Vlog: Adam Left Us

… for the weekend :). He gets home today and I cannot wait to see him!

While A was away I stayed busy at the house (painting + decorating), and I also did a little shopping and of course some running! You can check out my weekend Day in the Life style vlog here:

Cecil was a great little helper all weekend of course :).

The craziest thing happened to me this weekend. Something that many runners would consider a NIGHTMARE.

About .5 miles into my long run my phone battery died! That kind of thing never happens to me because I am obsessed with battery life. I charge my phone all the time, and I have a Mophie for those just in case moments.

I failed myself this weekend though.

I had to get up really early on Sunday to meet the Comcast guy (who never showed up), and so I decided to take a power nap in the afternoon before I went running. Unfortunately I woke up soooo groggy and disoriented after the nap. I basically just stumbled out of the house without even looking to see what my battery life was. It was like 8% :(.

I had to run for a very long time in silence. Wow. What an experience!

I just kept reminding myself that when I first started running I never listened to anything and enjoyed “feeling one with nature.” <–Literally what I used to think.

So, I have no pics from my run which means like… did it even really happen?

Oh you bet it happened. Two and a half hours of nothing but my and my thoughts was very real! haha

Ah, oh well, I survived! 🙂 I hope you had a great weekend!

Do you like to run without listening to anything?
How was your run over the weekend? What was the temp like?
I’m living vicariously through all of you with cold weather!

I listen to podcasts when I run on the weekends but nothing during the week. On Friday it was so cold that my phone died…even though I don’t need it for music I like to be able to take pictures!

There are times when I really can’t listen to music during my runs. When I’m working through something in my head, music helps. Or if I’m trying to distract myself from the pace or temperature or something, I’ll crank up the jams… But at the start of every race or anytime I wanna focus, I can’t have any music playing. I just listen to my breathing and my footfalls.

The area rug is beautiful! It looks absolutely perfect. Look how quickly Cecil knows where the kitchen is and where he can get food! 🙂 Girl, your fridge is HUGE! I mean, HUGE!!!!! I know you know this, but the size really comes across well on your Vlog. So what were Adam and his dad doing in Vegas? Does he like to gamble?
Wow, 2.5 hours IS a long time to go in silence. Whenever I have the unfortunate situation of my mp3 player dying mid run or before a run, I try to think of blog post ideas to pass the time. So I will make the goal of thinking of one idea for every half mile. The challenge is to REMEMBER the idea. So it gets harder as the run goes on because I need to not only come up with a new idea but remember the previous ones.
I enjoyed this Vlog so much! You are very charming. 

I don’t like to listen to anything during my runs. I used to NEED music, even during races, when I first started out but I gradually weaned myself off of it and now I rarely run with it! I can’t listen to podcasts or ebooks because my mind wanders too much when I run and I can’t pay attention.

I always carry my phone, mostly for safety reasons (and to snap pics!), but I hate this time of year because the cold makes my phone die even when it is fine on battery life. It’s part of the reason I try to avoid running outside when it’s this cold (this morning and all yesterday it was below 0!!) – my phone might die trying to call for help and if I’m stranded outside things could get very dangerous very fast.

Great vlog, I think he place is coming together great. I keep chargers all over the place and I still find myself at 25% all the time.

Music while running?? What’s that?? You’re supposed to listen to the harmony of your own labored breathing while you run….right??

Weekend run was awesome, supposed to get 15 but ended up with a Starbucks run instead. i have to blog about it lol.

I do listen to music when I run. I’m still enjoying nature outside and all, but it masks the sound of me panting!! I can’t stand that sound. Makes me think I’m working a lot harder than I might be. That would be a bummer to not have music/podcasts available on a long run like that 🙁

I can still enjoy running without music once in awhile, but for longer runs I really need my music these days. And I find it’s kind of hard to find a rhythm and just enjoy my runs when I’m running in silence…or to the accompaniment of cars, since I don’t have a nice quiet place to run.
