Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Friday after work I had some time to kill before I needed to head over to Miami International Airport to pick up Adam.

I went for a walk around Coconut Grove to check out a couple of little shops:

And then I went to Flannigan’s so I could grab a bite to eat and watch some basketball to pass the time before Adam’s (delayed) flight got in at 8:30pm.

It was a bit weird to be at the restaurant all by myself while everyone around me was with their family or friends… It was weird but I didn’t really mind it. I like being with friends but I appreciate alone time too!

I finally got the call that Adam was out of customs around 9:30pm (so late)! Both of us were pretty beat on Friday night so we just got into our PJs and relaxed for a couple of hours before bed.

On Saturday we fell right back into our happy little routine of eating tacos and then hitting up the gym together.

I increased my weights for squats and decreased my assistance on pull-ups … my heart was pumping and I was sweating like I had just run 5 miles after that workout!

Strength training is pretty great… except for the part where you’re sore as a mf’er the next day! haha #PardonMyFrench

It’s a great feeling to make gains though! It’s the same feeling you get when you knock out a new running PR!

After the gym I had to take a quick shower and get ready for a movie date with a girlfriend! We went to see Pitch Perfect at the dine in theater, of course!

I didn’t love part two as much as the first PP movie, but it was still cute.

After the movies, I swung by the house to pick up Adam and then we went down to the beach to get some frozen yogurt!

The beach is a hoppin place on a Saturday night! Lots of music and lights …. I much prefer the peace and quiet I get during my runs :).

Sunday was a chill out day!

Mom, stooooop taking pictures of me!

I ran a couple of miles but I didn’t get in the seven that I had planned. My stomach wasn’t feeling well at all – for the second time this week. I hope that I don’t have the stomach flu or something (TMI?)!

I hope you had a great weekend! To everyone who raced, I can’t wait to hear all about it!

Do you mind going to places (like restaurants) by yourself?

Isn’t it weird when you go somewhere you normally run in your regular clothes? I was speed walking to the froyo just because my legs are used to running A1A!

Awww thanks Kristina!!! I’m so glad I have such awesome supportive blogger friends 🙂

Looks like you had a nice weekend! I’ve been wanting to see pitch perfect but I’m worried it won’t live up to my love of the first one…. fat Amy should just have her own movie.

I get so weird about eating by myself… I don’t know why I feel like everyone is staring at me!

Hahaha well I actually think a lot of people do stare when you eat alone! Most people at least look for a second too long or do a double take. I guess it’s weird to see someone sitting at a table for one, but oh well! 🙂

PP2 wasn’t as good as the first but you’ll still like it! GO SEE IT!

  2. Megan @ Meg Go Run

    Yay for some lifting PRS!!!!

I want to see the first Pitch Perfect but Paul won’t watch it for me and keeps forgetting to download it for me…

OMG after the pullups I was sore for three days straight. I think I decreased too fast … but what’s done is done and now I’m super strong 😉

  3. Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine

Sorry to hear your stomach wasn’t cooperating. Ive had that happens a few times and there’s really nothing you can do! Hopefully they were just flukes:)

    Congrats to Maddie! Go girl!!!!

I love strength training, but I hate being sore lol that’s why I always find a reason to not do my legs, I must stop it.
I liked PP2 🙂 You really didn’t love it?! I loved the music. I was so relieved they didn’t resort to more vomit humor I think I enjoyed it more, except for the bathroom humor camping scene, that’s just not my thing for laughs! LOL

I did love it! Well, I liked it a lot, but I didn’t like it as much as the first one. I did like the german group though, they really grew on me – esp. the guy, he was funny! I loved the battle scene at the party, that was great!

  6. Heather

Congrats on your strength training improvement!! So impressive!

I don’t mind going places by myself. I moved to a new city by myself and had to get used to it pretty quickly. There are times when I actually prefer being by myself instead of with other people, but then, I am pretty introverted so that isn’t really a surprise.

Same here. I miss Adam when he’s gone during work trips and stuff, but for the most part I’m cool with being alone! Well… not totally alone. I need Cecil for company 🙂

I don’t mind eating by myself, but it rarely happens. I do think it is weird to be places in non-running clothes, when you are used to it the other way. I went to my son’s track meet on Saturday in “civilian clothes” vs. my coaches/running clothes, and it felt weird. Although the other officials saw me, and quickly recruited me to officiate the javelin, so then I felt really strange. I was glad that I had sneakers on a least.
Congrats on your weight lifting PR’s…keep it up!

