Guys, I DID IT! I finally ran 5K!
I took a couple of very short walking breaks, but that was mostly because my legs were so excited they kept running too fast and I would have to slow the pace down so my heart and lungs could keep up. Some day soon all three will be in sync and then some good shit is really going to happen!
I’ve got my eye on a 5K coming up mid-May as my first race back. I won’t race it for time I don’t think. My goal will be just to run the whole thing without having to take any walking breaks. That will mean I will really need to work on keeping my pace slow and even which has been a real challenge for me lately.
Still I’m bouncing in my seat so excited to finally have ticked off a 5K! I almost feel like a distance runner again :).
