Are You Ready?!

Last night’s run was wind-whipping-giant-rain-drops-in-your-face soggy. I couldn’t see two feet in front of me during the last mile.

20150209_191440It went from 0 to hurricane about 30 seconds after I took this picture. I guess that’s nature’s way of letting me know I shouldn’t be stopping mid-run to take pics!

I got the memo! I won’t do it again!

…. and now DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!!!!!

I’m really excited to say that registration for the virtual Race for PAWS 5K and 10K is now open!

Paws Chicago virtual 5k

I cannot thank all of you who will participate enough. You’re helping to save the lives of homeless dogs and cats waiting to find their forever homes – that is something to be proud of!

Here’s what you need to know:

– The race fee is a donation of $20.00 for both the 5K and 10K (but you can donate more if you would like)

– All finisher’s can receive an olympic themed finisher’s medal paid for by me as a thank you

– Top 3 finishers is both the 5K and 10K will receive a second special medal indicating their finishing place (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

Registration must be completed by March 10th to participate

Here’s what you need to do to register:

Step 1: Please make a donation of at least $20.00 via my PAWS Chicago fundraising page. A donation of $26.20 would be cool but not necessary! 🙂

Step2: Fill out the form here to complete your registration no later than March 10, 2015.

Step 3: Complete your 5K or 10K race by March 20th and email me proof of your results (Garmin pic would work). All finishers can receive a finisher’s medal. The top 3 finishers at each distance will receive a special medal.

I will mail out all of the medals on March 21st.

If you would like to have your pet featured on the blog please email me ( a picture and a story about your pet — the story of the day you rescued your pet would be great! 🙂 I love reading these stories!

Let’s do this!!

Are you ready?!

  1. February 10, 2015 / 7:19 am

Yay! I can’t wait to race in the virtual 5K and support your fundraising for Team PAWS 🙂

Man, such weird weather around the country. I heard Boston’s mayor wants everyone to stay home…again…because they’re supposed to be getting even MORE snow. Some parts have gotten over 5 feet! Can you imagine?

    • February 10, 2015 / 2:53 pm

Thanks Jess! I seriously cannot imagine being snowed in. It must be such a pain to warm up your car and drive when it’s that cold out! Brrrr!

I’m cold just thinking about it!

  2. February 10, 2015 / 7:41 am

I am glad it isn’t raining here. We have so much snow on our roof, it would mean trouble. We are really being blessed with snow–2 hour delay today!
Would’ve been a good day for the Go-pro!
Signing up for the virtual race today!

    • February 10, 2015 / 2:54 pm

Thank you so much for your donation yesterday and signing up for the race!

If you can run outdoors it would be cool for you to get that pesky Strava record while running the race 😉

  3. February 10, 2015 / 11:14 am

Yeah, virtual race!! I’m going to run mine on Friday!

    • February 10, 2015 / 2:54 pm

Thank you for your donation Lizzy!!!

I can’t wait to hear how it goes! Don’t forget to send me your results… although I’ll probably see them on your blog anyway 🙂

  4. February 10, 2015 / 1:02 pm

I have a question about the virtual race – I am running a 5K race this weekend, can I count that? I’m happy to be ineligible for a top finisher placement if you think it would give me an unfair advantage to be in a race environment. Just thought that since I’m already doing a race it would be a good way to combine the two and a fun way to support you and Team PAWS in the process 🙂

And I’d love to email you cat pics for the blog! I already have tons of them 🙂

    • February 10, 2015 / 2:56 pm

Hey Hanna! I think it’s totally fine to use the race this weekend as the virtual race too.

Looking forward to the cat pics! Send over a little story too! 🙂

  5. February 10, 2015 / 2:26 pm

Super fun!! I don’t have a pet and there is a good chance that I will do mine on the treadmill, hope that’s OK!!!

    • February 10, 2015 / 2:57 pm

Totally okay!!! I should have made the race a 5K/10K/50K so that you would have a race distance you like on there 🙂

  6. February 10, 2015 / 2:48 pm

This is a really awesome idea! I signed up and I’ll run it some time after the A1A Half. Thanks for doing this!

    • February 10, 2015 / 2:58 pm

Hey Kerry! Thanks for signing up and for sending over the pic and story of Elly! She is so so cute!

Cecil wakes me up at ungodly hours too. His new thing is wanting his breakfast at 4:30 in the morning!

  7. February 10, 2015 / 6:11 pm

Ooh I can’t wait to run this one! It’s for a great cause and I’m excited to help you out for your next marathon!
