A Few of My (New) Favorite Things!

You know those days where you just feel blah? That’s what I had yesterday.

I tried to start planningΒ my week but had zero motivation. In the end I took a nap around 4pm and slept for an hour. After that I felt better but then the day was over! 😱 πŸ˜‚

Adam and I have been suffering from allergiesΒ really badly lately. I think the rest of the world is too because we went to Target to buy medication and they were all sold out of almost everything!

Even though I’m taking two allergy meds (Claritin and Nasacort) I’m still stuffed up and getting poor sleep which may be why I just felt lifeless this weekend. Also it was rainy (and muggy) out!

I did not go running. This is problematic because, based on the schedule I’m following for the Heroes in Recovery 6K I really needed to do a time trial this weekend.

I need to do this anyway because I haven’t tried pushing myself in a 5K since my last PR and I need to know how bad it’s gotten! I’m going to push the time trial to tomorrow and get it done. Better late than never!

I did get in a little JasyogaΒ with my boy on the cutest yoga mat ever from Dat Mat.

The Dat Mat team sent this to me about a week ago to try out and I’m in love. I get pitched a lot of junk to review, but this is a brand that I can get behind! I mean it’s a yoga mat with chubby cats on it!!!!

I’ll have a full review up after I’ve had a chance to use the mat a few more times. So far, so good :).

Also new to me are Picky Bars. I know these bars have been popular with runners for a few years but I’ve avoided them.

There are some trends I follow and some trends that annoy me. How my mind decides which way to go I’ll never know, but Picky Bars have been on my avoid list since the beginning.

However, there was a Chai and Catch Me Picky Bar in myΒ StrideBoxΒ this month so I gave in and gave it a try. OMG. So good.

I immediately went on Amazon and ordered a variety box so I could try all the flavors. Now they are my go-to snack… and they are PERFECT for eating before a run so now that solves my issue of what to eat during my commute after work.

This sounds like a commercial for Picky Bars but it isn’t, I just genuinely really love them now! For anyone interested they are free from gluten, dairy, soy and GMOs; also some of them are vegan.

Anyway, enough product endorsements… if you’re interested in vlogs I posted one yesterday that I filmed on Saturday!

I hope you have a great Monday. Talk again soon!

What’s your favorite bar flavor?
Are your pets (or kids) all up in your business when you get down on the floor to do yoga?! πŸ˜€

I receive StrideBox every month for freeΒ and I also received the Dat Mat for free. I am under no obligation to post about StrideBox, the products inside it or about Dat Mat. I’m doing it just because I want to!Β

I really like that Picky Bar in the Stridebox! It didnt sound like something I would like but it was really good. Hope you allergies clear up soon! Ive just been sneezing alot, which I can deal with, so I havent had to take any meds at this point.

I KNOW!!! I totally looked at the flavor and thought “there is no way I’m going to like this” but it’s so good!

Dat Mat is very cool. There are protein bars from Aldi that I really love but unfortunately they are really expensive. I do buy them but save them for very specific situations- like when I need something quick and don’t have time and I’m in the car. Just like you and your picky bars!

Oh i know! Picky Bars are definitely not cheap but I think they will be worth it since I am terrible at remembering to have a snack before I leave work. They remind me a lot of Cliff Bars except they are smaller which I like. I can never eat a full Cliff Bar and then I end up throwing part of it away which is such an expensive waste!

I tried Picky Bars years ago and really liked them, but unfortunately they are too pricey for me to justify buying on the regular.

I was having a blah off day yesterday too. I was dreading Monday from the minute I woke up Sunday and just couldn’t get motivated to do anything productive. Is it Memorial Day Weekend yet? I feel like I really need a day off, lol.

I am counting down the days until Memorial weekend, I need an extra day off too! That is what home ownership does to you. It runs you into the ground! haha

I haven’t tried the picky bars and I think I once saw them at a Gas Station or something. Will keep an eye on them from now on.

My favorite bar flavor is the white chocolate macadamia from Clift. That’s pretty much the only bar I eat, and I also LOVE the Lenny & Larry’s cookies. They’re a little bit high in sugar, but I only eat half of one at a time and they give me so much energy before my runs. Plus the flavor and texture is incredible. I don’t really need to go for a run to get an excuse for eating them.

Adam loves the Lenny and Larry cookies too. I haven’t tried one yet but I did try a competitor brand. I wasn’t a huge fan since it was super sweet like a cookie but with that whey protein aftertaste. I will have to try a nibble of the Lenny and Larry cookie if Adam lets me (he probably wont hahahah)!

I’ve never tried Picky bars, but I’ve heard great things. I eat Clif bars a lot–my favorite flavor is Crunchy Peanut Butter. πŸ™‚ My dog definitely is right on top of me if I get on the floor to stretch or do yoga. I usually have to go in a separate room and shut the door if I don’t want to constantly push her out of the way. πŸ™‚

I love the crunchy PB from cliff bars too! My only problem is that cliff bars are too big for me as a snack. Unless I’m starving I tend to get sick of them about halfway through and then I throw part of the bar away … and they are kind of too expensive to end up as trash. The Picky Bars taste like the cliff bars but they are much smaller :).

Are picky bars moist, or more dry? Chewy? I am all about texture lol I have not tried them either.

They are Chewy and moist like a Cliff Bar but smaller. IMO cliff bars are too big (I get tired of the taste about halfway through) so these are perfect!

I swear by Breathe Right strips to sleep these days. My Claritin-D and Nasocort are useless without them. They help during the day but not when I’m sleeping!

Late to the party, but if you are ever looking for a cheaper alternative the Clif kids bars are about half the size of a regular clif bar and are delicious!
