Feeling Like Myself Again

It’s Friday! First I just want to say thank you to the person who shouted “way to run, Kristina!” last night at the beach :).

I’m sorry that I didn’t respond. I was listening to my music pretty loudly and I heard you but it didn’t register in my mind that you were talking to me until a minute later. I really do appreciate the encouragement, especially on hot days like yesterday!

At the end of my fartlek I just wanted to jump into the ocean … but I have a fish phobia and I needed to get home to watch the draft anyway!

The fartlek was my the first speed workout I’ve done in a few weeks. I’m glad to say I got it done even if it wasn’t the fastest or the prettiest run I’ve ever had because it’s the start of getting back into racing shape.

My fastest mile was only 14:10 but at least that serves as a baseline from which I can only improve! Remember when I used to run 11:xx minute miles during speedwork? Yeah, I barely remember it too :).

I have to say the first quarter of this year was the craziest period of my professional life. Even when things started slowing down in the beginning of April I still felt like I was on the treadmill of life going a million miles an hour. Vacation really, REALLY help me reset mentally.

Since we’ve gotten back from the cruise I have felt so much more balanced. I’ve been leaving work on time, getting in all of my runs, stretching and doing my yoga videos, lifting and even dreaming about PRs. Basically I feel like myself again.

This is going to be a good summer, I can feel it!

When I got home from my run I had a package waiting at my front door. If you’re an Oiselle fan then you saw that yellow tape and knew what it was!

A few weeks ago I purchased a visor and some shorts from Oiselle and fell in love with how comfortable both products are. I also love that the brand stands for female empowerment and advocates for women supporting women in sports (and in life).

I joined their Volée team earlier this month and am proud to be part of the flock.

From the Oiselle website, “The volée is a global community made up of women with diverse running backgrounds and competitive goals. We work hard to raise the bar in terms of how women support other women, fostering strength and leadership – not just through healthy competition, but in daily actions big and small. Our mission is to continue to build our sisterhood: one that is strong, supportive, passionate and all in on a woman-up word.”

Yesterday I got my first pair of Roga shorts which I think officially makes me part of the club. Everyone who wears Oiselle swears by these shorts so I HAD to give them a try. I’ll report back after I test them out! 🙂

Maybe I’ll wear them to the Color Run this weekend! I’m looking forward to heading over to packet pick-up after work and then pinning my bib on Saturday morning :).

If you’ll be at the run I’ll see you there!

Anyone else doing a race this weekend?
Football fans, are you happy with your team’s draft pick?

I love that 84 is hot right now because in a couple weeks 84 will be “nice” and we’ll be roasting in the 90s.

I’m glad you’ve felt more balanced since the cruise. That’s the whole point of vacation so I guess it worked!

I know!!! It’s honestly so hot right now that I’m trying to figure out how I’ve survived other summers. I think part of the reason it feels so crappy now is because the humidity has been through the roof AND it’s been hot. I hope the humidity goes down some!

You’re baaaack and you’re BACK. Keep up the good, balanced habits, okay?? Congrats on becoming part of the Flock! I wonder if Aldi would sponsor me?

I just splurged and got this pair of adorable Nike shorts, I didn’t want to take them off after my run, but I stank so bad, that Roger wouldn’t let me into the car if I didn’t change out of them…. sorry…. that started as a brag about my shorts and it got weird really quick.

Are you going to post pictures of your new fancy shorts?

Yay! Way to go on your running Kristina!

Yes I will have to post a pic once I wear them! I am sort of weird when I get new things and I don’t use them for a little bit because I am waiting for that perfect day that I need a pick me up! haha

OMG I know what you mean. When I get home from running Adam goes “get in the shower RIGHT NOW!” 😀 I do the same thing to him when he gets home from MMA class!

Pinning on a bib this weekend?? That’s awesome! Have fun. Loved the color run we did.
I do hear tons of great stuff about the Roga shorts. We’ll need a review! Congrats on joining the team!!

Thanks Lisa! I will definitely write a review once I wear them. The one thing I noticed is that they have built in undies which I didn’t realize they would and I don’t love shorts with build in bottoms but I’ll give it a try anyway!
