I Have Bronchitis and am Re-Listening to Serial

On Thursday I had a tickle in my throat.

On Friday my throat hurt.

By Saturday morning I had completely lost my voice and found myself sitting in the doctor’s office. Not exactly the place I dreamed of being on a Saturday morning!

My doctor has cleared me of strep throat and says I have a case of bronchitis with an extra irritated throat. After a couple doses of antibiotics and a steroid, my voice is starting to come back as of this morning, but my throat still hurts like hell.

Adam has been great about making me chicken noodle soup and Cecil has been showing me first hand how much sleep I need to get.

I actually think I may have slept more than C yesterday! I’m pretty sure out sleeping a cat is some kind of achievement!

I’m annoyed about having bronchitis because I don’t know anyone who is sick. I keep thinking, “where did this come from?!” Hopefully Adam won’t catch it from me.

I’m very upset that I’ll have to skip my long run this week. Just when I was starting to build my mileage back up I am faced with another annoying setback.

I get that this is out of my control and I can’t do anything with this cough let alone go running but that doesn’t mean it isn’t frustrating!

The positive to all of this is that I have enough time on my hands to re-listen to all of Serial and Undisclosed again. Maybe I’ll finally figure out if I think Adnan is guilty or not. For the first time in a while I’m leaning towards not guilty.

Best home remedy for getting over a cold quickly (that can be done while taking antibiotics)?

Is Adnan guilty or innocent? Jay?  At the beginning of Serial I thought Adnan was innocent. By the end I thought he was guilty. Now I’m back to thinking he is innocent. Jay has to be guilty of something, right? But was Adnan involved?!

Sorry that you aren’t feeling well! Im always surprised when I get sick in the warmer months, especially when no one around me is sick. For me it usually starts with allergies and then turns into a cold. Hope you feel better quickly!

Thanks Lisa! Yep, my allergies have been HORRIBLE lately so this is just the icing on the cake! Bleh!

  2. Ariana

I got bronchitis last spring at the beginning of May. It stunk, but honestly you just have to let yourself rest and take it easy when you go back to running otherwise you risk irritating your bronchi and being out even longer. Remember, you can take 2 full weeks off from exercise without significant loss of fitness so just rest up!

Hi Ariana! Thanks for dropping in with some needed words of wisdom. This just really stinks but I hope that I’ll be able to get in a short and easy run by Wednesday. I’ll definitely take it by feel though and if I’m still coughing I’ll stay in bed!

Ah, bronchitis is going around at work right now! I’m trying to avoid it! I hope your throat feels better soon!

I hope you feel better soon! Two people I know were really sick last week so it must be the final germ fest before summer. Take care!

I hope they are feeling better by now! I’m feeling much better than yesterday, and looking forward to another day of improvement tomorrow (fingers crossed)!

I hope you feel better soon!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know missing an LR sucks but you will be back on track in no time. One missed LR should be fine.

Thanks LeAnne! It just feels like I’ve had to skip so many long runs over the last couple of months – argh! I suppose what’s one more? Hopefully I’ll be able to shake this thing off by next weekend and kick off June with a strong long run!

  6. Heather @ GirlGoesRunning

Oh no that sucks 🙁 I had strep throat on halloween last year and I missed most of the trick or treaters because I sat at the walk in clinic all day!!!! I had bronchitis when I was Boston training last year and it sucked!!! I love chicken noodle soup as a remedy. 🙂

    I LOVE Cecil sleeping!

The soup feels so good on my throat! Hot tea too – I have lost count of how many hot teas I’ve had to drink in the last 72 hours!

Feel better soon, friend! At least you are probably getting some really nice R&R and Cecil is keeping you company (or perhaps you are keeping him company?). I so want to believe that Adnan is innocent. Yes, it seems like Jay has a role to play in all of this. Such a mystery!!!

Sorry to hear about the bronchitis – not fun at all. I know Chaitali from Running and Enjoying the Journey also got it last week. Hope the recovery is going well and Adam stocks up on the soup.
