Celebrating a Year of Run-Blogging + The Best Runner Ever!

Today I am celebrating because one year ago I decided to start this running blog!

Thank you to everyone who comes by to read my posts, tweets to me and sends me emails/messages on FB!!ย The best part of blogging has definitely been finding a community of people I identify with so strongly.

When I started writing I really just wanted a way to stay accountable to myself, but it’s ended up becoming much more than just a place to log my miles.

I’ve made real life friends, like Jodi who I met and hung out with before the Princess Half last month (she’s super nice and awesome!).

I’ve also made awesome online friends like Aliย  and Amy!

Through blogging I even got to know one of my ultra running idols: Ann Trason. If you don’t know who Ann is, she is a 14-time winner of the Western States 100 and breaker of 20 world running records including the 100 MILE distance which she ran in 13 hours and 47 minutes (8:16 pace)!!!! In my opinion she’s the best female runner ever… make thatย the best runner ever.

I know everyone has different criteria for what makes someone the “best runner” and Ann just fits that bill for me in every way.

Ann is incredibly humble. Every time I’ve spoken with her she has asked about how MY running is going and would rather talk about me than her. It kind of blows my mind. It’s also kind of embarrassing since she can run 50-miles in 5 hours 40 mins (6:48 pace) and I will be hoping and praying to finish 26.2 around that time.

She no longer runs competitively, but if you’re looking for a female runner to inspire you that isn’t named Kara or Shalane, read about Ann’s career! She kicks so much ass.

Blogging has helped me meet awesome people, has held me accountable to my training and has offered a great creative outlet. It’s definitely one of the better decisions I made in 2013 : )

If you have a blog, what made you want to start blogging?

Who do you give the highest honor of “Best Runner EVER” to?

Awe, thank you so much! The best part about blogging really is the social aspect of it! That is amazing you’ve gotten to know Ann. She sounds fabulous!

Yes I blog, I started as a way to keep track of the journey I was going through and hopefully share some of the victories and losses I have along the way. As you said, it has turned into much more than that! Best runner ever is hard for me. I am breaking it into to segments:

    Biggest Inspiration – My fiance
Best Runner – Steve Prefontaine – like you said, criteria is different, and he first that bill for me.

Pre is definitely up there on my list as well. Ann is at the very top of my list, followed by Scott Jurek, Pre, Frank Zapotek and a few others. It’s so hard to pick just one! And then when you change the criteria from “best” to “favorite” it becomes even harder!

Congratulations on 1 year! I just liked you on FB. I don’t know why I haven’t done it already. Don’t worry, I won’t unfriend you. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy blogiversary!!!! What a big deal!!!

You and your blog have come so far. I love that blogging really DOES keep us accountable, and because we’re immersed in other running blogs we love, we can’t just disappear and stop running/blogging/etc. I love your blog; it makes me so happy, and I’m sooo glad I found you!!

Thank you!! ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s a time commitment but it’s also so fun. Plus, it will be so fun to look back on old posts some day and reminisce (which I love to do)!

Congrats on a year of blogging!!
I haven’t heard of Ann but I need to go stalk her. I’m training for a 50 and I’m sure I could learn a lot!!!

Love your blog! Yay for one year – congratulations! And thank you again for your caring email – my blog will be up and running again soon (like me, as soon as I kick this cold, haha), promise. I second the starting a blog thing to be held accountable, but for some reason have gone off the radar, oops. YOU are inspiring me to get back into it! Thanks for writing your blog Kristina! xxx

Aww thank you Lou! I can’t wait until you’re blogging again! If I don’t see a post soon I will start emailing you every single day and then copying your responses into the blog for you as a post ๐Ÿ˜€

Haha, LOVE this threat! Oops – I know I promised this week right, think my words might have even been something along the lines of starting training the very next day, 5:30 sharp. We-ell, hasn’t happened yet. Got a stinking cold that I can’t seem to kick. So (ever the procrastinator), you can expect to see me write in the blog again starting MONDAY! (and hopefully with some actual running to talk about too). Cheers Kristina xxx

Oh no, hope you feel better soon!! Having a cold is a very good excuse for just resting up!
