Happy But a Little Crazed Too

Yesterday I woke up to a flat tire. Not my favorite way to start a Monday – but it could have been worse!

Adam popped off my tire, put on the spare and I was off to spend an hour and a half in the waiting room at Tires Plus.

I was waiting with three other women and they were all so awesome. A couple of morning talk shows played in the background while we chatted about how important it is for women to be strong, smart and independent. You just never know where you’re going to meet cool people!

When the conversation died down I decided to download Meb for Mortals to my Kindle. I’ve been meaning to read it for a while and thought reading would make the time pass by a little easier.

Meb dedicated the book to the running community, and it’s like he took the words right out of my mouth.

I love that! I love Meb!

I also scrolled through the Instagram feed of Britney Spears. Fifteen year old Kristina wanted to be just like Britney, and 29 year old Kristina thinks we could be pretty good friends. I mean look at these Instas!

Britney, hit me up if you want to go for a run while we talk about cute cat pics we’ve seen on the Internet!

After the tire fiasco I finally got to my office around noon but still made it home just a little after seven. I went to the gym for a cross training session. I should have lifted yesterday but I was honestly over it by that point. By “it” I mean the day. Instead I just hopped on the elliptical.

I felt better after my little workout and stretching :).

Isn’t it funny how just a simple, easy workout can totally change your perspective on the day?

If I look happy but a little crazed it’s because that’s exactly how I felt :).

Cecil, on the other hand, is always zen.

We should all be more like him!

Do you know how to change your own tire?
Have you read Meb for Mortals? Is it the best?!

I have no idea how to change a flat tire! I want to read Meb for Mortals. But i have two other books on my kindle that i have to get through first. Glad your workout helped turn your day around!

So far Meb for Mortals is really good. It’s written in a nice conversational tone. I think you’ll like it when you get to it!

I love Meb too! Maybe I should read that book. Although I generally don’t like books about running. Isn’t that weird? I do not know how to change my own tire but I do know how to call AAA! I’ve actually never had a flat tire and only have had to call them when I locked my keys in the car or my battery died. Oh there was that time I hit ice and slid down a hill into a field. I called them then, too!!!

Yesterday I was thinking I should learn how to change a tire on my own, but then I thought WHY? I have AAA as well and part of being a smart, independent woman is using your resources to make shit happen. You don’t necessarily need to be able to change your own tire to be smart or independent! That being said, I watched Adam change the tire and I thought it looked fairly simple. I don’t necessarily WANT to change a tire, but I think if I was in some sort of competition I could do it pretty easily!

I know you could do anything you set out to do and had the desire to do. But like you, I would rather call AAA! My parents get it for us for V-day each year. Isn’t that sweet?? Not very independent of me, though. 😉

I do know how to change a tire, but I am nervous about the jack!
I am so in love the kitty back pack I can’t stand it lol
i am always amazed how a good workout can change my perspective completely!

I am in love with the kitty with the backpack too! I want Cecil to wear one so badly, but I know he never would. When I first brought him home I tried to put a collar on him because I think collars on cats look really cute but he was having NONE of that. He actually got his jaw stuck in the collar trying to rip it off himself, so after that he’s been sans collar.

I don’t know how to change a tire–I have AAA and also Mazda Roadside Assistance….and let’s be honest, a cell phone and a husband that would come bail me out any day (he has had to do this when I get a flat on my bike). I love zen kitty. Macy is all about being totally zen and stretching all….the….time. She’s what I aspire to!

We are in the same boat! Good men, reliable AAA service and while I don’t have Mazda, I think Geico offers roadside assistance! We lead pretty good lives, huh? 🙂

Awww Macy, spoiled pets are the best!

I know the basic steps involved with changing a tire, but I probably couldn’t do it on my own. I would be worried about not placing the jack in the right spot or not being strong enough to loosen the lug nuts. Now it really doesn’t matter because my new car has run flat tires and no spare.

After I commented to Megan above that I thought I *could* change a tire, my next thought was “but could I tighten the lugs enough that I would feel safe driving the car?” The answer to that is a big nope, haha. If I did drive the car it would be at 2mph! 🙂

I loved that book so much! He has so many great tips and exercises in there. Have you read his biography? It’s really good. He has truly lived a very interesting life.

I do know how to change a tire… largely because my dad made me learn. It came in handy once, though!

I have not read Meb’s bio yet but it’s definitely on my list!

That’s so cool that you can change a tire on your own, and even more so that you have!!!

  7. May 17, 2016 / 2:30 pm

I am amazed at people like you who can work out so late in the evening. I usually run in the PM too, but if I’m not out the door by 6:30 it’s just not gonna happen. Granted, I’m out of the office by 5, but still.

I think I know how to change a tire. I’ve learned before, but, if you asked me right now what to do I probably wouldn’t know how to answer. I know the general steps involved but I would probably miss something or screw something up if I tried to do it right now.

Nah, I believe in you! Watching Adam yesterday the steps all just seemed so logical. I bet if you knew them before you could totally do it right now. Then again, what do I know, since I have never properly learned and done it! I still believe in YOU though! 🙂

Men for Mortals is probably my favorite non-fiction running book. I did get a little tired of it toward the end – it’s not like something you can just read for fun, it’s an instructional book – but I still go back into it and find advice and helpful pieces now and again.

I’m in total learning mode right now gearing up for marathon training so it’s the exact kind of book I’m in the mood for! If I wasn’t excited about meeting a big goal, I’m not sure an instructional book like this could really keep my interest. I’m glad to hear that you still go back to it – that must mean it’s good!

I just love Britney. I would love to see her perform one day. Love the insta photo of the cat wearing a backpack. What would Cecil think about this? How did he do while you were on your vacation? Does he get excited when you return home?
