Over the weekend I did A LOT of napping. Too much napping. But I did end up having a ton of energy when I did my 11 mile run on Saturday night.
In fact …. I ran the 11 miles a full 28 MINUTES FASTER than when I first did 11 miles at the end of October last year.
I’m still slow but I am so much faster than I was!
Granted I had a really hard day when I ran 11 last October. I didn’t fuel right and I ended up practically crawling the last two miles home.
On Saturday night I slowed down by about a 45 seconds/mile on the last two miles, but not because I didn’t have the energy or endurance to keep going. My right knee, which had bothered me a little bit a couple weeks ago, starting throbbing pretty badly around mile 9.5.
Yesterday my knee was still bothering me. It doesn’t hurt when I extend it or make contact with the ground, but it does hurt when I bend it. Today it’s feeling better so I’m hoping after another day off of running it will be back to normal.
I’ve had this problem before, so I think after the Princess Half I’ll need to finally suck it up and go see a doctor. I never have any issues at all with my left knee, it’s always the right one.
Right now I’m trying not to worry about it too much. I’m just going to take it day by day and see how the knee feels. If I need to cut back on some of my shorter weekday runs in order to get quality long runs in on the weekend, I can do that. Or if there is some other thing I need to do… I can do that too.
I know that runDisney races aren’t the best to try to go for a PR, but I’m feeling really good about my chances. I just need to get through these final weeks of training without blowing up my knee (or anything else).
I hope that those of you with the day off have something fun planned!
