Early Birthday Gift: Running Edition!!!!!!

This post is sponsored by Monica’s Health Magazine. Thank you to the Monica team for supporting this blog!

Adam and I are enthusiastic gift givers. We find it really hard to wait for the actual occasion/ event to give each other a gift. I honestly can’t remember the last time I actually held out until Christmas to give Adam his present!

Since I may have mentioned that my birthday is coming up on August 4th, you might guess where I’m going with this…

Yesterday a special delivery came and Adam insisted I open it ASAP : )

He joked that it was a minimalist pair of running shoes since the box was kind of small and not very wide….. but it was something SO much more exciting!

HELLO NEW GARMIN FORERUNNER 220!

Cecil gave it the kiss of approval : )

I can’t wait to take my new watch out for a spin on tonight’s run!!!!

I just know with this new Garmin I am going to run 10 times faster at the Portland Marathon!

And now I have a special edition Garmin 210 that is looking for a new home with a really nice runner who will treat it well.

If you are looking for a Garmin 210 in great condition email me (runkristina@gmail.com) and make an offer : ) On ebay they are going for around $85 so I would accept something around that.

You can read a thoroughly in-depth review of the Garmin 210 HERE. That’s the review that actually prompted me to buy the 210 last April!

unnamed (19).jpgI hope I can find the 210 a good home otherwise I may need to keep it for old time’s sake. After all I ran my current 5K PR with it along with my first and second half marathons!

Do you have the FR220? What is your favorite feature?

What is the best running related gift you’ve ever received?!

I just got that same watch for my birthday! I’ve only run w/ it twice, so I haven’t gotten to try out all the features, but I’m excited about the quick connect to satellites, the accelerometer (for treadmill running), and the ability for people to live track you while you’re running! I hope you like it, and if you find any cool features, let me know!

      Happy belated birthday!! 🙂

I was so excited to learn that it works with the treadmill! All the reviews I’ve read have said once it gets to know you it is pretty accurate indoors!

I almost switched my 610 for a 220 earlier this spring, but I decided to stick with it. I think the 220 is a really good watch, so way to go, Adam! Review soon, please!

Awesome! What a nice boyfriend 🙂

You share a birthday with President Obama! Sorry, I’m a total birthdate geek. 🙂

I just got that watch from my husband for our anniversary!!! I have to say, I like it. It takes the weakest link out of the picture–ME. It synchronizes with my phone AUTOMATICALLY–uploads the data, and it then goes to the GARMIN connect, and then STRAVA. I like that it connects to satellites quickly too. I haven’t tried out too many of the other bells and whistles…YET.
Oh, and the best part–you will be setting personal bests all over the place–it let’s you know that automatically.
    GREAT GIFT, Adam!
    Happy early birthday! Enjoy!

I LOVE that it syncs automatically with my phone!!!! The 210 sometimes required a bit of jiggling to get it to connect to my computer which is a known issue, so the wireless upload is such a nice feature!

It took a while for the watch to connect to the satellites last night, but I’m guessing that’s because it was the first time.

I also love how bright the screen gets at night. I sometimes found the 210 difficult to read in the dark, but the 220 lights up beautifully!

WooHoo – so glad that you didn’t even have to wait a week to get your gift!!! Glad you got the 220 – I love mine and I probably don’t even use many of the features!!!

Well happy early birthday to you!!!! What a great gift. 🙂 The best running related gift I got was definitely my Garmin. Paul totally surprised me 2 Christmases ago and got me my first Garmin. I know, can you believe I have owned a Garmin for less than 2 years??? How did I survive without one? I held at as long as possible because I knew once I had one, there would be no going back. That’s why we don’t have smart phones yet. Because once you have a smartphone, you can’t turn back!

I don’t know how you survived without a Garmin and without a smart phone! Before I got my first Garmin I used to use the RunKeeper app to track all my stats!

So crazy that you don’t have a smartphone! Does your phone get Internet on it? lol
