Back to Running, Hallelujah!

It feels so amazing to be able to post today and say that I went running yesterday! I haven’t been getting great sleep and had no energy when I got home from work, but by the end of the run I was full of energy.

My calves felt moderately tight and I had to stop and stretch them a couple of times, but just slipping back into my favorite routine of running after work felt great!

When I got home I found Barbs chilling on the couch after a long day. She had to drive into downtown Miami. I do not envy that! I drive into midtown every day for work and that’s about as much traffic as I can handle.

I think B and I are going to run a 5K together soon! She plays tennis and is used to sprinting around, but her personal trainer has her working on endurance now as well. I’m so excited!

I’d totally push Cecil in his stroller at a 5K if I didn’t think he would be terrified. I’m pretty positive all of the people and noise would be too much for him to handle though. He enjoys calm, laid back days.

He’s perfect. I won’t patronize him by saying purrfect :).

Speaking of things that are running related, the “yoga” videos my new coach is having me do are SO HARD. I thought yoga was supposed to be relaxing! The glute video I did on Monday kicked my butt, literally.

I really like having a supplemental yoga video each day, although I think I may need to try and get it done in the mornings.

When I get home from my run in the evenings I already have so much to do (shower, make dinner, stretch, blog, prep my lunch for the next day, etc). I’m finding myself really tight on time in the evenings right now.

I’d love if we could add a few additional hours in the day! 🙂

    I woud LOVE a few extra hours in the day! I find that if I dont do all my workout stuff in the morning that it won’t get done. Some evenings are just too hectic and I am much less likely to be motivated. Yoga can definitely be challenging! So glad you got to run yesterday!

    Yay for running! I’m still putting off getting back into it after my foot injury at the beginning of January. I tried last weekend and my foot was not having it; walking is fine for now.. I think I’ll just try each weekend and see if it’s up for running or not. It’s tough considering that my next half is in April and I should be training, but I know healing 100% will be much better in the long run.

      It’s so true! By holding back a couple of days now you’ll ensure you don’t injure yourself further. Imagine if you couldn’t participate in the half at all, that would stink! My fingers are crossed for you that your foot is feeling 100% this weekend!

    So happy you got a run in yesterday! Awesome. There is so much to fit in sometimes it’s hard to do it all. I mainly do everything in the morning but often times I will sneak in an afternoon yoga session (it’s easy for me to do because my office/art studio/yoga studio are where I am hanging out at the end of the day so I can throw my mat down and get in a short session). I would say 90% of the time I follow along yoga on YT and sometimes I just turn on my music and do my own thing!

      That must be so nice to get in a workout midday. Since Adam works from home three days a week he’s usually able to get in a workout during his lunch break which I am very jealous about! Then again it’s so hot here in the middle of the day that I wouldn’t be able to go running anyway… but it would be nice to have the option 🙂

    I try to workout in the morning, because then it’s guaranteed it will get done…otherwise it’s about a 50/50 shot. That being said, I skipped the gym this morning, so I have to try to run after I get home–let’s hope it actually happens! In the summer I actually prefer working out in the evening though; since it’s light until like 10 pm, I just run around 8:30 (plus it’s cooler then). I like yoga videos, but I’m definitely not in the habit of doing them. I know they are good for me, but I continually put them off. 😐

      Oh wow you go so late! I thought I went late when I used to head out around 7pm.

    I’ve done plenty of split day workouts. Run in the morning, lift at night. Run in the morning and run at lunch. Have to get it in while I can.

    Glad to see you running again. Btw we are going to Elimination Chamber this weekend ?

      That must be so nice to be able to run during your lunch break. It’s usually too hot here to run in the middle of the day!

    Way to go on your run!! I hope the pain stays away from your calves! calf pain sucks!!

    did you ever take Cecil on a run on a stroller? I saw a woman pushing a dog on a stroller once… the dog looked like he was Loving it!!

    I have a set of zumba dvds, and when I have tried to work out to them… I end up staring at Beto Perez’s abs and stop working out.

      I haven’t … Cecil isn’t very brave outside of the house. Inside of the house he’s the king of his domain, but outside he is a total scaredy cat. When he was younger I used to take him places with me, but once he reached a certain … weight, I stopped toting him around and now he’s not used to it anymore :/.

    I find good yoga leaves me shaking and sweaty afterward!! It’s one reason I don’t do it more often – it’s frustrating and hard and I’m not flexible!

    I love when a run feels good even if physically it doesn’t feel perfect. It’s just proof that there’s so much more going on there than your body. It’s a mind/spirit/emotion thing!

      OMG yes the glute workout on Monday had my legs shaking for sure. I can’t believe I’m still talking about that glute video and now it’s Thursday. Clearly it made a big impression on me!

    In my humble opinion I agree with you about the blog because I think that you have a healthy life, but I prefer to run before work because you can seize the day. You are a good example for the people and I think that you are able to organise one race with your own name in your country and then you explain to me about your time in the race. I will go to your country for run with you. Lastly, have you ever been in Mallorca ?
