Absolutely Bananas!

Hey there! Sorry I went missing for a couple of days but my schedule has been absolutely bananas. I’ve been up and out the door by 6am and haven’t gotten home until 7:30-8pm three days in a row.

A client of mine hosts a conference in Miami Beach every year and Monday and Tuesday I had to be onsite. The days were long but I’ve been super involved in marketing the conference all year so it was nice to see it all come together with a nice big crowd of who’s-who in the tech world. And pop culture world too.

I got to see everyone from Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple) to Pitbull (Mr. Worldwide) all the way to Shiza Shahid, co-founder of the Malala Fund (so inspiring). Each lended such unique insight into what drives them, makes them successful and motivates them.

Shiza Shahid is possibly the most incredible women I’ve had the chance to share a room with. If you don’t know her story, go look it up. Wow.

My absolute favorite session was a keynote between Pitbull and Suze Orman. You wouldn’t think to put these two together but they not only had great on-stage chemistry and were HILARIOUS, but have very similar stories. Both grew up dirt poor and were super driven to get to the top of their fields.

They were honestly great together.

Oh and in case you’re wondering, I DID come home and make chicken and veggies both nights instead of popping in a frozen pizza!!! Having those pre-made bags of fresh veggies definitely made the decision a lot easier because I came home absolutely exhausted both nights of the conference.

It may not look pretty but it tasted great. Almost as great as my bed felt when I finally crawled under the sheets :). Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, there’s nothing like that feeling of getting into bed after a long day. I love it.

Yesterday I had to play catch up at work since I was out Monday and Tuesday which is why I got home super late again. Since I’m not able to run right now I ate the best tasting cantaloup and then got in a strength training workout.

(Nothing makes me feel better like super ripe cantaloup. It’s possibly my favorite food in the world.)

Similar to how Sam always says she doesn’t like that Kayla Itsines workout is called the Bikini Body Guide, I don’t love that this is called the Get Gorgeous Guide.

The Get Fit Guide or Get Super Sore From Doing All the Squats and Lunges Guide or something like that would be better but whatever. The name isn’t enough to make me stop using it.

Cecil always comes around when I workout but he doesn’t really participate. He’s mostly there for moral support I guess.

When I was at PT last week they gave me a piece of resistance band to take home. I’ve never had the kind before where you can tie it to fit your needs. I have the tube kind with handles which doesn’t really work for workouts like this.

I never thought these flimsy little sheets of rubber could add much resistance so I didn’t worry about not using it… but I was wrong! It totally does add pretty good resistance and makes the workout that much more challenging.

I’m not sure I look like Carly, but my toenails are painted and that’s something to be proud of. They’re the same color as my fingernails (Sally Hansen Peppy Le Fuschia) which is a bold pink for summer!

Anyway, I gotta run. It’s 9pm and my bed is already calling to me. I’ll talk to you again tomorrow!

    I didn’t like the name Bikini Body Guides either! I would just say BBG and tried to ignore what it stands for. Glad you made it through your conference! This is always such a busy time of year for me- everyone else is the school system is starting their vacation and Im gearing up for trainings, conferences, and planning for next year!

    Wow–amazing conference! I can totally see how Suze Orman would have chemistry w/ Pit Bull! I did used to watch her show (on Friday nights…if that doesn’t scream lame married lady, I am not sure what does). I learned a ton (I am fascinated with being really smart with money and it does actually work if you do a few things correctly). Her demeanor and style is so funny and sometimes (OK a lot of times) way over the top but I just laugh and can’t look away! I am happy you spent the extra money to make your life easy and healthy! I bet you feel great about eating wonderful meals after a long day. I will say cantaloupe is one of my faves and so is watermelon but Colorado has the best peaches from the western slope. We order a box (or two) directly from the farm each summer and plow through them! You should come visit so you can try for yourself!

      Ohhh those peaches do sound good. I have to peel the fuzzy skin off though! As a kid I thought peaches and nectarines were the same thing, and that there was something wrong with the nectarines with fuzz! haha

      Suze is so funny. I never watched her show but now I do want to do her financial university! I love learning financial tips too, and I’m obsessed with saving for retirement so it’ll be good to pick up some new advice!

    Pitbull and Suze would be a great combination to see!! Fun!!! I’m big fans of both of them. Looks like a great work excursion!
    I was supposed to go to my PT appt yesterday and get a routine, but it had to be rescheduled. I’m actually looking forward to doing some exercises, in hopes of getting somewhere.

      Ah I hope it got rescheduled for soon. I know that anxious feeling. I’ve been waiting to hear back about when I can schedule my MRI for a week now. I’m hopeful my insurance company approves it today!

    My dog always stands basically right on top of me when I try to workout at home. I think she’s trying to figure out what I am doing. I love all summer fruit I think…my favorite might be strawberries. It’s hard to decide. I saw Suze Orman at a conference once and really liked her!

    I freaking love Suze! I want her to come make over my money. I mean, we are fine with our money but we could be MORE FINE I’m sure. I’m glad your busy days are over and kudos to you for making chicken and veggies! During the summer, it’s hard for me to eat those… At work, I am forced to eat whatever I pack for lunch but in the summer, I am left to my own devices! So far I have been doing pretty good.

      Exactly! We can always be more fine with our finances. I want to take her university course. I need to save better for retirement, I don’t think I am contributing enough. I read somewhere that due to inflation we will need at least 1.1 million dollars or something to retire comfortably. That seems awfully high to me as I hope to have very few bills when I retire but IDK?!?!?

    I can not imagine Suze and Pitbull together lol I am big Pitbull fan though 🙂
