Monday mornings, right?
I’m happy to rewind back to the weekend if you are.
Friday was full of meetings at work. My day literally flew by at the speed of light!
When I left the office at 6pm I was glad to have plans to see my friend Aislinn for a girls night. We saw Cinderella at the dine-in movie theater.
Helena Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother was great! At first I didn’t recognize her with blond hair. I kept thinking, “where do I know that mouth from?” and then I realized it was Bellatrix Lestrange.
If you’re looking for a cute, feel good movie to see I’d recommend Cinderella!
Saturday was full of exciting things like watching Cecil sleep in various different spots, and furiously refreshing the DHL tracking webpage to see when my Garmin would be delivered.
Adam came down with a cold earlier in the week and wanted to just stay home and rest, so Cecil and I followed suit.
After sitting around for most of the day, I hit the gym for a short run and to try out some moves from the Goran Dragic workout I posted about on Saturday.
I ended up doing:
- 2 mile run
- 3 planks, 60 seconds each (~20 second rest in between)
- Double hip extension, held for 60 sec.
- Up and downs, 30 reps
- Diagonal situps, 20 reps each side
- Deep squat press outs, 25 reps w/10lb dumbbell
- Flutter kicks, 25 ***
When doing the flutter kicks my right hip starting feeling really uncomfortable so I stopped. My hip has been feeling good all week, but I guess it’s not fully healed.
My plank PR is 2 minutes, and I’ve never really tried to go beyond that. I found that the three 60 second planks in fairly quick succession were easy, so I might go for a 3 minute plank this week!
On Sunday I woke up too late to do my long run in the morning, so I sipped tea and watched the live stream from LA. I had hoped to see Sage Canaday get his OTQ, but sadly he missed out on it by two minutes.
Not bad for a guy who has been focused on 50-milers and 100K races for a while now though!
Aaaaaannnd A HUGE CONGRATS to Amanda who ran her first marathon this weekend!
I’m really glad that I live in the Internet-age and have so many awesome, inspiring (online) runner friends!
Best part of your weekend?
What do you consider “sleeping in”?
These days anything after 9am is sleeping in for me, but I fondly remember the days when 1pm was sleeping in! haha
