Fireworks + Weekly RUNdown!

Remember when I used to blog five days a week? That seems like a dream now. Life has been consistently hectic with a lot of changes going on at work and my mom moving here. I really hope to get back on the five day a week schedule and even do a lot more videos over the next couple of weeks. I bought a new camera on Friday that should be great to take videos with – it should be arriving today or tomorrow!

Aside from online shopping on Friday I also snuck out at night with a girlfriend to go see Magic Mike XXL!

(You might think that I only own one top but I promise I just own a variety of tops in this color!!! I love it! But I guess I should branch out to other colors!)

I know that we shouldn’t objectify men…. but really this movie is much more of a comedy than anything else. As my girlfriend put it, “I laughed more than I ooooh’d.” I won’t go into details in case you’re not into that sort of thing, but Joe Manganiello was aces. Alcide fans you won’t be disappointed!

Saturday I curled my hair before we headed over to Adam’s parents place for a BBQ. All of the ladies loved my hair but Adam noted that he isn’t able to tell the difference. Typical! 🙂

After we were all properly stuffed (no pics because we scarfed the food down) we went out to watch fireworks!

(^ I hope that gif works, I’ve never made one before!)

The show lasted about thirty minutes and was pretty spectacular. I love watching a good fireworks show!

Last year we were in Vegas for the 4th of July and didn’t get to see any fireworks because there was a rare thunderstorm!

Sunday we slept in pretty late and then walked down to the beach to grab lunch. I thought it would be super busy all weekend but it wasn’t too bad.

It was CRAZY hot out though. I couldn’t believe how many people I saw out running! I mean, it was only about 2 people, but seriously? Wait until it’s cooler out!!!!

Don’t kill yourselves… says the girl who continues to run on the treadmill because she’s a wimp and this heat is just suffocating.

Hey, treadmill miles are still real miles!

Here’s my rundown from last week:

20150131_171417 (1)

Monday: 4 miles

Tuesday: Cross training

Wednesday: 4 miles

Thursday: 5 miles

Friday: REST

Saturday: 8 miles

Sunday: 8 miles

TOTAL: 25 miles

This week was the first time in a couple of months where I really felt like I could tackle a half marathon again. It wouldn’t be pretty, but I could definitely do it without it being a total suffer fest. Now it’s all about getting back to the point where I feel good about tackling a marathon again… and that’s what the next couple of months are all about! WOOT!

How was your 4th of July weekend?  Did you see fireworks? Race? Watch the women’s soccer team kick butt? GO USA!!

Love the firework pictures 😀 And HELL YEAH treadmill runs are still real! I hope you get some cooler days soon so you get some runs with fresh air again 🙂

I don’t live in the US so the 4th isn’t really anything special. It was our Queen’s birthday though, haha! I went for a run with my dad and we got lost xD

  2. July 6, 2015 / 5:41 am

Great week of training! I don’t blame you at all for doing your runs on the treadmill. I always shake my head when I see people out running in the middle of the day in the summer- like why wouldn’t you go earlier or later when its a bit cooler!? but I guess if its the only free time they have they gotta do what they can.

I (sadly) had to work, but I was able to sneak in a 4th of July half marathon first! It started at 6:30AM and the heat and humidity were already bad!

    • July 6, 2015 / 10:19 pm

NICE!! I honestly cannot imagine running a half marathon in July – way to go Molly!

Your firework photos are great! I’m still learning how to use my camera. :S What mode do you put it in to capture the fireworks like that?

    • July 6, 2015 / 10:20 pm

I actually took those fireworks pics with the camera on my phone just using the standard camera setting! 😀

So funny about Adam not even noticing your hair. I am growing my hair/bangs out and I finally asked Rick if he noticed and he says “ummmm, no…not really”. Gotta love the guys.

Such a fun weekend for you! We saw Spy on Friday and Max on Sunday and had a wonderful lake BBQ and fireworks w/ family + friends. I really think this is one of my most favorite holidays.

