Catching Up!

Hey guys, hope you had a great weekend!

Friday morning I called the orthopedic surgeon’s office as soon as they opened to let them know I was ready to schedule the MRI on my calves. They have to get it approved by my insurance company, so I’m waiting to hear back. I hope to hear something today as I’d like to do the MRI this week.

As terrified as I am of having the fasciotomy I also don’t want to put it off any longer than I have to.

I’ve been re-reading some my posts from the last 18 months and I can see that, even if I had not admitted it to myself, something was wrong. There were so many long periods where I seemed to find any excuse not to increase my mileage or to skip runs here and there, whereas in 2013-2014 I was always pretty eager to get in a run.

I’m hopeful that within three months I’ll be back to running happy, even if only for short and easy mileage at first. Fingers crossed.

Friday afternoon my dad came into town for an early Father’s Day celebration. I bought tickets for him, Adam and I to go see Smackdown Live at the BB&T Center. I know a lot of people think it’s weird that I like WWE but I’ve been watching it since I was a kid with my dad. He’s the biggest wrestling fan I know besides maybe Adam!

I surprised him with front row seats. We had such a fun night but I was exhausted by the time the show was over.

Saturday I ended up napping in the afternoon. I would feel bad about this except I get my napping habits from my dad and he actually fell asleep on the couch before I did! 🙂

Sunday my dad went home and I had some work to catch up on. This week is going to be very crazy because I’ll be on-site with a client at a conference they host Monday and Tuesday. I need to be on-site at 7am and the day won’t end until after 7pm.

I powered my weekend work session with my favorite berry smoothie. I’ll never get enough of this!

There may not be a post tomorrow since I didn’t schedule anything in advance and I’m probably going to come home exhausted. I’ll be up at 5am but won’t get home until after 8pm.

While I was grocery shopping on Sunday at Publix I came across these pre-mixed veggie bags. This one has asparagus, mushrooms and onions in it which are three of my favorite vegetables.

This little bag cost almost $4 which is crazy expensive for what it is, BUT I know when I get home from the conference Monday and Tuesday night I’m going to want something I can whip up fast. That could be a frozen pizza OR it could be some veggies and chicken I can make quickly without having to do any chopping.

I’m hoping by having these little bags of veggies I’ll do the right thing :). Let’s be honest though, if I end up going for the pizza it’s not going to surprise anyone!

What do you keep on hand to make to eat for crazy busy days?
Best part of your weekend?
Are you a weekend napper?

I’m gearing up for a busy week too, and I know blogging probably won’t happen. I hope you can schedule your MRI soon!

Good luck w/ your busy week. One day at a time, girl! I always have frozen veggies and I meal prep on Sunday so our fridge is full of food (yesterday I made a huge bowl of pasta salad — inspired my Megan – grilled pork chops, lots of fresh fruit and some banana bread). We can usually assemble a dinner in like 10 mins which is key when you are tired and hungry! I hope you get that MRI. Time to figure out next steps and plan your come back 🙂 Hugs xo

Thanks Susan! I am awful about meal prepping. I honestly am not a big fan of leftovers and meal prepped meals feel like leftovers. I stopped using the microwave to heat up food a couple of months ago and haven’t looked back! Now if I want to reheat something I have to pop it on the stove (or in the oven/toaster oven) which sort of feels like cooking from scratch so I might as well cook from scratch haha!

I hope I get the call about the MRI tomorrow! They said it would be today but at 5pm they called and said they hadn’t gotten approval yet.

I love those bags of precut mixed veggies. I was thinking of ordering some hello fresh boxes because this week is super busy for me! I’m writing your post tonight (it’s in my planner, lol)!

Oh wow, I went away for the weekend and all of this stuff is happening over here! Just caught up on my reading. I share your feelings about the surgery- but I’d want it done too if it took care of the problem. I really hope it fixes you up!! Sounds like you are in good hands with your Dr.
Also hope you get to relax sometime with that busy schedule this week. Those are long days!!

I absolutely LOVED wrestling growing up and have been to quite a few live ones. But, I stopped watching after The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin era…I can’t connect with the new stuff 🙁

I hope the MRI helps you figure out the calf pain!

I hope you and your dad enjoyed the wrestling! do they have any good snacks are wrestling?

No napping for me, unless my body is dead tired from a long run, but I prefer to not nap.

I wish you lots of energy for your long days coming up! Paul and I usually make a bunch of food at a time so we can eat it throughout the week. So dinner is usually heating something up we already had pre-made. Like on Thursday, I made a huge thing of pasta salad. We can eat that all week. We always have chicken made in the fridge so we can cut that up and put it in too!
