Just got back from my first run with the new Garmin Forerunner 210 and I love it!
My new GPS watch and I waved at a lot of nice people and saw many signs that spring has sprung (like these pretty yellow flowers):
When I first walked outside it took a while for the Forerunner to find satellites — I would say it was a good minute and a half versus the 30 to 60 seconds they advertise. However, the other night when I unboxed the watch and walked outside it did find the Satellites really fast, so maybe there was just some interference tonight.
I haven’t had a chance to try out the interval training feature yet but I do plan to see how it works this weekend during my long run.
I really like the size of the watch, it sits really nicely on my wrist. Some reviews have mentioned that it’s small enough to be worn as a regular watch, but it’s a little too big for my taste to do that.
Overall I really enjoyed running with it tonight. I’m looking forward to it becoming my BRF (best running friend) during the rest of my half marathon training.
My only complaint – which has nothing to do with the Forerunner – is that it is humid as heck out! I came home and was literally a human puddle. So gross!
Hopefully I can drag myself out of bed early in the morning and hit the pavement when it’s a little less humid out this weekend. I am committed to running outdoors though – I will learn to love running in south Florida’s heat (mostly because I have no choice). I don’t want to be a treadmill runner forever.
