Yesterday Adam and I had a nice little beach day!
Every year for Memorial Day weekend Fort Lauderdale hosts a beach party, and we’ve gone every year for the last six years. The first year we went was the year before we moved to Fort Lauderdale. Adam said it was that weekend that he decided he wanted to live here!
We walked down to the beach because we knew the parking situation would be pretty bad.
It’s just over 1.5 miles down so the perfect little walk — except it was exceptionally hot out and I was feeling like burnt toast by the time we got there!
Feels like 99*F / 37*C with 74% humidity. No big deal. ? ?
We saw a handful of people out running which really surprised me. They all had that look on their faces, like they were thinking they should have waited until the evening to head out!
When we got to the bridge that connects the city to the beach traffic was backed up, so we were pretty happy with our decision to walk!
We stopped at a restaurant right before the beach to grab something to eat and to cool off! Both of us were total sweaty bettys.
After lunch we walked down the beach looking at all of the cool cars in the old car show!
My favorite one was an old cop car complete with a cat on the hood and a jailbird in the back sitting next to a german shepherd!
What a cute idea — it was definitely a hit with all of the beach goers.
There were also a bunch of little pop-up tents where locals could sell their goods, including a couple that makes honey and even brought their honey bees with them!
After walking around for a while we decided to head home to take Cecil for a walk. I wish we could have brought him to the beach but it was definitely too hot out. I know cats like the heat but I would have worried that he was getting overheated.
We got caught at the drawbridge, which brought back memories of when I used to get caught here all the time during my night time runs!
We finally made it home around 4 o’clock, and decided we would cool down a bit before we took Cecil out.
I promptly sat down on the couch to watch Blue Streak, one of my favorite movies back in the day, and I fell asleep!
We’ll have to take Cecil for a walk today!
How was your Saturday?
