‰ I had to laugh at the very beginning of your video all you see is the SHADOW of Cecil! He is READY. πŸ™‚

Also, your voice is so soothing. Will you read me books on tape? WAIT NO you should have a podcast!

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:23 pm

Hahahah I spend too much time in the kitchen looking for kitcheny things to do. I’ve never been so diligent about washing dishes but I love our big deep sink and the countertops so much, haha. I guess I’m officially an adult now!

The gym is amazing and I can bring guests so feel free to come over anytime!

I don’t think I could do a podcast! It takes a lot of work for me to not sound like a little girl, I had to try hard in the video! haha

  10. January 8, 2015 / 2:36 pm

Good for you for resting your calf! I know as runners we always want to push though things and be tough, but it’s so not worth it!
Also, way creepy heads. So strange!

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:24 pm

It’s so true, but I know toughing it out last week is the reason why I’m sitting here this week. Ugh! Just a few more days to go until I’m running again!

Wasn’t that second head just the worst?!?!

  11. January 8, 2015 / 3:21 pm

Fun video!! Do you go to Pilates or Yoga in your building? I don’t know if I’ve ever heard you talk about that before.
Chris and I share a bathroom but it is big and our vanities are on opposite sides so we have completely separate areas! And, he doesn’t use my toilet:) He uses the one in the hallway bath – perfect!!!

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:25 pm

I don’t go to Pilates in the building! When I am done with work for the day I just want to go home, haha. If I didn’t work so far from home I might do it, but as it is I already don’t get home until around 7pm each night.

That’s so awesome that your vanities are on opposite sides! Hahaha funny about the toilet! πŸ™‚

  12. January 8, 2015 / 6:32 pm

I absolutely love the vlog idea! too cool πŸ™‚ eventually I will try it out on my blog too (probably when I’m less camera shy). I hope your calf feels better soon πŸ™‚

  13. January 8, 2015 / 9:27 pm

You have the cutest kitchen!! We’re hoping to get a house or condo this year and that’s the one thing I’m really picky about! I love the island-definitely a must!

We rent a 2bed 2 bath right now, so we use separate bathrooms too!! We figured why not…It was just sitting there not fulfilling its bathroom destiny so I decided to help it live its dream πŸ˜‰ it’s sooo nice when you’re in a hurry and need to get ready!

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:27 pm

Hahahah bathroom destiny! That is such a great way to put it!!!

The island is a bit weird since it doesn’t really leave us any room for a dining table, but we’re not very formal anyway and hardly ever eat at the table. Instead I think we’ll get stools that can tuck under the island and make it a makeshift table for any time that we need one!

  14. January 8, 2015 / 9:28 pm

Matt and I use separate bathrooms too. He comes to bed really late when I’m asleep already so he brushes his teeth etc in the guest bath so I don’t wake up.

Your office looks nice! The weird heads cracked me up.

    • January 8, 2015 / 10:28 pm

That is one of my favorite things about not sharing a bathroom…. Adam’s electric toothbrush is the loudest one I have ever heard in my life! Even all the way across the apartment I can hear it!
