My running this week has been completely nonexistent.
Total mileage: 0.
I’ve been putting in 10 hour days at work, getting ready for vacation and just generally trying to listen to my body and rest my hips so that the bursitis gets resolved as quickly as possible.
By the time you read this I will already be in the middle of the ocean on a cruise ship. We left yesterday afternoon! (Don’t worry Cecil’s babysitter cat sitter is on duty and taking good care of him!)
My goal for this cruise is to do the four R’s:
- Rest
- Re-charge
- Read
- Run
My hips are feeling a lot better after what feels like way too many days off in a row. It’s been about a week!
I can now easily sleep on either side without any discomfort in my hips, and I haven’t felt the searing pain in my hips or even those awful lower back aches in a couple of days now. I think I’m healed and ready to start slowly getting back into running.
During this trip my hope is to run 1 – 4 miles each day based completely on feel.
I am planning to try and get at least one outdoor run in when we dock in Cozumel.
While the water is absolutely gorgeous in Cozumel, the area in which I know I’ll run isn’t really the nicest. I think the path I run in Fort Lauderdale far exceeds it (I’m so biased, I know!).
HOWEVER, I love syncing my Garmin in international locations and even though we’ve been to Cozumel many times I’ve never gone running there! It’s time to rectify that situation!
Even if I only run one mile in Cozumel that will be one more mile than I’ve run all week and I know it’ll feel good to get the legs moving again.
I hope that you had a great week and are looking forward to some fun activities this weekend!
How many states and/or countries have you run in?
I love your goals for vacation. 🙂 Enjoy!
Bon voyage! Have fun and enjoy your vacation!
Enot your vacation!
Have a wonderful vacation! I hope you get your international run in! I have only been to Canada, and when we were there, it was only for like 2 hours to see Niagara Falls, so I didn’t run. But I normally always run when we travel to another state for vacation. Of course the most beautiful places I have run were in California. 🙂 Also, I have run early morning in Central Park and that was really cool too!
Ahhhhh enjoy your CRUISE! So jealous! We go on ours in 3.5 months and I cannot WAIT! And OMG I am so gonna try that whole running in another country thing when we do!! Thanks for the heads up!
I hope your vacation is as relaxing and refreshing as it possibly could be. BON VOYAGE!
Have a great trip, take lots of pictures
Yay! Enjoy vacation! Glad your hips are the up and up!
Not sure about states, but I’ve ran in 3 countries: Thailand (granted it was on a treadmill), Germany and France.
Ummm even the fact that you COULD do ANYTHING in Cozumel is amazing and I’m completely jealous. Enjoy every minute!
Enjoy your vacation! I am so happy your hips are feeling better. YAY.
I ran on our cruise to Alaska. Have also run many times in Mexico and a handful of states other than Colorado (CA, NJ, NV, OR, FL, SD). I personally love running at sea level since normally I am almost a mile high.
Happy vacation! Enjoy it! You’ve totally earned a rest.
Have a FABULOUS time on your vacation. Regardless of how many miles you are able to run, I’m sure the R&R will be great for you mind and body. I am looking forward to using my Garmin when I go to Mexico next month. I have actually never used my Garmin in a different country, but I have used it in several states. Enjoy the sunshine and margaritas!!! (at least have one for me)
I hope you have a wonderful time on your holidays, make sure to tell us everything when you return! 🙂
I hope you have a fabulous trip!!!
SO glad to hear the hips are cooperating and you are sleeping better 🙂
Can’t wait to see the pretty pics.
That’s great progress on your hips! Running on vacation for some reason is always better than running at home. It’s like your legs know they’re supposed to be having a good time no matter what. 🙂
Have a great trip!
LUUUUCCCCCKKKKYYYYYYY! I’m so jealous. Enjoy your cruise, and it sounds like you are doing EXACTLY what your body needs. Don’t sweat it!
Have an awesome time, and if you do run, I’m sure that as long as you listen to your body you’ll be fine!
I’m glad your hips are feeling better! Enjoy your trip!
Have an amazing vacation! I hope you are able to run as much as you hope to 🙂
Enjoy your trip! It is definitely well deserved!
I hope that you are having a super time already!! Enjoy every second and make sure that the rest/recharge is your main goal:) Hope you are able to get in some nice easy runs!!
Can’t wait to see some awesome vacation pictures!!!
Have a blast on vacation!!!! 😀
