Having “Emergency” Surgery Today

Hey left leg, get your shit together.Β

Remember all that talk last week about the stupid incision on my left leg that got infected? Well, after a round of antibiotics it healed and I thought everything was good… until it wasn’t. It got infected again and now I have to go in for surgery so the doctor can clean out the wound and re-close it.

I sent my doctor a picture yesterday afternoon of the new infection and he called me at 5:30pm to tell me he wanted me in surgery this morning.Β At least I wasn’t given a lot of time to freak out about it.

My doctor isn’t sure if I’m going to have to be put under general anesthesia or if I can just do local. I saw his physician assistant last time, so this morning will be the first time he sees it. Once he sees what we’re working with he’ll decide what needs to be done. He said based on the pic he thinks local will be fine.

There are a few things that I’m very hopeful for. The first is that the saga ends here and I’ll be able to run again soon. The second is that this incision heals fast because I’ve been told time and again that I shouldn’t moisturize or shave my legs until everything is healed so my legs are dry and hairy AF.

The good news, as Adam put it, is that I get free sympathy all weekend. He and Cecil will be back to being my nurses for a couple more days.

I’m not saying I’m looking forward to surgery, but it is nice to be catered to :). Follow me on Instagram @KristinaRunning for Insta Story updates if you want to know what’s going on. Otherwise I’m sure I’ll pop up a post on Monday.

I hope you have a great weekend. See you on the other side of surgery.

What are you up to this weekend?

Thanks Lisa! Unfortunately I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and instead of being pampered I just wanted to be left alone to sleep. I think I slept 24 of the last 30 hours! hah!
