If we were friends in real life…

Holy cow, last night’s run reminded me why I stopped squatting last year when I started half marathon training. Each step of my run felt like concrete bricks were being banged against my poor legs! DOMS sucks!

To take my mind off of my poor aching legs (I’m only being a little bit dramatic), I thought I’d put together a different kind of post. Here are some things my real life friends know about me that I don’t really talk about on the blog.

If we were friends in real life

… we would never meet for salads.

I’m not sure if this is just a blog thing or what, but it seems like women enjoy meeting at restaurants to eat overpriced salads. I don’t like lettuce, so if we were real life friends I would never meet you for a salad! (I would meet you for steak tacos.)

Mmmmmmm
Mmmmmmm steak tacos on corn tortillas are my favorite!

…you would be nervous in my car.

Not only do I yell at the other drivers a lot, but it seems like I am always on the verge of running out of gas. I usually roll into the gas station with a message from my car saying I have 2 miles to empty. The good news is I’ve never actually run out of gas! The bad news is I am literally always angry at the other drivers.

…you would find out how much “Beachbody coaches” annoy me.

Seriously, I feel like every single seriously unqualified person I know is now the proud owner of a Facebook Page where they call themselves a coach and give out unwanted advice. I know not every BB coach is unqualified, but in my experience there are more unqualified people than qualified.

From the Beachbody Coach FAQs:

“Do I need to be a fitness expert?” No, you don’t need to be a fitness or weight-loss expert to become a Beachbody Coach. You just need to be ready to commit to changing your life.

Cool. That’s the kind of coach I want to take advice from.

… you would own a lot of candles.

I’m always testing out new scents for my candle business and love getting feedback from friends! I’m hoping to debut a full new line in the fall just in time for the holidays.

… you would know that I currently have a pinched nerve in my left foot.

I did’t say anything on the blog yesterday because I didn’t want to cry wolf about foot pain again just for it to end up being nothing. I went to an orthopedic doctor yesterday morning because I had been having pain in one of my toes. It turns out I have a pinched nerve in my left foot.

Metatarsal pad on my foot + ice on my sore legs. I'm a mess!
Metatarsal pad on my foot + ice on my sore legs. I’m a mess!

The doctor said he would tell most people to stay off the foot for 7 to 10 days to allow it to heal. However, he said he has a lot of runners as patients and knows that not what a runner wants to hear. He said I can continue to run and won’t do my foot any harm, it just won’t heal as fast as it would if I took rest days. So… run on!

What is one thing that your real life friends know that your blog / online friends don’t know?

I would be all over steak tacos even though I actually do like salads. Road rage scares me, I prefer defensive driving, slow and steady. Aw man, pinched nerve stinks. I guess it could be worse, Dr could have required some down time.

What my in person friends know about me…I can’t tell, to much pressure and I need to keep my identity a secret lol. I’m pretty boring, nothing really to tell.

I think salads are okay IF they have some steak on top of them!

If I got behind you on the highway I would definitely beep at you 😀

I would not meet you for a salad either. Yes I know salads are good for you, but it reminds me too much of dieting and restricting that I still cannot force myself just to eat a salad. I probably would also close my eyes while you drive – my hubby is a fairly crazy driver and my blood pressure just rises while we are in the car!

Lettuce is just SO boring, right?! I can do a spinach salad, but I’d much rather have something else. It reminds me a bit of dieting/restricting too… yuck.

    Fun post!!!
I’m with you on the driving – if I only honk once it was a calm day!!!
And, I love steak burrito bowls so I’m pretty sure I could get behind a good steak taco!!!
So sorry about your foot – hope it is better soon!

It amused me that on the day I published this post I got into no less than 3 road rage “fights” with other drives! Oy!

Jajaja!!! Love it! I totally yell at drivers and side eye most beach body related stuff…

hmmmm, well, i used to keep my love for jazzercise on the DL because i didn’t think it was “serious” enough of a sport to talk about with real runners…but i’ve since gotten over that.

so, probably i don’t talk much about how obsessed i am with trashy tv. like the bachelor/ette, so you think you can dance, america’s next top model…all the terrible shows. my hubby hates this about me 🙂

I think we would get along really well IRL! I secretly watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians 😀 It doesn’t get much trashier than that! Every time Adam catches me watching a marathon of it on E he asks what is wrong with me! haha

Yes! You’re my kind of lady 😀

Fun post. I love tacos and candles (adorable by the way). I have a sweet tooth – so my favorite scents tend to be vanilla, pumpkin, etc for the holiday seasons.

Thank you 🙂 I introduced a Pumpkin Spice candle last fall, and am thinking about introducing another pumpkin-y scent this year since it was a good seller!

I agree, when I go out to eat, I want it to be for something I can’t make (or make well at home). I can conquer a salad, so steaks–sure!

I hope your foot heals quickly!
I often ride with a rather aggressive driver (my hubby). My coping mechanism? The ability to close my eyes and fall asleep within 5 minutes of riding in a car…
Something you don’t know about me? I play piano–

    1. Kristina @ Blog About Running

Wow! 5 minutes! You’ve got me beat, although it doesn’t take me long to fall asleep in the car either. On road trips if I have a pillow, blanket and good book I can be out in 15 minutes.

I love this post. Since I don’t eat meat if we went out I would probably want cheese quesadillas and guacamole 🙂 That stinks about the nerve, but a least the doc figured it what it was. I started trying to work the weights more and it’s killing my running! My yard is a darn mess, I really need to weed and I just can’t find motivation.

Mmmm yes, we would get one of those giant bowls of guac, chips and salsa! Yarding sucks, but maybe you can think of it as cross training? 😀

This is the best post ever. It makes me want to be your IRL friend soooo badly!!! I hope your foot is feeling better!!

If we were friends in real life, we would meet for coffee and/or wine (salads optional) and laugh until we cried.

Shut up! Just tonight I was googling all kinds of stuff about beach body scams and bad advice so this is hilarious. And I do love your candles. And I hate bad drivers. And I hate that you are having foot problems. Just take a few days off, k? 😉 hugs!

I feel like we could be good friends even though I do love big, delicious salads 🙂

I had no idea that you owned a candle company! I LOVE candles, but only splurge on them every once in a while because they are do dang expensive. Your candle company name is so cute! I am only a salad person when I’m not training hard. There is no way I could be as active as I am and just eat salads – I would wither away (I like a little meat on me).

Although I can be quiet at times, and usually am more of a listener when engaging in conversation (probably the psychologist in me), I will get fired up and very protective if anyone tries to hurt or say a bad thing about one of my friends. I really don’t like mean people.

Haha, I would never meet up with my ‘other’ friends for salads either – me and my bestie Annie (in Oz) reagularly meet up food-on-a-plate though! (When in the same country that is). This could be anything from cooked breakfast on a plate to a cheese platter to a roast dinner on a plate. Yum 🙂 Always accompanied by wine or beer or vodka or cocktails etc… You get the idea!

Umm, I have never heard of these Beachbody coaches?! But it sounds pretty cruisy then? Just turn up and be like ‘I am making a commitment to chanegs your body!’ ??

And lastly, I think that if we ever take a drive somewhere together, YOU should drive! You sound a much better driver than me (I have written off two out of three cars owned before, oops…)

    Great post Kristina! xx 🙂
