Day in the Life + 15 Day Burpee Challenge

Hey there! Today I’ve got a new vlog to share. This is a Day in the Life I shot yesterday!

I know Tuesdays are supposed to be my weekly training recap day but I had another super low mileage week last week. March has been possibly my worst running month ever. I am committed to ending the month with a bang and have made myself a promise that I won’t miss any of my planned runs this week!

I kicked off the week on a high note yesterday with a good strength training workout, a Jasyoga video and 30 burpees.

My best friend, Barbs,Β shared this article with me of a woman called Danielle who did 30 burpees every day for 15 days and saw awesome results.

DanielleΒ writes, “my typical easy pace is about nine minutes per mile, but towards the end of the 15 days I started running faster without consciously ramping up my speed. My lungs felt clear and I coasted through the miles.”

Barbs and I are taking on the challenge!

Dr. Jordan D. Metzl says, “Burpees target every muscle in your body and train your cardiopulmonary fitness by repeatedly bring your heart rate up and down.”

Danielle wrote, “Because my muscles and heart were getting an added workout, running felt like a breeze.”

I’m ready for results like that :).

    Good for you for trying that burpee challenge! When I was following BBG I was doing burpees a few days a week. They never got any easier! Im not sure if my running got better because I wasnt really paying attention at the time. Ill be interested to see how it goes for you!

      Ahhh I think I’m going to have to restart on April 1st! Now with this stupid bronchitis if I try to do even one burpee it sends me into a coughing fit! :/

    I need to try that burpee challenge. I think I’ll start April 1. My legs are seriously trashed from my half marathon and the thought of doing anything resembling a squat makes me want to cry.

      Awesome! I’ll be restarting on April 1st. Now that I have bronchitis I can’t do any burpees. Barbs has kept going through as she didn’t want to waste the couple of days she already did, haha! πŸ˜€

    I did a strength workout with some burpees the other day and it was sooooo hard. Not just the burpees but all of it! You can run all the miles all day long, but it only takes one easy-SOUNDING strength workout to show you how out of shape you really are!

    Nothing against Danielle because I’m sure she didn’t choose this title, but if RW posts one more super clickbait-y “and here’s what happened” article I’m going to scream.

      Hahahha I know what you mean about click-bait titles. They annoy me too!

      YESSS that first (and only day so far) that I did 30 burpees I was totally trashed after. My heart rate was much higher than it ever is on a long run!

    That’s so funny about the burpees – I saw that article too and was totally sold on the idea!! I’m looking forward to hearing how you do with it. I pictured me doing a bunch of burpees, and that’s as far as I got!! πŸ˜‰ I’m busy enough with all of the PT exercises anyways.

      YES you are maxed out with those PT exercises. I am impressed by your commitment to doing an HOUR of PT a day!

    I’m currently doing a plank challenge. I read that article a few days ago and it did spike some interest in me. It will be interesting to see your results and if you feel the same way when you are done!!

    We have been working burpees into our circuits lately. I do love that they are a full-body exercise. I have no idea if they’ll help me get back to running sooner rather than later, but I know they’ll make me strong!
