What a week. You remember when I tripped and fell during my run on Tuesday? My knees didn’t get scraped up too badly because my left side got the brunt of the fall.
My left elbow is badly scraped, my left hand has a bruise AND now I think I sprained my shoulder (which must have been the first thing to hit). At the time I thought my shoulder was just sore from falling, but it still hurts so badly.
I can’t lift my arm up very far without being in a lot of pain. Washing my hair is honestly a nightmare. Taking ibuprofen helps some but mostly it feels best when I am sitting perfectly still. If I’m not feeling any better by Saturday I am going to have to make an appointment with my doctor. I am avoiding it at the moment because everything I’ve read online has basically said with a grade one sprain the doctor will just tell you to take ibuprofen and rest until it feels better (which should be in 2-7ish days).
Since I’m currently winning the couch potato race, I thought today I could share some non-running updates!
1. The Yummly App is Awesome!
My new nutritionist recommended I download the Yummly app on my phone — and it’s so awesome. When you sign up you tell the app what kinds of foods you like, what foods you won’t eat, what food allergies you have, etc. and then it pulls up recommended recipes for you. I’m still playing around with the personalization (there’s a lot) but so far I think it’s so cool.
Once you find a recipe you like you can bookmark it and also create a grocery list of the ingredients. Then, if you have an Instacart membership (which I do), you can send the grocery list to your personal shopper via Instacart to be delivered to your home! If you don’t have Instacart then you have a handy grocery list for the next time you head to the store!
2. New “Stay Brave” Bracelet!
I’ve been eyeing up jewelry from Mejuri for a couple of months now and finally ordered myself a bracelet. Since my motto for this year is “I am not afraid” I got the bracelet that says Stay Brave on it.
I love the bracelet so much. It is pretty affordable and came in such a cute, personalized package. I think it’s the perfect size for layering with other bracelets (which I love doing) or to wear all on its own! You can take $20 off your first order with Mejuri if you use my referral link! 🙂
If you decide to order something from them let me know what you get. Since I like the quality of this bracelet so much I am thinking about placing another order for some other things. I’ve got my eye on a couple of their rings!
3. I Found the Best Chapstick
I’m normally a Burt’s Bees kind of girl, but I recently decided to try the Yes to Coconuts chapstick and it’s amazing. If you like the smell and taste of coconut you’re going to love this one!
I think it was like $2.99 at Target!
4. T-R-A-F-F-I-C S-T-I-N-K-S!
Since I changed my working hours to 7 to 4 I haven’t had to sit in very much traffic, but yesterday there were a couple of accidents and it took me almost two hours to get to work.
I always feel bad when I complain about the traffic build up from accidents because I know people’s lives can be turned upside down after a tragic accident. That being said it is so frustrating to sit in barely moving traffic for two hours. Especially when the accident has been cleared but we’re barely moving because of “onlooker delays.” Even more especially because traffic is already a nightmare heading into midtown and downtown Miami just due to the sheer number of people who commute in.
Do you ever have to deal with traffic like this going to or from work? It really can put you in a bad mood for a long time. I’m trying to get better about letting stuff like this just roll off my back.
5. Cecil is a Good Watch Cat
Last night Adam went outside in our little back patio area to do some cardio (jump rope, shadow boxing, etc) and Cecil sat at the door and watched him the whole time.
He’s such a sweet little boy!
What’s your favorite chapstick? (I used to looove Carmex because it’s tingly lol)
Do you use a recipe app? Where do you find new recipes?
