About Kristina

Hi! I’m Kristina and running is my favorite hobby.

This blog is all about my life which means if you stick around you’ll read about three things: Adam (my other half), Cecil (my cat) and running.

I’m currently 31 years old and didn’t start running until right before I turned 26.

I did couch to 5K and ran my first 5K on Feb 2, 2013.

I then ran my first half marathon on Nov. 10, 2013 and my first full marathon on October 5, 2014.

My ultimate goal is to run a 50-miler. Most of my blog will document my training toward reach this goal! (You can read about my other running goals here.)

I am obsessed with ultramarathoning and if you read my blog you’ll hear me talking about it a lot. My ultra running idols are Scott Jurek, Anton Krupicka, Timothy Olson and Seb Chaigneau!

When I started running it would take me 17 minutes to go a full mile. As of May 2013 I can do one mile in 11 minutes. That may not sound fast to you but it’s fast compared to where I started – and I’m proud of it.

Plus, haven’t you ever heard? Slow and steady wins the race. Okay, so I’m never actually going to win a race but running has taught me a lot about perseverance and determination. I hope I never forget my earliest “running” days when it would hurt to run/walk half a mile. Those days taught me so much.

I also really like cross training doing core work like planking, and I also like weightlifting!

This is my beach and you can find me running there six days a week.

Here’s my kitty Cecil who gets featured on the blog a lot. I think he’s the most perfect thing in the whole world.

If you stick around be prepared to see a lot of him :). img_5870

I also love to travel and tend to have a few exciting trips planned each year. Here I am on Mount Vesuvius in Italy, one of the coolest places I’ve ever been!

I also really like makeup/beauty products even if I’m not that great at applying them. I’m learning!

Currently I’m transitioning my beauty collection into one that is 100% cruelty free. I like to use a mix of drugstore brands and high end stuff.

My life is pretty darn good. I don’t have to run away from my problems, I just do it for fun!

Disclaimer: Occasionally I work with brands to promote their running related products. I am very picky about the brands I work with, and also very honest in my reviews. You may see affiliate links on this site for Under Armour. I live in their running clothes and honestly cannot recommend a better brand. I make a small commission if you purchase something from the Under Armour website through one of my links, this helps offset some of the hosting costs for this blog. You may also occasionally see affiliate links from Amazon to products that I love. If you ever have a question or concern about a link you can email me: runkristina@gmail.com!

Hi Kristina, congrats on starting your journey in running! I didn’t start running until after college, same as you, and although I’m on a brief break right now from running (my kids are 4 and >1 year old), I plan to return to a life of half marathons (I’ve done 14!). Good luck on the goal to do a 50-miler before you turn 30!!

First off, excellent post and so much great stuff in there – rest is incredibly important, and it is how your body recovers that dictates everything. I think more and more things keep appearing that back that up, or at least that is what I have been reading.
I think I tend to be happy with about one rest day and 50-55 miles in the winter and 60 or so in the summer.
And whether or not that is optimal for me being a ‘better runner’, really doesn’t matter. It works great with my time and love of getting out there, and I feel great. I’m sure a coach would knock me upside the head and totally change things up on me, but I really don’t care. There are so many bloggers out there and it’s hard to keep track of everyone! Thanks for this list and for including me! Check My recent post
