Happy Monday! I hope you are feeling energized from a great weekend. I am feeling refreshed but also sore. On Saturday Adam and I did a workout together and I went for a new squat max. Still 160lbs but I did FOUR reps (last week I only did two reps).
We filmed it and I’ll have that clip up in my vlog probably tomorrow :).
Adam thought it might be interesting to share what my warmup for squatting 160lbs looks like:
-8 reps @ 45lbs (the bar)
-8 reps @ 95lbs
-8 reps @135lbs
-1 rep @ 150lbs
-4 reps @ 160lbs
The hardest set for me is usually the second set at 95lbs because my legs are just getting used to feeling weight on them. It’s just like how always we say “you can’t trust the first minute of a run” because your legs are just getting warmed up.
My legs actually aren’t that sore today, but we did a core workout after legs and my core is sore! I honestly have a very weak core. I always have… even when training for a race core work is the thing I neglect the most. It’s nice to have someone else push me in that regard.
Adam and I used to workout together all the time back in like 2012-2013 and we stopped because our workout schedules got out of sync. It’s nice to have our schedules synced at least one day a week now!
Anyway, I’ve been thinking about whether it would be interesting for you if Adam and I filmed a full workout? I mean neither of us are personal trainers so we wouldn’t be giving advice or anything, but you could see more of what I do besides squatting (to get stronger as a runner and in general) during my comeback.

Honestly I needed these last few squatting wins after such a crappy fitness year. It feels so good to be challenging myself even if it’s with two feet firmly planted on the ground.