    • July 6, 2015 / 10:23 pm

I feel like it’s so cliche to say that guys don’t notice hair, but Adam and Rick must be living cliches!

I mostly work with guys and bless their hearts, they try. Every few days they throw in a “hey, did you do something new to your hair?” or “new top? looking good!” even if my hair is the same and my clothes are too LOL. They crack me up!

So glad that you had an awesome 4th of July with the family It really is one of my favorite holidays – I love that it breaks up summer and I really love fireworks!

  6. July 6, 2015 / 1:09 pm

Your GIF is awesome 🙂 Great fireworks pictures. The water looks so pretty!
How did your back to back 8 mi runs feel?
yep, TM miles are real miles 😉 great week!

    • July 6, 2015 / 10:24 pm

Oh, such a good question about the back to back 8s. I survived them in one piece, so that’s a plus! 🙂 No, really they weren’t that bad at all. My right hip and IT band felt a little tight on Sunday night but after lots of stretching I was feeling back to normal this morning! 🙂

  7. July 6, 2015 / 1:36 pm

It’s kind of nice to be so busy with life that the blog has to take a backseat…it means you’re out there living :o)

Nice job on your runs this week! Have you been having crazy storms? My coast is getting clobbered!

    • July 6, 2015 / 10:24 pm

Yes, we have had the crazy storms too! I only lost power one day though, I feel for you losing power a couple of times!

  8. July 6, 2015 / 3:15 pm

Looks like fun! We didn’t go to fireworks, but we set some off ourselves. It was fun! Treadmill miles are real miles–especially in your heat. I, too, have multiple shirts of the same color. I guess I know what I like!

  9. July 6, 2015 / 3:36 pm

I want to see that movie! Sounds like a fun weekend! We always go away for 4th of July since we can see fireworks from our house all the time because Pittsburgh is so fireworks crazy.

    • July 6, 2015 / 10:25 pm

GO SEE IT! I thought it was way funnier than the first one! It won’t disappoint! 🙂

  10. July 6, 2015 / 5:44 pm

    Great workout week!!
I run at crazy o’clock in the morning to try and escape the summer heat but when I can’t, I go in the evening when it’s still 100 degrees but somehow less awful than at 2 or 3 in the afternoon lol

  11. July 6, 2015 / 7:09 pm

I definitely miss when you blog 5 days a week! And I can’t wait for more videos!!! 🙂

I like your hair curly, it looks great!

When I see people running on the rare PA days where it is 95+ degrees- even sometimes over 100, I wonder what are they THINKING!? I swear they are just doing it so they can go home and post on FB that they ran hahaha.

    • July 6, 2015 / 10:26 pm

OMG hahahah you’re right! I didn’t even think about the Facebook thing because I hardly ever post about my runs on Facebook. I save that for the blog, haha

  12. July 6, 2015 / 9:03 pm

I did a small run and watched an awesome firework show on the 4th! Sounds like we had a very similar day. 🙂 How was the Magic Mike movie? Would you say it is just for the ladies, or were there other guys in the theater?

Your new camera takes great photos – the photos of the fireworks are great! And cheers to the USA women’s soccer team! Girl power!!!

    • July 6, 2015 / 10:29 pm

Magic Mike was definitely a movie to go see and giggle over with your girlfriends! I thought it was much funnier than the first one, which I honestly didn’t like that much. I’m glad my friend convinced me to go see this one with her!

USA USA USA!! That game was so exciting!

  13. July 7, 2015 / 3:11 am

I definitely would notice the curls in your hair and I love them! And I started out blogging 5 days per week, too, but now that seems crazy to me just because the more I blog, the less invested I am in real life happenings. 2-3 days per week seems to be my current happy medium. (I try to do M, W, F).

And no fireworks for me this year- i was traveling all day Saturday and couldn’t see them from the sky!

  14. July 7, 2015 / 4:13 pm

What a spectacular view of the fireworks! Nice job on the Gif..I dont know even know how to make one! I can’t believe Chicago will be here in less than 100 days. Excited and scared!
