First Day of My New Life!

Okay maybe the title of this post is a little dramatic, but yesterday was my first day of freedom from my old job. I still ended up working most of the day even though I was planning to have a free day, but I worked from home and that was really nice.

After 5:30pm I was done for the day and walked to the grocery store to pick up some unsweet iced tea. I didn’t really need the iced tea, but I needed to get out of the house haha. I then cooked dinner. Like I actually had the time to cook dinner at a normal hour without feeling super stressed and rushed.

This whole work from home thing is not bad at all.

I heated up Trader Joe’s red lentil pasta and then made a homemade sauce with lean ground turkey, spinach and mushrooms. Adam said it came out restaurant quality :). I should have charged him $15 + tip.

The red lentil pasta is really good. I always see Sam (dietitian) making it on her Insta stories and have been wanting to try it. Adam said he couldn’t tell the difference between the lentil pasta and regular pasta!

I think the meal tasted extra good because so much stress had been lifted off of me. When I left my former job around noon on Wednesday I met Adam for lunch and then went to Sephora for a celebratory treat :).

I have been looking to try new moisturizers out for fall/winter since my skin has been SUPER oily lately. I had heard good things about the First Aid Beauty Oil-Free moisturizers but they were sold out.

A woman working at the store told me about a new brand I should try called Laneige. I asked her if it was cruelty free and she said yes without hesitation. Usually I would double check but she seemed so sure, so I bought a few sample packs of the products to try.

Unfortunately when I got home I checked and Laneige does test on animals, so I’ll have to bring these items back. It’s a shame because the products felt nice when I tested them in the store, and the packaging is really pretty too.

I just don’t get the point of animal testing. Ugh. Hopefully I’ll have time to drop into a different Sephora tomorrow and exchange these products for the First Aid Beauty ones.

I’ll be heading down into Miami tomorrow because I will finally see my doctor. My appointment, that was supposed to happen earlier this week, got rescheduled a couple of times. my doctor and I have spoken on the phone and I think everything is okay.

I’m still wearing band aids because the wound on my left leg is still healing, but it looks a lot better than it did before I started the antibiotics.

I’m now thinking it was an infection and the pills have done their job in helping me get rid of it. Once this wound heals I feel like I’ll be as ready as I can be to get back into running.

I really hope I’ll be able to get in a 4-miler this weekend, but we’ll see what my doctor says tomorrow. I worry that he won’t want me to run until the wound heals a bit more. When I run my lower legs get really swollen and that might irritate it. As it is, my lower left leg is in a constant state of being semi-swollen.

Anyway, I hope you have a great Friday.

I’m looking forward to getting into more of a blogging routine again now that my schedule is much more open and stress-free! Be sure to subscribe via BlogLovin or Feedly so you don’t miss a post. Thank you!

Any exciting weekend plans?

Does it feel weird to have “nothing” to do? Any time I get a few free hours or a day (very rare) I’m suddenly clueless in what important things I previously had wanted to do!! I guess that’s why I make so many lists 🙂 Enjoy your new routine!! Hope your Dr appt goes well.

Your day sounds like heaven 🙂
I am glad the antibiotics are helping. This is just a bump in the road…but I know it feels like forever.

I’ve tried many non-grain pastas and this lentil one is my favorite!

That’s a bummer about your experience at Sephora. I hope you can find a great cruelty-free option… and then share it here because I need something to help my oily face as well 🙂 haha! have a good weekend.

That pasta sounds good! I bet it would be great to work from home so there is more time to cook dinner. You sound so happy to be done with your old job!
