Put your party hat on, it’s Friday! Yesterday I got to work from home (WFH) which was really nice because Adam also worked from home.
When we WFH together Adam and I sit in separate rooms so we don’t bother each other, but it’s still nice to get up for a stretch and pop my head in to see him!
I went down to the beach for a run both Wednesday and yesterday …it was SO HOT out both days. I’m really over summer right now.
The sun will be the death of me, but at least I’ll leave this world looking at something pretty.
My run last night was really rough. From the second I took my first step I was struggling. My legs felt like they had cinder blocks attached to them. I stopped to stretch. I stopped to send a tweet. I stopped for a drink. I stopped and took a break just to look at the water.
Basically, I took a break every time there was an opportunity – about one per mile. That’s definitely not the way to train for a marathon, but I do feel like I have a little wiggle room since I’m in the taper.
This weekend I’m signed up to run my very first 10K! I know, it’s definitely not ideal to enter a race the week before you run a marathon, but I’ll just be doing this one for fun. When I spoke with my coach I agreed to set an alert on my Garmin that will monitor my pace and tell me if I start running too fast.
I’ve agreed to do nothing faster than marathon pace but I probably won’t even go that “fast.” Now that I’m so close to marathon day I really don’t need to be taking ANY RISKS. I’ll just jog along and enjoy the morning, take a free banana and then cheer on a friend as she completes the half marathon that will be going on at the same time. I’m looking forward to it!
After the race I’ll hightail it home to watch the Dolphins play their London game and then it’s off to birthday experience #1 for Adam! I can’t wait to fill you in on the details 🙂 .