Who are you cheering for? I want Golden State to win it!! I would go eat alone if I had to. I will almost do anything alone if I can’t find a companion. I once went to a Rockies game by myself when Rick had to work at the last minute. It actually wasn’t bad at all. And I often go to the movies by myself when he is off skiing in the winter. I don’t mind that at all and sometimes prefer it!!

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

I’m cheering for Golden State too! I don’t like James Harden at all (no particular reason why, just something about him), and I can’t cheer for a team in the east. The HEAT are the only eastern team for me! If they’re not in, it’s gotta be someone from the west!

  9. Richard

Glad he got back with no issues. That area at night looks too hip for me lol I prefer the pj’s and relaxing.

    Aww, Cecil!

I used to hate hate hate eating in restaurants alone and would go to a lot of trouble to avoid it, but after traveling so much for work I’ve just come to accept it and really don’t mind anymore. Now I get annoyed when people (almost always middle aged men) try to talk to me while I’m eating alone.

Congrats on your improvements in strength training!

Oh man, I SUPER hate when people bother me when I’m eating or doing anything alone. I try to be engrossed in my phone or a book so that no one approaches me and if they do I just give them The Stare 🙂

  11. Hanna

I don’t really mind going to restaurants alone, because usually I can just eat at the bar so no one really notices.

It IS weird going somewhere I normally run in my regular clothes! Although it is kind of nice to be like, hey, I’m clean and relaxed and not sweaty and gross right now!

It sounds like you had an awesome weekend! Congrats on your strength training gains – BEAST MODE!

I have caught myself putting on running clothes to go places I’m used to running to….especially if said place is outside. I’m usually so comfortable in those clothes though, that I tend not to care!!

Haha SAME! When I was on my way to pick Adam up I thought about going inside to change into my workout clothes for comfort lol!

Yay Maddie! She did pretty awesome!

I hate going to restaurants alone, so I almost never do it. I don’t really mind cooking, especially easy stuff, so if I’m alone I’ll just go ahead and do that. I only ever cave when I’m traveling alone for work.

    I like that peacock statue!

My stomach was really weird on Saturday. I kept trying to figure out if I hadn’t eaten something weird, and because I couldn’t narrow it down I figured that maybe I’m getting the flu or something. But it was all better on Sunday! Maybe just a 24 hour bug.

Will see Pitch Perfect this Friday – so excited. I don’t mind eating at restaurants myself (especially if I park myself at the bar). Since I do not have ESPNU I walk across the street from my apartment (probably 20 feet) to a restaurant nearby to watch some lacrosse games 🙂

I have never sat at the bar when I’ve gone to a restaurant by myself. I always get a table or a booth. I wonder if the waitstaff are annoyed by that. I never thought about it!

  16. Liv @ Healthy Liv

I’m excited to see Pitch Perfect 2! At first, i thought you said drive-in movie and I thought that was awesome! I wish they still had those everywhere 🙂 But dine-in is cool, too 😉

We actually do have a drive in movie theater nearby! I have never been though. The comfort of the big cushy seats and the delicious meals of the dine-in theater totally call my name instead 🙂

I want to see Pitch Perfect 2 but I’m also scared it won’t live up to the first one. I wish we had a cool dine-in theater to go see it at!

I agree about PP! I loved seeing the girls again, but I thought the whole USA vs. Germany(aka Eastern block / iron curtain / rocky vs drago etc) plot has been played out….it’s so 1980’s!! lol

It doesn’t happen that often but I would always prefer to go alone instead of missing out. I’ll see a movie alone, Dodger game, eat at a restaurant, take a trip, etc alone if I have to.

I love that so many ladies here are cool with doing things alone! I think as runners we spend so much time alone running that we’re just super comfortable with it!

Our new tenant has some really cool cat trees (is that what those are called?).
The first day she lived in the apartments was scary – one of her cats was missing. I spent most of the morning helping her look and then went back a couple times in the afternoon and evening. She finally found her (under the front porch of the venue (actually, under the house) and got her out about 9:00 pm. Long day for her but thankfully the cat was fine.
