Day in the Life: Miami Edition

Hey there! So, I have to tell you, Sunday night I got TERRIBLE sleep. I don’t know why but I didn’t fall asleep until after 4am and my alarm went off at 5:05am. That was painful. I knew as soon as I woke up that I wouldn’t have the energy to edit a vlog last night, so instead I took some pics for a Day in the Life style written post, I hope that’s okay!

While I was getting ready first thing in the morning I popped on Amelia Liana’s latest vlog. It was of her and Estée Lalonde getting ready/doing their makeup. I love listening to other people talk about makeup while I put on my makeup, especially my two favorite beauty vloggers! 😀

At around 6:35 I left the house to head down to Miami to work for the day. First I had to stop and get gas though.

Isn’t that the worst when you have to stop and get gas on a Monday morning? I always think I should treat myself and do it over the weekend, but unfortunately I am lazy and will always put it off until the last minute.

Once my car was fueled up, I needed to fuel up my brain too because it was running on fumes after such little sleep. I stopped at Einstein’s to get a cup of Vanilla Hazelnut coffee. This coffee is very addicting. I’ll go months without having it, but once I take a sip I am back there buying it every single day.

The addiction pretty much always comes back at the end of the year when I am worn out and want to treat myself to some good coffee :). With my cup of joe in hand it was time to make the trek down to Miami.

Don’t worry I took that picture while sitting at a red stop light. I am not crazy enough to try and frame up a still picture while driving!

During my car ride down I listened to the latest Shane Dawson podcast. He’s another vlogger I watch. If you don’t watch his videos you won’t like his podcast, but if you do watch his videos you will probably like it. I’m not going to recommend his videos to you because 75% of them I don’t really love, but there are some golden ones I do really like.

He’s a comedian, but the target audience for most of his videos is probably younger than most of us; however, I like his personality, his ambition and his background so I listen to the podcast.

It only took me about 45 minutes to get to Miami yesterday. The commute down always gets better the last couple weeks of the year because a lot of people here take the last two weeks off of work. That makes the interstate a lot more bearable!

As you can see my desk is full of all the important things.

Colorful highlighters, lip gloss, lip stick, chapstick, coffee, perfume, oil blotting sheets and a mac. That’s Work Mode Kristina summed up in a nutshell. Oh, and there on the left side is my trusty old calculator. Honestly you should not trust a marketer who does not keep a calculator nearby.

When noon came around I took myself out to lunch. I needed to because I had to give my tired brain a little rest.

I was actually pretty surprised by how well I was holding up (thanks to two coffees). I was also pretty surprised at how fast we went from 65 degrees to 85 degrees. Man, I miss the cold weather so much!

I went to My Ceviche for lunch, one of my favorite places. I always describe it as “Chipotle but healthier” because they offer way more vegetables.

When I’m at Chipotle I never get rice because I think their rice is super salty, but I LOOOOOOVE the rice at My Ceviche. It’s like coconut rice or something? So good! If you have one near you please go try it.

After lunch it was just work-work-work until it was time to finally go home :).

I decided to resurrect my old Spotify account. I’ve been using Google Play for a couple of years now for a few reasons. First, because Taylor Swift took herself off of Spotify for a while and Google Play was the only way to stream her songs at the time. Second because I like being able to watch YouTube videos ad free and that’s a perk of Google Play.

However, I knew I was going to buy Adam a premium Spotify account for Christmas. He hasn’t used a streaming service in a while, but I used to buy him Spotify Premium every year for Christmas. I found out they now have Family Plans so I signed us up for one of those so I could access my old account too.

Man, what nostalgia! I found all of my old playlists, which were mostly running related. Seeing my Miami Half Playlist I was instantly transported back to running this race and earning my PR.

Inside my account was also my Portland Marathon playlist and that brought me right back to Oregon and crossing the finish line at my first marathon. I LOVE seeing and listening to all of my old playlists, it’s so inspiring!

I forgot that I listened to a lot of Drake while running back in the day – and I can’t wait to bring that back. I need to build a Drake only playlist for my return to running in January!

Headlines, Started From the Bottom, Pop Style, One Dance, Hotline Bling, Right Hand… such good running and workout songs! Especially Right Hand, that’s my favorite. Please add it to your next playlist!

After work I headed home and did what I always do when I walk in the door: give Cecil his dental treats for being a good boy all day while I’m gone.

This isn’t his finest picture but he said he doesn’t mind me sharing it. He loves his Greenies (chicken flavor, he won’t eat any of the others). He’s a very selective eater when it comes to cat products, but will eat any people food he can get his little paws on.

After a long day in Miami it felt so good to come home to Cecil and Adam. We all got on the couch and flipped back and forth between Monday Night Football and Monday Night RAW per usual and then it was time for bed.

I hope that you had a good Monday and are excited about the holidays. I’m looking forward to the next few days. Normally my personal life is pretty low-key but I have so many things going on over the next week – exciting! Looking forward to sharing it with you.

Have a great day!

What’s your favorite place to go to for lunch?
Do you make playlists for specific races too?
What’s your current favorite (non-holiday) song?

That stinks that you only got an hour sleep. That is the worst. Treating yourself to a good coffee was a good idea! I would feel so much nostalgia if I found all the mp3s I used to listen to in college. I can remember some of the songs I would listen to but not all. I used to download stuff from Napster! Then it was Limewire… Back then there were not legitimate ways to listen to music other than buying the CDs.

Oh man I can’t even imagine finding my mp3 player from college!

I remember Napster and Limewire! Ah the good old days when it would take like 3 hours to download one song LOL!

I don’t know what I’ll do when my iPod shuffle dies. I don’t know of any other way of listen to music when I run! I’ll have to learn all about streaming music. I’d have to pay for it, wouldn’t I?? I do run with my phone, but it’s usually zipped up in a pocket and I love flipping through my songs all of the time.
Your desk looks a lot like mine – I have to have a rainbow of markers available to me at all times! (and lip balm & hand lotion)

You don’t HAVE to pay for it. You can use Spotify for free, you just have to listen to ads every once in a while. But it’s only $15 per month for a Spotify family plan, which means up to 5 people who live in the same house can all sign up for their own Spotify accounts and all you pay is $15/month for all of them. It would be perfect for your family!

YES I’m glad you keep all of the important essentials on your desk too :). I have hand lotion there too it’s just out of sight!

That meal looks so delicious! I feel everybody should offer more veggie options all the time.

We have an apple music family plan, and we are all spoiled by all the music now.

    have a wonderful holiday!
