Butt Buster!

My training has been on point this week. I’m on track to log over 30 miles and each run is seriously feeling so good. It’s like I’m right in the middle of an amazing training cycle even though it’s actually coming to an end.

Per my coach, after the race this weekend I’ll be taking two weeks of recovery and then I’ll jump into some spring training that will take me wayyyyy out of my comfort zone. More on that soon!

Yesterday was an off day for me, but I had a surprising amount of energy when I got home from work.

I pulled out my mat and did the Butt Buster workout that’s in the Nike Training app (free).

It’s only 15 minutes long but it works you good!

I find the split jumps really get my heart rate up!unnamed (2)

And the side plank leg lifts definitely bring on the burn! I threw in a regular plank at the end for good measure. Why not, right? unnamed (3)

After that I was glad it was a rest day and I showered and put my pjs on 🙂

Today after work I’ll be heading over to the A1A expo for packet pickup and then it’s on to race weekend!

I’m thinking about signing up last minute for the Fort Lauderdale 5K on Saturday. I have 2 miles plus strides on my training schedule anyway and I think it could be nice to just use it as a fun run….

Speaking of races, if you’re planning to sign up for the PAWS virtual 5K/10K I can tell you that most people are signed up for the 10K! I am not surprised 🙂

Paws Chicago virtual 5k

Today I’ve got to send a big THANK YOU to the following donors who have added their name to the growing list of virtual racers:

  • Margaret from Balancing Meanderings is a triathlete with two adorable kitties. She recently placed first in her age group at a stair climbing race!!!!
  • Karen from Running Over the Hill has six adorable kitties (did I miss any?) and shares my love for sparkly things. Inside joke. 😉
  • Lauren from The Foodie Runner is the best coach I could ask for! She’s helped me PR like crazy during the last 10 months and she has two of the cutest doggies!

Thank you again to everyone who has registered so far! If you’re on the fence about it or have any questions drop me a line at runkristina@gmail.com!

(I promise next week I will talk about this wayyyyy less. I’m just really excited about it right now. I’ve never been a race director before! haha)

Have an awesome weekend!

Next time we talk I’ll be a a 5X half marathoner!

What are you up to this weekend? Any special v-day plans?

    • February 13, 2015 / 3:13 pm

  3. February 13, 2015 / 8:27 am

Good luck at the Half, and at the 5K, if you run it. Hopefully I can catch you at the finish line so we can take a pic! I’m super excited about the race (and about leaving the cold haha). 🙂

    • February 13, 2015 / 3:14 pm

GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY!!!! You only get to run your first half marathon one time, haha!

I think you will find that it’s actually pretty cold here right now, haha. It’s gonna be in the 50s tonight!!! Brrr!

I hope to see you out there on Sunday! I’ll probably be around the Hall of Fame sign around 9am 😉

You make a very good race director!
Have fun this weekend with your race! I am jealous. The snowshoe race for Saturday here was cancelled, because, you guessed it–ANOTHER BLIZZARD, and my next half marathon, the weekend after was also cancelled because of too much snow. We are definitely in the off season here! I REALLY look forward to reading about your race!

  6. February 13, 2015 / 11:33 am

Woo, 30 miles! That’s awesome. Good luck on the race, sounds like you don’t even need it though!

    • February 13, 2015 / 3:16 pm

Thanks Margaret! 🙂 I hope this streak of good running holds through the weekend!

  7. February 13, 2015 / 11:33 am

Have fun this weekend! I’m so excited/envious of everyone who has a race this weekend. I’m planning on doing my virtual race, so that’s kinda the same thing, right?

    • February 13, 2015 / 3:16 pm

Whooo! I think you will be the first one to complete the virtual race! How exciting! Be sure to take pics and send them to me!!!! 🙂

  8. February 13, 2015 / 12:30 pm

Side plank with leg lift… that looks like it might be good to throw into my knee/glute/hip strengthening stuff!

    • February 13, 2015 / 3:17 pm

Yes! It really did make my left hip feel better… it’s been super tight for the last two weeks no matter how much I stretch and stretch!

  9. February 13, 2015 / 3:00 pm

    Hooray for a great week!!!
Good luck with your race(s) this weekend!!
That workout looks awesome – I always forget about checking the Nike app.

    • February 13, 2015 / 3:18 pm

Me too! I had downloaded the app forever ago and forgot about it! I just happened to be looking at a site that was showing an ad for the app and the lightbulb went off that I should finally give it a try!

  10. February 13, 2015 / 4:25 pm

Way to go on 30 miles!! I love the rug in your picture, where did you get it?

    • February 13, 2015 / 4:33 pm

      Thank you!

I actually got it at Target for I think $40! It’s hard to tell what color it is in the pic because of the lighting but it’s white and a really pretty light grey!

  11. February 15, 2015 / 8:11 am

I hope you have a great race!!! You’ve had some cooler weather, maybe it will be a perfect run day!
I do love Sparkly things lol “)
I am glad to hear your runs are feeling great, I hope to say the same soon.

  12. February 16, 2015 / 12:27 pm

I really like the NTC app. I especially like how short the workouts are but they REALLY work! I think I’ll do some today to help stretch out after Sunday’s race!
