Catching Up!

Hey there! Hope you’re off to a good Monday. I had a great weekend! I got to catch up with my mom, watch the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight with Adam and celebrate Cecil’s 10th birthday!

Of course as I was trying to wrap his gifts, Cecil was all over them. He’s very impatient! But I was able to wrangle them away from him and I hid them in a kitchen cabinet.

On Sunday we finally let Cecil tear into the wrapping paper and get his gifts. He loooooved his new catnip toys, of course! The Big Ol Catnip Sack was a giant hit, and of course he demanded to taste test all the new treats too.

After Cecil tore into his gifts, Adam and I went out for a celebratory Chipotle πŸ™‚ and then I headed down to the beach for my a good, long walk. My surgery is tomorrow morning, which I am simultaneously anxious and excited for. I’m not sure how long it’s going to be before I can get in a long walk or a run, so I figured I better head out for a good one!

It rained the entire time I was out there but that didn’t really phase me. It’s just so nice every time I’m down by the beach taking in the fresh air! I saw a bunch of people out there running and I felt super motivated. I’m sure they’re in training for fall races and I can’t wait to train for a race again too!

I saw these two gentlemen, probably in their 50s, enjoying some good conversation while simultaneously running at a pretty good clip. They looked great!

A middle aged couple walking near me, one smoking a cigarette, started to make fun of the guys once they had run past us. I was like REALLY? It made me wonder how many people have laughed at me behind my back while I’m out there running, and then I decided I don’t care! I just can’t understand why you would ever make fun of someone exercising.

I’m absolutely sure those two awesome runners wouldn’t give a second thought to the couple so I’ll try not to either!

Okay so now let’s talk about something really important: the new Taylor Swift single, Look What You Made Me Do. What are your thoughts? I’m a total Swiftie and have been since a friend of mine, who likes country music, introduced me to Teardrops on My Guitar back in 2006.

I can probably list the number of Taylor songs IΒ don’t like on one hand, but this new single is going on that list.

I’ve read a bunch of takes on the song from critics who say everything from: this is the case of a white woman placing blame on a black man (Kanye) for something she did wrong (lie about Famous lyrics)?, to critics wondering why she’s writing songs about celebrity grudges when she should be taking a political stance with her music since she has such a big platform.

I don’t think my dislike of the song really runs that deep. It’s just kind of a bad song (that’s still a little bit catchy). Let’s just say it’s no Wildest Dreams or Style, her two best songs IMO! Β I’m excited to hear the rest of the album though, I’m sure there will be plenty of awesome bops on it even if it’s not better than the 1989 album, one of my favorite albums of all time!

Happy Monday!

β™« Cause you got that James Dean daydream look in your eye, and I got that red lip, classic thing that you like … β™«Β

The song just came out on Thursday so it’s still really new! Adam and I watched the VMAs last night which is when the music video debuted, which is a total hot mess in my opinion. Then again I may be out of touch. Every time the cameras panned to someone in the audience I was like “who’s that?” πŸ˜€

I don’t know very many Taylor Swift songs! I am going to listen to your two favs today and the new one to see if I like them. Do you think Look What You Made Me Do has anything to do with her sexual assault trial? I didn’t read the lyrics, so I have no idea. I don’t know, I don’t think we need to be mad that Taylor is writing about “silly” things in her songs. I mean, we all need time for fluff in our lives, right? You are going to rock your surg!!! But I will talk to you before then.

No, I don’t think the song has anything to do with the trial. I think it’s all about her celebrity feuds, which like you said is totally fine! Celebrities are generally low on my list of people I look to for political guidance, so I’m fine with her just being entertaining. I think my biggest problem with the song is that she does very little actual singing in it. The song would fit well on Britney’s Blackout album, which is a good album, but Britney is not really known for being a strong vocalist. I think Taylor is a pretty good singer so I guess I wish she SANG more on the song!

Another good song from Taylor to listen to is the song Red! I could (and have) listened to it on repeat!

Taylor Swift song reminds me of a Lorde song, the way the music and her voice are synched… maybe I’m listening too much into it. I don’t follow the celebrity feuds, and I’m so tired of seeing headlines about her and Katy Perry, like what could they possibly have to fight about? I know there are legit reasons they are fighting, I’m just refusing to acknowledge them.

sending healing thoughts your way for your surgery!

I know what you mean! I honestly don’t think the legit reason they are fighting is even legit. I mean it’s over a backup dancer. I’m sure there are a million great backup dancers out there who would love to work with either of them – spread the love!

I’m a late to the party Swiftie. Country music isn’t really my thing, but from Red forward I’ve been a fan. I’m not sure on this new single. It can be super catchy, but the dialog part makes me cringe. So bad. Hopefully the rest of the album will be good. I know I didn’t really care for the first single from Lorde’s new album at first and now I LOVE the entire album so hopefully something like that will happen. I did like that the end of the video pokes fun at her O-M-G-So-Surprised!!!1! face. At least she can laugh at herself.

Best wishes for a successful surgery tomorrow. I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts πŸ™‚

YESSSSS I loved the ending of the video too. The “omg people like me, i’m shocked even though i have over 100 million instagram followers and multi-platinum albums” KILLS me. I’m so glad she poked fun at that!

I will say, if I was a bit younger I would probably make my voicemail “”I’m sorry, the old Kristina can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh! ‘Cause she’s dead!” IDK if my professional contacts would be amused by that though! πŸ˜€

I hope your surgery goes well tomorrow!!

I don’t like the new T Swift song. I appreciate her as an artist but it’s just a really bad song. I also think she should use her talent for good instead of making passive aggressive songs about everything. Making a song about someone when they make you mad seems a little immature.

Interesting that those people made comments about those guys running. I do now wonder what people would say about me after I passed!! yikes.
Good luck with everything tomorrow and the rest of your week. Take it easy!!
