Get Ready With Me

Hey there! Adam and I had a super chilled weekend, so instead of a normal blog post I thought I would film a Get Ready with Me (GRWM) vlog.

I filmed my “no makeup, makeup” routine. Give it a watch and let me know what you think!

I am not a beauty guru, I have never taken lessons and I generally have no idea what I’m doing. BUT I do love playing with makeup and I think I’m close to perfecting a natural look that works for me.

Maybe you’ll watch it and disagree though … if you do leave me your best advice in the comments below! πŸ™‚ Help a girl out! (Trust me, I already know the brows are struggling).

I like using cruelty free cosmetics, and unfortunately NARS has recently decided to start selling in China. While China no longer requires animal testing on products manufactured in the country, they do still require testing on all imported cosmetics.

It’s such an ugly thing to require, and I’m disappointed that NARS has entered the market. Every time a makeup brand decides to sell in China you can tell that they were never serious about their “cruelty free” label. It was just something they touted while it was convenient.

That’s why I really love brands like Tarte that have made a strong commitment to being cruelty free. I’m currently testing out a Tarte foundation and hope it will be a good replacement for my NARS All Day Luminous foundation.

If you have any suggestions for a cruelty free foundation that works for combination skin please let me know!

What’s your favorite foundation brand?
Anyone use any K-beauty brands? Thoughts?

I will check out your video later.

I don’t wear make up, so I don’t have any recommendations for you, sorry! how do you find out which brands are cruelty free? and how do you stay updated ? I admire you dedication to staying cruelty free.

Thanks Ana! When I’m at the makeup store I usually just do a quick google search on my phone for “is ____ cruelty free?” There are a few sites that can be trusted to stay up to date on that sort of thing — Cruelty Free Kitty is one of my favorites!

NARS expanding into China makes me want to cry. I seriously love their lip products, foundation, and blushes. It is super disappointing. Stila rejoined the cruelty free party this year…so hopefully maybe someday NARS will realize this was a mistake.

I also like to bring my blush up my cheek like that. If it is wrong, I don’t want to be right πŸ™‚
