For the Kitchen!

Now that the closing date for Adam and my new townhouse is just around the corner I’ve become obsessed with collecting decorating ideas!

I went into Pottery Barn over the weekend and marveled at how beautiful everything is – and also how they want $70 for a simple candle.Β ?

While I may pick and chose a few items from PB and Williams-Sonoma, most of the stuff I buy will be from places where items are great quality but slightly less money.

One thing I’m pretty sure I’ll be buying from WS is this beautiful white marble cutting board withΒ copper monogram. It’s $39 which I actually think is reasonably priced, I was expecting it to be $99!

I would have bought it over the weekend but it’s really heavy and that would be just one more thing I need to pack and move.

I did buy a white marble spoon rest from Amazon last week and I picked up a cute set of measuring spoons at a store called Francesca’s in the Galleria Mall:

If you don’t have a Francesca’s near you, they have a cute website with a lot of inventory.

You can actually pick up a set of the measuring spoons here.Β This isn’t sponsored and I have no affiliation with Francesca’s I just think these spoons are so cute :).

While I was just on the site looking for the spoons I came across these measuring cups I didn’t see in store … omg.

Yeah, I’m gonna be needing those!

What stores do you like to shop in for home goods?
Do you go all out and decorate for Halloween/Thanksgiving/etc?

We get most of our house stuff at Target and HomeGoods. Williams Sonona and Pottery Barn have such nice stuff though! I just don’t care enough about house stuff to spend alot of money on it. We were registered at Williams Sonoma for our wedding so go some nice stuff that way!

Ohhh nice choice on registering at WS! I think their pricing is sort of strange. Like they want $25 for a spatula but then the marble monogrammed cutting board is only $39? I guess that just means if you cross your fingers and say a prayer there is a chance of getting something amazing at a decent price in there! haha

So true! WS and PB have the weirdest pricing but Target and Bed Bath and Beyond are still my go to with those 20% off coupons they send out like crazy lol.

I also have become a huge Amazon fan partly due to the prime membership and ease of just having stuff sent home without having to deal with crowds at the store. I know I am a bit lazy when it comes to those things.

        Good luck with the move!!

          Thanks Gus!

I’m totally with you, Amazon Prime is the best invention ever!

Home depot count?!?! Lol I’m a guy so that’s where I enjoy going.

Mrs Schlub loves decorating for Halloween and Christmas and those are the two holidays where we decorate the house and front yard. Kids enjoy it so its fun πŸ™‚

Hahahah SUCH a guy response! I’m so excited about decorating and Adam keeps telling me how excited he is to go to Home Depot and pick out new toilets LOL!

I really hope we have time to decorate for Halloween in the new place this year. If not, I will start my Christmas decorations really early! πŸ˜€

I love HomeGoods! Most of my home stuff is from there.

I love HomeGoods too! I just can’t go in there until we’ve gotten the keys to the townhouse since inventory turns over so fast there and I am not allowing myself to buy too much until we actually have the bigger space to put all of it in!

  4. September 27, 2016 / 8:26 am

I love your decorating style already. πŸ™‚ I go to places like Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls for decorative items. I haven’t bought anything decorative lately because we don’t really need anything. I do buy frames and hang pictures in our dining room after our vacations, though!

Thank you! πŸ™‚ Adam and I have never really been the decorating type – I guess you could call us minimalists in this sense (or lazy). We feel like adults with the townhouse though so we’re planning to actually paint, decorate etc. and I’ve been surprised by how into it I’ve gotten! I have very clear ideas about what I want each area of the house to look like.

If you saw in the video I posted on FB the countertops in the kitchen are black marble which I don’t love (AT ALL) but we don’t want to replace the countertops right away since that’s very expensive and we need to do other renovations first. To brighten up the area I’m making sure everything that sits on the countertop is WHITE MARBLE. I think that will really help! Eventually I want to put quartz in there like we have in the apartment now!

I need that monogrammed cutting board! Beautiful! I mostly window shop W-S, Pottery Barn, and Crate & Barrel, then try to wait for a sale or coupon code to at least soften the blow to my wallet.

I know! I was literally the heart eye emoji when I found those cutting boards!

I am hoping that I’ll be able to pick a few things up during the fall sales (black friday, etc). Although I want to get a new eco friendly washer and dryer and fridge before I go nuts on the small decor stuff!

  6. September 27, 2016 / 10:51 am

I get a lot of home stuff at Target or TJ Maxx. I bought pumpkins yesterday which felt like I was decorating for fall and it made me really happy. I have lots of Christmas decorations, but I just don’t have any Halloween/Thanksgiving…I think I will buy some after the holidays this year (when they are on sale), so I’ll have them for the future. πŸ™‚

I really wanted to decorate for Halloween this year but we’re going to be mid-move so I don’t think it’s going to happen πŸ™ Great idea to stock up on things for next year though! I’m with ya on that!

  7. September 27, 2016 / 1:51 pm

Oooooh, but be careful — a marble cutting board will destroy your knives!

AHH! I didn’t even think of that! I’ll have to keep my current cutting board for practical use while I leave the marble one out on the counter for decoration! πŸ™‚ Thank you for the tip off!

So very exciting to be moving into a new place! I’m not really into decorating, although I love watching HGTV! My daughter will be taking a decorating class at Jr. High this year, so maybe that will kick it into gear. Right now I’ve pretty much had the same stuff for the last 13 years. I guess when you like something, you don’t get sick of it πŸ™‚ Or I’m just too cheap to buy new stuff.

They have decorating class in school?! That’s so cool! Why didn’t my school have this! I’ve never really been into decorating until now … and I have so much learning to do! Please share any tips your daughter passes along! haha

Aren’t they literally the cutest measuring cups ever? I don’t know if they fit my kitchen decor theme, but they fit the cat lady theme of my LIFE! haha

  11. September 27, 2016 / 5:11 pm

Just added that spoon rest to my wish list. I had no idea WS had those marble cutting boards… I’ve been white marble obsessed lately. Hmmm Home Goods, West Elm. I’ve seen Ikea hacks that look really good, but the question is…do I want to spend time hacking. Oh.. .have you checked out way

YES! I have a wayfair account. I love that you can create shoppable boards! It’s like Pinterest but so much more convenient since you can buy everything from one place!

I’m obsessed with white marble everything too! It’s just so beautiful and classic!

I’m with you on not being sure I want to hack anything. I’m excited to paint … and to look around when I’m done and know I DID IT instead of hiring a painter, but I think that is the extent of my skills! haha
