I hope you had a great weekend!

I had a fun Saturday. I had lunch with my mom, got in a solid 60 minute run on the treadmill, lifted upper body and then went to see Suicide Squad at the dine-in theater with Adam! The movie has gotten pretty bad reviews but I thought it was entertaining!

Movie theater lighting is terrible. Don’t they know everyone wants to take selfies before the movie?

^ It looks like I’m missing half an eyebrow there but it’s just the lighting. The pic scared me for a minute because one time I did wake up with an entire eyebrow missing! I have NO idea what happened but it eventually grew back all on its own. I never found a pile of eyebrow hairs in my bed or anything so your guess is as good as mine as to where that eyebrow went.

I probably have alopecia. I’ve noticed that I seem to have a small bald patch on the top of my head. It’s mostly covered by other hair since I don’t do a 50/50 split but it’s there and I’ve been trying to ignore it for a while now. I just don’t need another autoimmune disorder in my life! (I’ll get it checked the next time I go to the doctor, sigh.)

Sunday I had a blazing headache almost all day. I cut my long run down to only 10 miles because my head was pounding.

This is my “I have a headache plus I need to do laundry so I don’t really give an F” outfit. I hope you like it.

Chicago Marathon Training Week #11 Recap

Monday: Total rest day.

Tuesday: .5 w/up, 4 x 1mi @ 13:27, 13:32, 13:21, 13:37, .5 c/d

Wednesday: 5 miles easy @ 14:47

Thursday: .5 w/up, 4 miles tempo @ 13:46, .5 cool down

Friday: 2 miles easy @ 14:34 (was supposed to be 4 miles, oops)

Saturday: 4 miles easy @ 15:00 on treadmill + upper body lifting

Sunday: 10 miles easy @ 15:00 on treadmill

Total: 30 miles

I’m short quite a few miles this week because I cut my warm ups and cool downs to only .5 each. I also cut Wednesday’s run short by a mile, Friday’s run short by two miles, Saturday’s run short by a mile and Sunday’s run short by five miles.

All in all I shaved off about 10 miles from last week.

I’m blaming it on my birthday. There were honestly so many nights last week that I didn’t want to run at all! I’m guessing that’s probably how I’m going to feel the rest of this training cycle. My legs are pretty tired.

Rest day each Monday definitely helps me recharge my batteries but by Sunday each week my legs feel dead.

I’m supposed to be running my long runs at around 14:12 pace and obviously I am not doing that! I’ve been wondering if I need to readjust my goal for Chicago, but I’m not quite ready to yet. We’ll see how the rest of August goes first. I’m still optimistic!

    I think it’s hard to stick to training when you have a big event like your birthday going on. My weekend was great. We went to the lake to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Hope you have a good week!

    What until the bulk of summer heat passes! My pace slows by about a minute / minute and a half each summer. Then in September, like magic I’m able to run paces I hadn’t seen since April. I’m currently in the basebuilding phase of hansons and am anxious about how the rest of training will feel (and how in the world I’ll fit it in!)

      Ahh I can’t wait until fall/winter! Unfortunately for me that cooler weather won’t arrive until like February, but I’m definitely looking forward to it – and I hope it’s cold in Chicago!

      I can’t lie, it’s definitely a challenge fitting all the mileage in. During the week it’s not so bad but those back-to-back runs on the weekend are a killer since you have to plan your whole day around fitting them in (esp. if you don’t get up early… which happens to me a lot! haha)

    Great job on your training! Hopefully Chicago is nice and cool this year. It’s really a crapshoot in October what it will be like. My paces have been very off in Kansas, but when I went out to Colorado, where it’s much cooler and drier, I was hitting them no problem. I’m hoping for some low humidity and cool, overcast temps on October 9! I bet you’ll be amazed at how fast you are in better weather. 🙂

      I am hoping for the same! Anything in the 60s would be great! The 50s are kind of cold for me, but on a marathon day I would take the 50s too! Anything lower than that and I’ll be freezing, haha!

    Getting most of the miles is better than none of the miles! Good job on your week! I actually ran on the treadmill this week because it was too dark outside in the AM when I got up. And, Bachelor in Paradise was on my DVR so it was a nice excuse to stay inside!!

    I can’t believe you’re even close to your pace/mileage with that Florida heat right now! I am struggling to hit paces and it’s much cooler here than there (although still hot and humid). I’m also impressed that you run 6 days a week! My weekend was pretty good, mostly just involved running and watching the Olympics. 🙂

      Oh ME TOO on the olympics watching! Those guys on the high bars … DAMN! AMAZING! The upper body and core strength they must have is just mind blowing!!!

      YES A WHOLE EYEBROW WAS MISSING! The funny thing is I didn’t realize it at all until I was out to dinner with a friend and she started looking at my funny across the table. When I got home I didn’t say anything to Adam but he was like “where’s your eyebrow?!”

      I went to the salon to get my hair cut a couple weeks later and the girl who did my hair said I should put biotin oil on the eyebrow to make it grow in faster — and I think that helped alot because it came back pretty quickly after that!

    I wouldn’t t worry even if you have to keep adjusting for heat. If you get a great (weather) race day you will have the endurance you need to go 🙂
    I saw Bad Moms at the dining place. The one near my house is affordable but has really bad service. The nicer one is way pricier, so I took the bad service still laughed at the movie though!
    Booo for a headache 🙁 It isn’t fun to run like that, you did good, to get that long of a run done.

      Thanks Karen!!! I think we’re really luck that the dine in theater here is pretty reasonable. Tickets and food are pretty reasonably priced. The drinks however…. $4 for an unsweet iced tea! That’s where they really make their money!!!

    It’s funny how cutting warmups and cool downs just a touch really adds up! But do those half miles at such an easy pace really matter all that much? I feel like if you let yourself warm up and recover, it’s all good, right?!

    A friend of mine once asked us if we dared her to shave off her eyebrow. We said “no” but she did it anyway; it grew back all weird and curly! What did you do while you were missing an eyebrow?! I feel like I get bald spots in my eyebrows so I always have to fill them in. It’s very stressful haha.

      Ahhaha a curly eyebrow, that’s so funny!

      I totally just rocked one eyebrow! I’m not good at drawing in eyebrows AT ALL. I have no idea how to make anything drawn in look natural so I just owned the one eyebrow look! 😀
