Catching Up (a Non-Video Post)!

Hey there! I hope you had a great weekend. My camera battery seems to have died this weekend, so I have a new non-vlog post for you today.

My weekend started out with breakfast with my mom and then an 11:15am nail appointment. It’s taken me a lot of trial and error to find a great manicurist but I love the woman who does my nails now. Going to get my nails done at 11am on a Saturday morning isn’t ideal but her schedule fills up fast.

I was going to go with the color DND Snow Bunny again, but Vivian convinced me to try OPI Lisbon Wants Moor and I LOVE IT!

It’s part of OPI’s spring collection, and you’ll probably be seeing me wear it all of this spring!

I also spent time in my garden this weekend. I finally mulched (but forgot to take a pic, ahh) and the whole area looks 10 times better now. Now that I’ve gotten the hang of taking care of my flowers I love it; it’s so relaxing and almost meditative.

I’ve got some new garden ornaments and decor arriving this week. I can’t wait to spruce up the patio area even more. We are having some people over for Easter this coming Sunday, and if the weather is nice enough I’d love for all of us to be able to sit outside.

Especially because our outdoor table seats six while our indoor table only seats four!

Aside from spending time in the garden I also spruced up the bedroom a bit. If you watched my Decorating the Master Bedroom vlog last week then you know I’ve been on the hunt for pretty decorative pillows for the bed.

I found some nice pink ones at HomeGoods on Saturday that I really like. I still want to get another rectangular grey one for in front of the pink pillows but haven’t found one that I really like yet. If you see one online please link me to it!

I also need to find a nice grey throw blanket that’s large enough for a king bed. I put this one on from the couch just to see if I would like the look of a grey blanket at the foot of the bed and I do!

I’m also thinking of buying a bench for in front of the bed. I’m thinking about this one but I don’t know if the height will be tall enough as our bed is pretty high up. It’s hard to shop for this kind of thing online isn’t it?

Cecil’s loving all of the new updates to the bed. Give him a soft place to sleep and he’ll be your best friend.

I also got in a good lifting session on Sunday with Adam. We primarily did squats. This was my second squat day using the Wendler 5-3-1 programย and I worked up to 3 reps @ 170lbs.

My sets were:

10 x bodyweight
10 x 45lbs (the bar)
5 x 75lbs
5 x 95lbs
3 x 115lbs
3 x 130lbs
3 x 150lbs
3 x 170lbs

You can see the video of me doing my final set on Instagram if you want to!

I’m really enjoying following the Wendler 5-3-1 plan. Going for a new max every weekend was starting to get stressful as the weights got higher. I guess it would be like trying to go for a new 1-mile PR every weekend.

Now that I’m on the 5-3-1 plan I’m making the kind of progress that I guess I would be in the middle of a running plan. Hopefully in a few weeks when I do go for a new PR in my lifts I’ll see success.

Until then I’ll just keep at it!

How was your weekend?
Anyone race?

My little Jelly loves a soft blanket too. He has a furry brown Jennifer Lopez blanket that he took over. Perhaps look for a blanket at Ross or Marshalls or somewhere like that? I bet you could find a good deal! We go to my mom’s for Easter- whole extended family. When Easter is later in the year, it is usually warm enough for us to gather outside as well as inside. But this year I know it’s going to be cold so we’re going to be stuck inside!
