A1A Half Marathon Weekend is Here!

Yesterday I was casually browsing the Internet as I do from time and time and came across this picture of Cecil and I:

Thanks to whoever shot the pic, it turned out great. 😏

Seriously though, Rajah is the best Disney pet!

This weekend instead of sleeping in with my pet, I’ll be getting up early on Sunday for the A1A Half Marathon.

If I’m being honest, yesterday I thought about DNS’ing this race. After a couple of lackluster half marathons recently, my heart just doesn’t feel in it the way I have in previous years.

That being said, there are plenty of reasons to still do this race:

A.) I don’t want to lose out on the registration fee.
B.) I have to get in a long run, so I might as well get a medal too.
C.) I would have to wake up early anyway to go cheer on my friends so I might as well run!
D.) Once I’m crossing the finish line I’ll be glad I did it.
E.) Sunday is Valentine’s Day and I do love running at the beach!

I haven’t gotten great sleep this week which I think might be part of the reasonΒ I started thinking about DNSing yesterday morning. I’m sure after a good night’s rest I’ll be excited about running my favorite course again.

I got in a cold 5K on that course last night – it was 61*F! Brrr!

I’m enjoying every minute of this cold weather because I’m sure it’s going to go away at any second.

So, I mentioned the other day that I was trying a meal delivery service out this week. I LOVE the whole concept of pre-made meal delivery and the process is phenomenal. I wake up in the morning, check outside my door, and my pre-made meals are sitting there waiting for me in a hot/cold container.

The company I used this week was Deliver Lean and theyΒ have meals that meet all kinds of demands from gluten free to paleo and vegan. When you sign up for the program you just go on their website, log into your account and choose your meals from the 90+ options they make available each week.

I chose to have two meals per day delivered and my cost for 5 days wasΒ just under $150.

(This isn’t sponsored. I have no affiliation with Deliver Lean.)

The whole food delivery process is great but the food has beenΒ incredibly bland – almost like eating paper. The only meal I’ve had so far that was good was the chicken marsala with brown rice and asparagus.

Because the food is fairly flavorless and the cost is pretty high for the portion size, I’ve beenΒ pretty disappointed.

I won’t be renewing my subscription to Deliver Lean, but I am trying out another service that has come highly recommended to me. The food looks much tastier and the cost is slightly less. For 10 meals the price with delivery fee is about $120. I’ve got high hopes because I did like the fact that I didn’t have to do any meal prep this week. I just made my breakfast and the rest of the day was set out for me! I’ll let you know how it goes!

Have you ever used or thought about using a meal delivery service? If so, which one? Would love to hear your thoughts!
Any big plans for the weekend?!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! <3

I’m feeling “bleh” about A1A too. I’ve been exhausted/almost-sick/run down this week. The idea of traveling, sleeping away from home, and waking up early is just…ugh. But I know I’ll regret it if I don’t go. I hope I end up pleasantly surprised and happy with the race. I know it will be beautiful and I know it will be worth it, but all I want to do is sleep.

…that said, I can’t wait to see you, so that’ll be worth it!

You have me laughing so hard at the pic of you and Cecil. πŸ™‚

Meal delivery is out of my price range but I am sure if I could swing it, it would be something fun to try!

I agree, nothing sounds like a good idea when we’re tired. You will feel great after getting some sleep. I hope you have fun at the half!!

It was 7 degrees this morning.

I’d take your cold weather over ours any day!

Good luck this weekend! I know how you feel about the race. It’s exactly how I felt about my two halves this fall that I didn’t train for. It’s so interesting that it felt like I was the only one going through that at the time, and now I’m watching so many of my blog friends feel the same way about their own training/racing/running. But, there’s nothing wrong with feeling “meh” about a race or your heart not being into it. Now that we’re not new runners anymore, we’re just not going to muster the same excitement for all of our races. Just comes with the territory.

Good luck and have a great race! I’m sure you will indeed feel glad you did it πŸ™‚

I AM the food delivery service for this household!! (haha) With a family of 5 (3 teenagers) there is NO WAY we could afford to have that. We are at the stage where it seems impossible to keep food in the house–it is INHALED!! (I remember mentioning to Dave before kids, that we should join Jenny Craig, because they deliver food to your door!)
That is disappointing that the food is bland, hopefully the next delivery will be better!
You will have fun this weekend, you just have to get to the starting line! ENJOY!!

I’m glad you are still running A1A! I certainly was wondering for a little while if I early wanted to do the race. I’m glad I am sticking it out though… Even if I am kinda tired from marathon training.

I don’t do a meal delivery service, but I’ve heard that blue apron is good. I really enjoy cooking and since we are vegetarian, the price of the meals are just way too much.

I’m so glad you decided to do the race, it will be fun even if it’s just a long run! Also, Florida must have sent all their hot weather to CA this week because it’s been 90+ and that is sooo crazy for February!

I think you’ll enjoy the race for sure. I haven’t had the best of luck with delivery service options but I do know a lot of people love it.

Since I haven’t lived by myself in over 15 years, I’ve never considered a meal delivery service because there would still be the effort and expense of feeding the other person(s) in the household. My girlfriend did Nutrisystem a few years back, lost a ton of weight, but still had to cook separate meals for her family. And then she gained it all back when she stopped the delivery service.

Not that you have cook for him or anything like that, but Adam will be eating something different? You’ll sit down to two different meals? Or maybe you don’t have dinner together very often anyway? Sorry, not trying to be nosy!

We don’t eat dinner together that often. On Tues and Thurs nights he goes to MMA class and doesn’t get home until 10pm so we definitely eat separately on those days. On Weds he’s home all evening but I don’t get home from my run until 8pm so he eats dinner before I get home.

Also because he lifts a lot he often just has a huge protein shake for dinner with a small dish of something else (his protein shakes are meal replacements at about 1400 cals).

I like when do eat together but most nights it’s just not practical.

Good luck tomorrow! I hope you are able to get a good nights sleep tonight and enjoy the race tomorrow.

I feel like every other week you are off racing somewhere. I guess this is the time of year to do it in Florida. Good luck this weekend. Hopefully the spectators give you lots of love on Valentine’s Day! πŸ™‚
