It’s Friday! First I just want to say thank you to the person who shouted “way to run, Kristina!” last night at the beach :).
I’m sorry that I didn’t respond. I was listening to my music pretty loudly and I heard you but it didn’t register in my mind that you were talking to me until a minute later. I really do appreciate the encouragement, especially on hot days like yesterday!
At the end of my fartlek I just wanted to jump into the ocean … but I have a fish phobia and I needed to get home to watch the draft anyway!
The fartlek was my the first speed workout I’ve done in a few weeks. I’m glad to say I got it done even if it wasn’t the fastest or the prettiest run I’ve ever had because it’s the start of getting back into racing shape.
My fastest mile was only 14:10 but at least that serves as a baseline from which I can only improve! Remember when I used to run 11:xx minute miles during speedwork? Yeah, I barely remember it too :).
I have to say the first quarter of this year was the craziest period of my professional life. Even when things started slowing down in the beginning of April I still felt like I was on the treadmill of life going a million miles an hour. Vacation really, REALLY help me reset mentally.
Since we’ve gotten back from the cruise I have felt so much more balanced. I’ve been leaving work on time, getting in all of my runs, stretching and doing my yoga videos, lifting and even dreaming about PRs. Basically I feel like myself again.
This is going to be a good summer, I can feel it!
When I got home from my run I had a package waiting at my front door. If you’re an Oiselle fan then you saw that yellow tape and knew what it was!
A few weeks ago I purchased a visor and some shorts from Oiselle and fell in love with how comfortable both products are. I also love that the brand stands for female empowerment and advocates for women supporting women in sports (and in life).
I joined their Volée team earlier this month and am proud to be part of the flock.
From the Oiselle website, “The volée is a global community made up of women with diverse running backgrounds and competitive goals. We work hard to raise the bar in terms of how women support other women, fostering strength and leadership – not just through healthy competition, but in daily actions big and small. Our mission is to continue to build our sisterhood: one that is strong, supportive, passionate and all in on a woman-up word.”
Yesterday I got my first pair of Roga shorts which I think officially makes me part of the club. Everyone who wears Oiselle swears by these shorts so I HAD to give them a try. I’ll report back after I test them out! 🙂
Maybe I’ll wear them to the Color Run this weekend! I’m looking forward to heading over to packet pick-up after work and then pinning my bib on Saturday morning :).
If you’ll be at the run I’ll see you there!
Anyone else doing a race this weekend?
Football fans, are you happy with your team’s draft pick?
