Doctor’s Orders, No Running

Hey there! I forgot to tell you the other day, but I finally saw my doctor on Friday and he said the incision that popped open is now healing really well. It looks like I had picked up an infection when I was in Atlanta and the antibiotics have cleared it all up.

He wrapped my leg up in an ace bandage before I left which I thought was a little excessive so when I got home I put it on Cecil as a post-Halloween mummy costume. SO ADORABLE.

I should be good to go in a few days and then I can resume running. The doctor said while the wound is healing he doesn’t want me to run because the swelling could make it open up again. That means I didn’t get in any runs over the weekend, and I am absolutely itching to get back to it. Hopefully by this coming weekend I’ll be back to running.

For now I’m on doctor’s orders not to run.

One thing I LOVE to do each year is to wake up early on Thanksgiving morning and go for a quiet run at the beach during sunrise (before the annual Turkey Trot begins). I am very hopeful that I’ll be able to do that again this year.

I’m also getting excited for the Jingle Bell Jog 5K on December 17th. Since I was able to run three miles a couple of weeks ago I feel certain that I’ll be able to do this race next month. Of course I won’t exactly be racing it since I can barely run three miles at an easy pace, but it will just be fun to toe the starting line again.

I did this race a couple of years ago and earned my 5K PR. Maybe next year I’ll be going for a new 5K PR … one can hope!

Are you planning to do a turkey trot or holiday race?ย

Only a few more days, girl…you can do it! I will definitely be working out on Thanksgiving morning! Hoping to get outside but it all depends on weather (right now it looks to be fine so that is the plan).

My family has been invited to two friend’s turkey trots, so we’re going to have to figure out where we’re running! We used to just do our own family run, but now they do a 5K in our neighborhood (we have awesome runner neighbors!), so that’s the one I’m going to. I sure hope you will be able to get out there and run too!
