I can hardly believe it’s June already! I feel like just yesterday January 1st was ticking by.
In May I had my highest mileage month for the year, and also my highest mileage month ever! I know this is just a very small milestone in the grand scheme of things, but it feels kind of cool so I’m celebrating!
February: 66.2 (included taper + half marathon)
March: 57 (rest after half + starting to build back up to double digit runs)
April: 72.5 (cruise + low motivation after the cruise)
May: 94.6 — ready to go for 100+ in June!
Total so far for 2014: 367.1
I am four months (and 4 days) out from my first marathon now and looking forward to what the next few months have in store!
(I think I found the 50K I am going to sign up to do in spring 2015, but more on that later. I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself!)
I don’t have many pictures from this weekend because I spent most of it in bed sleeping. On Friday morning my sinus pressure turned into a sinus infection and I felt MISERABLE. I had three important meetings at work that I couldn’t reschedule, so I just had to pop pills and trudge through the day.
Saturday I woke up feeling a bit better, so I went for an 11 mile run in the late afternoon. It wasn’t my strongest run, but it really wasn’t terrible. The fresh air and movement felt great after spending 24 hours moving between the couch and the bed.
Sunday morning I woke up before Adam and decided I wanted to log some pool time. I planned on swimming laps and maybe doing a little pool running, but once I got down there all my body wanted to do was float around… which ended up being really nice! Sometimes we have to give ourselves permission to be really lazy!
I had all intentions of going to the gym after lunch, but I ended up taking yet another long nap. I guess my body needs lots of rest to fight off this little cold because I feel like I spent all weekend sleeping!
Now I’m ready to tackle the week ahead — including lots of really STRONG runs! Let’s do it!
Oh and before I go, I just have to share this funny article from the local paper:
The Sun Sentinel writes, “the animal initially struggled to get situated, but once it got comfortable it chilled out in the hammock for about 20 minutes.” How funny is that?
What are you most excited for this week? Any big plans?
