Fixing What I Can + An Embarrassing Text Message!

Saturday’s hard 11-mile run really bummed me out. But yesterday after reading feedback and encouragement on Twitter, Facebook and here on the blog, I thought long and hard about what things are within my power to make the half marathon happen next month.

I put 110% effort into my long runs each week from a physical standpoint. I also feel I have really good mental strength.

It’s possible that I haven’t done enough cross training to make my legs/core strong for running 13.1, but that is something that can’t really be fixed by Nov 10th. (As a sidenote: I do intend to get back into weightlifting again SOON). The biggest thing that is within my power to correct within the next couple of weeks is my fueling.

So I went on a mission to find new methods of fuel yesterday since I am so tired of energy chews I simply can’t eat them anymore:

I am most excited about the Bonk Breaker Bars that Tracy recommended! There were so many different types of peanut butter options that my head was kind of spinning. There’s nothing I love more than PB!

I really think eating more on the run will help me get through those last couple of miles stronger.

Right now I am feeling MUCH better about the prospect of finishing the Fort Lauderdale Half than I was yesterday. I guess it’s a really good thing that I have short-term memory when it comes to bad runs.

One thing I REALLY REALLY wish I could forget right now is a stupid text message I sent yesterday.

Adam went to the Miami Dolphins game yesterday with his dad, so I sent him a text message saying “send me a pic!”Β

Unfortunately, for some weird reason instead of sending it to Adam I sent it to my friend’s husband!

So this poor man gets a text from his wife’s friend that just says “send me a pic.” OMG! HOW EMBARRASSING!Β

Of course, like a good husband he did not respond to me.

When I realized my mistake I texted my friend immediately to explain the situation! That I 1.) Didn’t meant to approach her husband in THAT way and 2.) That I wasn’t trying to get a sexy pic from Adam either. I simply wanted to see a pic from the game!

I will now double and triple check every single text message I send to make sure I am texting the correct person!!!

Thank you to everyone for the advice!

Have you ever texted the wrong person by accident?

What is your favorite thing to eat on the run?

I’m glad they thought it was funny, but I am considering deleting all men (besides Adam) from my contacts list so that this never happens again!

I started eating squeezy packets of baby food on long runs! Blueberry banana is one of my favorites. The natural sugars are fantastic and I don’t have to chew! I’ve battled with long run nausea for years and this is the first thing that hasn’t made me sick. Real food? Why didn’t I think of that sooner?

This is such a GOOD IDEA! Thank you!! I will definitely give it a try. I just hope Adam doesn’t freak out when he opens the cupboard and sees baby food in there πŸ™‚

So sorry about your bad run. It happens. Don’t dwell on it. Just look forward to a new challenge each time you run. I hate fueling on runs, so I wish I had better advice to give about what to try. Unfortunately, it is a necessary evil that we just need to put up with. I am laughing so hard about that text. whoops.

It is so evil! I’m going to keep trying different things this week and find something I can tolerate…. probably in the real food category. Or Twizzlers πŸ™‚

Indeed I have texted the wrong person! After a blind date with a guy, I texted a friend about him having bad teeth. I actually accidentally sent it to him!!!! So so so embarrassing!

I thought No Hands SEO was only a blog commenter till I done it and knew there is 50+ platforms and every handle you could need in a software. In addition it could possibly work in the setting forever without having me requiring you to tend to everything of the time.
