Hi From the Bahamas!

Happy Boston Marathon Monday! It’s a particularly happy Monday because I’m on vacation :). Adam and I left on Saturday for a seven day cruise through the eastern Caribbean on Harmony of the Seas.

We started the trip with a stop in Nassau in the Bahamas yesterday!

We didn’t get off the ship to explore because we kind of slept in until noon. That is pretty normal for us on the first day of a cruise :). It’s so relaxing and the boat rocks you right to sleep… and keeps you that way.

Luckily we live super close to the Bahamas and can make a trip down on our own anytime we want so it’s not a big deal.

While we were pulling away from Nassau I got acquainted with the running track on the ship. Normally I am the only person on the track but yesterday there were probably at least 10 other people using it. At least 9 of those people were faster than me, but I ran longer than they did… Not that I was keeping track or anything :D.

The temperature was just about 80 degrees but the humidity felt sky high. Ah well, it’s so nice to be able to run in the middle of the day. I am so happy that the running track isn’t on the top deck in the blazing sun!

I ended up doing 6 miles which is equal to 14.4 laps around the track. I don’t think I have ever done 14 laps around a track before …. wow. I may run on the treadmill tomorrow where I can watch some videos for entertainment :). The view from the track was beautiful though.

I felt a slight twinge in my left knee when I was walking up the stairs back to my deck after the run. Hmmmm I hope that’s nothing!!! I wonder if the boat rocking threw off my gait a little bit and that is what is causing my knee to feel tender? I’ve never experienced this on a ship before though. Hmmm!

As we were pulling away from Nassau I sent my momย very important Easter instructions for Cecil:

My mom is just as crazy as I am so of course she replied with, “I will do that, no problem.” It’s good to have a mom who is on your level haha.

As much as I love vacation I always miss Cecil so much. Luckily there are a lot of Easter treats to distract me.

The raspberry and blackberry mousse is so so good. It’s not too sweet and it’s super light.

I hope everyone running the Boston Marathon is feeling light on their feet this morning. Go Heather and all of my other runner friends toeing the starting line. Have a magical day!

    Nice job getting in your run on vacation! I was imagining the track would be alot smaller and you would have to do like 10 laps to get in a mile. Not sure why I thought that, but I think its much better to have to do less laps! Have a great rest of of your trip!

    I hope you are having a fabulous time on vacation! All that food looks really good. Cecil’s Easter instructions cracked me up! ๐Ÿ™‚ I wish I could watch him for you, I would have fun spoiling him and sending you adorable pictures. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m sure your knee is nothing! I get little aches and twinges all the time that go away before I even remember they are there.

    Are you going both directions on the track? I feel like running the same direction for 14 laps could make your knees or IT bands act up! I have never done that many laps before – I am super impressed!!!

      Hmm that could be it! Unfortunately you can only go in one direction on the track. If I tried to go the other way I’d be going against traffic. If I woke up super early and had the track to myself I could prob do it…. but that’s unlikely to happen! haha
