Getting Focused!

Happy Monday!

Today’s post is going to be short-ish. I spent most of yesterday backing up my site and then transferring my blog to a completely new host. (If you’re seeing this, hallelujah!) This process took about 12 hours so I watched a lot of YouTube videos and the Super Bowl of course!

The good news is that now you shouldn’t have any more issues with posts and comments not appearing or disappearing and then reappearing. Trust me when I say it was just as annoying for me as it was for you, and I am so happy to (hopefully) have this issue fixed!

The bad news is that the transfer didn’t complete until after 10pm last night so I don’t have a post prepped.

I did wanted to pop in and say Happy Monday though. Monday posts are my favorite because I love checking in on comments throughout the work day and seeing what you got up to over the weekend, or are planning to do this week!

Today is my first official day working with my new running coach which I am really excited about. Some of you may know her as Mollie from Piece of Cake Running. She came HIGHLY recommended to me from my friend Jenny and I am fired up and ready to go for this base building phase of training.

Since I only have one goal race this year, and right now that goal is way out of reach, this base building phase is super important.

Here’s what I’ll be focused on the next few months:

  • Getting faster (running)
  • Getting stronger (strength training)
  • Staying loose and injury free (yoga)

Mollie has included a bunch of videos from Jasyoga for me to do almost every day in addition to my runs. I’ve never really done any yoga so this will be way new for me, but I’m excited to give it my best shot!

      I did my first jasyoga video yesterday (a glute one)…. wow, what a workout! I had no idea yoga was so intense. I have a new found appreciation for it. I was literally sweating within like 5 minutes!

    How exciting! Can’t wait to follow along on your training w/ your new coach. Weights and yoga are both amazing things to add to running. My goal is to get three sessions of each per week. I really am so much more grounded when I am practicing yoga more regularly. Best part of the weekend was probably our little “superbowl party” that we had (just Rick, myself and Macy) and watching the game together. Loved Lady Gaga. Amazing show!

      Hahhaah I love it! I had the same kind of Super Bowl Party (Adam, Cecil and I). During OT I looked at cecil and he was sitting facing the TV and I thought that was so cute. I’m sure he was just mimicking us, but it totally looked like he was glued to the action! ;D

    My long run was amazing this weekend. The miles went by so fast and I love when that happens :).

    By the way, I normally spend a lot of time watching YouTube during weekends.

    Can’t wait to see your progress with your new coach. I’m more excited than you are lol.

    Weekend was full of adventuring around the trails. Posted a bunch of pics. Looking forward to…I have daddy daughter date night at my church this Friday. Sooooo looking forward to it ?

    I guess I’m in the minority on this but I thought the Lady Gaga show was just okay. It was good, but it didn’t blow me away. It also seemed short.

    As you know I’m base building now too. My focuses for the next few months are improving my all-around fitness with cross training and starting to feel like my old self again. I’m not going to work on speed too much because I don’t want to peak early: I’m saving all that hard work for marathon training and just trying to get in a good place to start from.

      I love how you always approach each training cycle with such a smart, well thought out approach. I’m always just like LET’S GO, WHOOO which is why I’m happy to be working with a coach again 🙂

      Thanks Ali! Luckily I was able to tap the web developer I work with to help when I ran into issues otherwise I’m sure I would still be working on it! Probably banging my head against the wall!

      Hey Amy! I did my first yoga video last night (activating the glutes) and WOW! It was so much harder than I thought it would be. The video I did was less than 15 mins long but I was sweating!!! haha

    Who’s hosting your site now? I went with HostGator for a multi year deal. Transferring over is a little nerve wracking, hoping it all ends up working correctly!
