Hey there! If you follow me on Instagram then you know the really good news: I got power back at my house on Thursday! I cannot tell you how good it felt to go home. I missed all the little things like sleeping in my bed, watching TV on the couch, Cecil having free roam of the house, etc.
The poor little thing hated being confined to the Florida room, and he even ended up having an asthma attack one night for the first time in forever. He’s happy to be back in his kingdom!
Since I haven’t had the chance to blog much recently I thought I could do one of Megan’s “Currently” style posts.
I’ve actually been doing a lot of reading lately, and you might say it’s been an eclectic mix.
The week after my surgery I raced through both of Shane Dawson’s books; he’s a YouTuber I occasionally watch who has a self-deprecating sense of humor. He had a tough childhood, suffered from bulimia in his early 20s and has since become a millionaire on YouTube. I find his life fascinating and he seems really down to earth for the success he’s had over the last few years.
I’ve also just started Hillary’s latest book.
Well, you know I’m a Taylor Swift fan, and while I didn’t initially love Look What You Made Me Do it’s definitely been growing on me. I’m also a fan of Charlie Puth and really like his song Attention. I know when I’m finally back to running one of these days I’m going to add it to my running playlist!
Current TV Show
MINDY IS BACK. The final season just started last week, and it killed me that I wasn’t able to watch it on Tuesday when it first came out due to our power situation. You better believe my exciting Friday night included the couch, my laptop and Mindy.
I’ll be honest it wasn’t my favorite episode but I’m trying to not take any episodes for granted since the show is almost over. I just sort of miss the good old days of Season 1 and 2 when every episode was lighthearted.
I don’t need the stress of Mindy’s failing marriage looming over me; just bring Danny back! And make him apologize for trying to dull Mindy’s shine so that we can move on to happier times!
This is an easy one: my legs. I’m pretty much over this surgery thing now. I went through a few days last week where my legs hurt worse than ever before. A couple of places bruised up, the were swelling every day after work and I was just generally feeling a low level of pain 24/7.
Very luckily the worst seems to be over now. The bruises have gone away, the swelling is down and I’m able to make it through the day without even taking Tylenol.
My physical therapist let me jump on the stationary bike for a few minutes during our last visit AND I got to do 30 squats! It felt so good to do a little exercise after not doing anything for so long. I also can walk around for quite a while now – I know this because on Saturday I spent about two hours shopping with no issue. I was a little sore afterwards but it wasn’t terrible.
I’m looking forward to incorporating long walks back into my exercise routine asap – maybe this week. I can definitely feel that I’m not ready to run yet but that day is inching closer. By the 8 week mark I feel certain that I’ll be running (very short, very easy) runs again. I’m just about to the 3 week mark now so it’s a while away, but I’m getting there.
