An Exciting Project!

Last week I mentioned that I’ve been working on an exciting passion project over the last couple of months. Today I’m super excited to tell you about the launch ofΒ BEAMMΒ a little online shop where a donation is made to an animal shelter for every product you purchase!

You can check out the site and my first two products HERE!

Every night I’ve been spending a little bit of time coming up with product ideas, testing designs, reviewing product samples, sourcing the actual products, working on the website, building up the Instagram account (follow @beammco), taking pictures, reaching out to shelters, etc.

It’s been a nonstop learning process, but also really rewarding :).

Here are just a few of the mousepad samples I’ve tested. Before this I had no idea there were so many sizes, shapes, thicknesses, materials, etc. for mousepads. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge about how desk products and office supplies are made!

So far every single thing having to do with BEAMM has been done by me and one friend who is a photo editor. She’s helped me color correct some of my pictures for the website, but other than that BEAMM is my baby. I’m really proud of how it’s coming together!

Both of the products available now are the highest quality (I tested a bunch of options just to make sure) and made in the USA! I could have gotten them cheaper from a Chinese factory, and then I could have sold them cheaper, but having them made in the USA was important to me.

Right now I have a bunch of The Cat’s Meow mousepads in stock and ready to ship! In fact I have boxes of these cute mousepads sitting in my office next to me right now and I’m even using one of them :).

Currently there’s only one The Cat’s Meow mug in existence and it’s all mine. I’ve sneakily included it in a couple of blog posts over the last few weeks. I flipping LOVE IT. It’s honestly the cutest coffee / tea mug in existence!

Soon you’ll be able to have one too. The mugs are on order and I should have stock in and ready to ship in less than 2 weeks :).

If you decide you would like to pre-order one you can take $5 off with the promo code KRISTINASFRIEND.

I have LOTS of ideas for other products I’d like to add to the shop, but if you have any ideas I would love to hear those too!

I’m so excited I’m able to finally share the Beamm website with you. I really hope that I can make the shop successful and raise a good amount of money for animal shelters over time. Marketing is what I do for a living, so I’m also excited to put my skills to use on my own project!

And YES doggo products coming soon :).

Don’t forget to use promo code KRISTINASFRIEND to save $5 on your order if you decide to purchase anything!

What type of products do you think I should add to the shop?Β

Congratulations! What a purrfect venture for you (sorrynotsorry, I love puns!).

I ordered a mousepad, thank you for the discount code and for offering free shipping. I seriously hate paying for shipping. Next I will need a laptop sleeve in a similar print πŸ™‚

That is such exciting news! I am so proud of you, my friend!

Thanks Susan! I’m a go-go-go kind of person and I was worried I would get lost in my own head if I didn’t start a new project now that I’m not spending hours running. Lifting is great but it doesn’t take up nearly as much time as running!

VERY cool, congratulations! It’s so interesting to hear about everything that goes into creating a small business/online shop.

Maybe along the lines of the coffee mug, you could make cute little food and water dishes? Or a mat to go under food and water dishes so messy little kitties like ours don’t make the floor all gross? Hehe.

Thanks Hanna! That’s such a good idea, I’ll definitely look into the mat. Cecil could use one of those too!

Awesome job, Kristina! I am in awe of people who put the time and energy into learning something brand new! As you know from our chat convo, I wouldn’t even know how to go about doing any of this.

I like Hannah’s idea of cat/dog food and water dishes. As a teacher, my first thought was STICKERS!!!! I would definitely buy those.
